H2H Data:

These rosters have never faced each other.

Prediction: Eternal Fire wins 2-1.

Evil Geniuses have now lost 16 series in a row at ESL Pro League extending across multiple seasons and multiple iterations of this roster. EG are currently the lowest-ranked team at this season of EPL with a 0.77 Team Rating, and their 0.69 K/D Ratio ranks in last place as well. Still, I think Evil Geniuses have enough talent to compete with EF and make this a close series. Eternal Fire have a 24-13 W/L record across 37 maps since adding MAJ3R & paz, and they have looked decent at this event with a win on FURIA’s map pick of Vertigo, and a fairly close loss against Cloud9. The Turkish roster has a ton of firepower but it can feel like they are “all aim, no brain” at times. Eternal Fire is the type of team to make it a close series whether they are the underdog or favored, and I expect them to win here but I doubt it will be clean. Inferno is EG’s most played map and they may consider picking it here considering FURIA just dominated Eternal Fire 16-5 on that map earlier in the week. Thus, I expect this series to stay tight and probably go to three maps, but ultimately I have to back Eternal Fire based on the way these teams have looked so far. XANTARES showed that he has a high floor with 58 kills on Thursday despite his team getting swept, and this should be a great spot for him.

  • XANTARES leads EF at this event with 0.19 opening kills per round, while imoRR leads with 33.1% opening duel attempts across five maps played.

FURIA (World rank: #13) vs. Liquid (World rank: #3) – 1:30 P.M. ET

Moneyline Odds: FURIA (+125) | Liquid (-150)

Map Handicap: FURIA +1.5 (-240) | Liquid +1.5 (+195)

This is a best-of-three on LAN for ESL Pro League Season 16 - Group D

FURIA - Rating at event: KSCERATO 1.48 | arT 1.15 | yuurih 1.11 | saffee 0.98 | drop 0.95

FURIA - Rating past three months: KSCERATO 1.12 | yuurih 1.04 | saffee 1.02 | arT 0.97 | drop 0.90

Liquid - Rating at event: YEKINDAR 1.40 | EliGE 1.27 | NAF 1.16 | oSee 0.99 | nitr0 0.84

Liquid - Rating past three months: EliGE 1.22 | YEKINDAR 1.18 | NAF 1.11 | oSee 1.10 | nitr0 0.87

H2H Data:

These rosters faced in July at IEM Cologne 2022 and Liquid swept 2-0 (16-14 Ancient / 19-17 Mirage). EliGE led the server with 57 kills and a 1.45 Rating across two maps played.

Prediction: FURIA wins 2-1.

I’ve been riding the FURIA train at this event and I am going to continue to do so. FURIA look really good at ESL Pro League Season 16. KSCERATO is back to being in god mode and he currently leads the entire event with a 1.48 Rating and 1.87 K/D ratio across five maps played. Also, the rest of the team looks solid as a whole. Yes, Liquid did sweep FURIA last time but it was a close series with Mirage going to overtime, plus FURIA were in awful form at that point in time. FURIA had lost 7 out of 10 series played after their loss to Liquid at IEM Cologne, but it certainly looks like they are back to good form again here at ESL Pro League. On Thursday, we heard in an interview with the coach of FURIA, guerri, that FURIA have been grinding for the past month with no officials, and they have worked significantly on their weaker maps: Nuke & Inferno. At this event, FURIA are a combined 3-0 on those maps, which shows the current strength of their map pool considering they have a winning record all-time with this lineup on every map besides Nuke & Inferno. On the other hand, Liquid continue to win games and they now have an 18-7 W/L record across 25 maps played since adding YEKINDAR. Liquid look unstoppable at times but they also seem to make a ton of mistakes that you wouldn't expect from a top three team. FURIA are the cheaper team to stack on Draftkings, and I would rather target the Brazilians based on the way they have looked at this event. This series is a bit of rivalry considering North America and South America were combined and used to play each other, and I think FURIA are absolutely a live underdog. FURIA is the main target for me on this slate, though I would avoid arT in this spot as I think he is a much riskier play on Friday than he has been the past two days given the fact that this could be a close series.

  • arT leads FURIA at this event with 0.15 opening kills per round and 31.1% opening duel attempts across five maps played.
