Prediction: SINNERS win 2-0.

SINNERS come into this match-up having lost four of their last five series played, but they faced solid teams, and every series went to three maps, so the losses haven’t been ugly. SINNERS won their opening match-up at this event with a clean sweep against Wolsung, and they followed that up with a loss to AGO before beating HONORIS on Tuesday. Thus, UNGENTIUM will be the third Polish team that SINNERS face at CCT Central Europe Series 3. In terms of Polish team rankings, 9INE are probably the best right now, HONORIS & AGO are pretty good, Illuminar are solid, PALOMA are decent, and los kogutos & PACT aren’t too bad either…. So, to make a long story short - UNGENTIUM aren’t exactly the best team from their region at the moment. UNGENTIUM were originally playing with ponczek as a stand-in before signing him a couple weeks back, and the roster has a measly 6-12 W/L record across 18 maps played so far.

In terms of the map pool, UNGENTIUM have an obvious choice: Ancient. SINNERS have their lowest win rate on Ancient with a 2-7 W/L record in the past three months, meanwhile it is the most played map for UNGENTIUM. The Polish team has had mixed results with a 3-4 W/L record on Ancient, but they clearly like the map and you’d have to assume that if there is any map UNGENTIUM could stay competitive on, it would be that one. Ultimately, I don’t think SINNERS are as weak on Ancient as their record reflects. SINNERS have lost five in a row, but there were some close losses against MASONIC and AGO, plus SINNERS would have the luxury of starting CT side Ancient if UNGENTIUM do go that direction, which should give SINNERS a safe floor. We’ve seen UNGENTIUM ban Inferno in the past, but SINNERS have been weak on that map as well with a 4-10 W/L record in the past three months, so it would not surprise me to see Overpass banned off the start instead. If Overpass is available, then SINNERS will likely pick it, but I expect UNGENTIUM to ban it, which would leave Vertigo as a strong option for SINNERS, who have a 7-4 W/L record on the map in the past three months. UNGENTIUM did manage to beat ECSTATIC in their only official match on Vertigo, so we could easily be in for a competitive map there. Either way, SINNERS appear to be the much better team and I just don’t see UNGENTIUM taking a map based on talent. If UNGENTIUM do manage to steal a map, it would likely be Ancient. UNGENTIUM have been playing poorly against similar level of opponents, and SINNERS should be able to take care of business here.

PrizePicks Plays:

SHOCK (SINNERS) 37.5 Kills [Maps 1-2]

Pick: Over 37.5 Kills

SHOCK’s aggression has been slightly down in recent weeks with fewer opening duel attempts in October (18.6%) than September (21.4%). However, I think he will be excited to see Ancient as a possibility here considering he leads his team in the past month with 25.2% opening duel attempts across five maps played on Ancient. SHOCK’s aggressive plays have mainly come on the CT side, where he has 29.4% opening duel attempts during that time. We can expect to see SHOCK taking space and finding kills on CT side Ancient, and hopefully he will be rewarded with some eco frags along the way. Therefore, I wouldn’t want to bet against this guy with the good chance that SINNERS start CT side Ancient for one of the first two maps played. He should have a safe floor based on the projected maps, and I expect him to farm some kills in this soft match-up against a struggling team.

GruBy (UNGENTIUM) 33.5 Kills [Maps 1-2]

Pick: Under 33.5 Kills

33.5 kills is a fairly low number compared to the rest of the board, but how could you possibly take the over for a player like GruBy? He is the only member of UNGENTIUM with a Rating below one (0.90) across their 18 maps played together. GruBy also ranks last on his team in K/D ratio (0.83), opening duel attempts (14.7%), and kills per round (0.59). Maybe this is a trap line, but I think GruBy would need a miracle to hit this over. UNGENTIUM may also start T side Ancient which would make GruBy an even less attractive option considering SINNERS may just dominate CT side and run away with the map. I’d either take the under or not touch this one.
