EPL DFS Playbook October 8: Top DraftKings and FanDuel EPL DFS Picks
The biggest question in Saturday’s EPL DFS slate is how many Manchester City attackers can we fit in our lineups for their home game against Southampton? Erling Haaland is the obvious target coming off his third hat trick of the season, though his price is beginning to get prohibitive. You always fade Haaland at your own peril but with several teams on the slate facing favorable matchups including Leicester, Bournemouth, Newcastle and Chelsea, there could be plenty of goals on the slate if you choose to look elsewhere.
EPL DFS Playbook for October 8th
Premier League DFS Goalkeepers
| Goalkeepers | ||||||
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| Danny Ward | LEI | BOU | 5100 | 2.44 | 10 | 4.25 |
| Playing a Leicester goalkeeper has long been a fool's errand, especially on the road, but only two teams have scored fewer goals than Bournemouth this season. Bournemouth has forced the fewest saves in the league so the floor is low if Ward lets a goal in but there aren't many good options if you don't want to spend up at the position. | ||||||
| David Raya | BRE | NEW | 4100 | 7.75 | 9 | 11.75 |
| I don't love going against Newcastle, but they have allowed the most saves to opponents this season. and they are ninth in goals. Raya probably won't keep a clean sheet but he should get enough saves to finish with a decent point total. | ||||||
| Ederson | MCI | SOU | 5900 | 7.7 | 14 | 11.94 |
| Manchester City has kept the most clean sheets in the league, so I think it is worth paying extra compared to the other top keepers. Southampton has been shut out three times this season. | ||||||
Premier League DFS Forwards
| Forwards | ||||||
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| Callum Wilson | NEW | BRE | 8300 | 13.3 | 18 | 20.08 |
| With a goal in three of his four starts this season, Wilson has as good a chance at scoring a goal as anyone outside of Erling Haaland. Brentford has allowed the seventh-most goals this season. | ||||||
| Goncalo Guedes | WOL | CHE | 5300 | 7.2 | 13 | 6.27 |
| Guedes had eight crosses including five corner kicks last week at West Ham thanks at least in part to Pedro Neto's injury. With Neto out, Guedes looks like a nice value play, especially on DraftKings. Guedes is averaging 9.56 DK fantasy points in five starts this season including against Manchester City and Tottenham. | ||||||
| Erling Haaland | MCI | SOU | 11600 | 28.18 | 25 | 44.49 |
| It is impossible to argue with the season he is having. He has at least one goal in seven of his eight games and he had an assist in that one. Haaland is averaging 14 more FD fantasy points than anyone else on the slate and you fade him at your own risk. | ||||||
| Raheem Sterling | CHE | WOL | 8100 | 11.28 | 17 | 17.36 |
| Sterling bounced back from a poor game against West Ham with three chances created against Crystal Palace. He remains the most trustworthy Chelsea attacker and you don't have to break the bank for him either. | ||||||
| Bryan Mbeumo | BRE | NEW | 5800 | 9.06 | 14 | 11.43 |
| Mbeumo has a better matchup than Goncalo Guedes and he is a nice pivot if you want to play Adama Traore and don't want to play Traore and Guedes together. | ||||||
Premier League DFS Midfielders
| Midfielders | ||||||
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| James Maddison | LEI | BOU | 10800 | 22.27 | 19 | 30.14 |
| I am concerned that we are buying high on Maddison considering he has three goals, an assist and eight chances created in his last two games. That being said, only two teams have allowed more goals than Bournemouth so if there was ever a time to count on Maddison to score, it is now. | ||||||
| Jacob Murphy | NEW | BRE | 5000 | 2.11 | 8 | 2.76 |
| Murphy had four crosses three shots (two on goal) and one chance created in his first start of the season last week. This is another good matchup and I think he has a pretty good chance of an attacking return for his price. | ||||||
| Adama Traore | WOL | CHE | 3900 | 2.84 | 8 | 1.12 |
| Traore's game can best be described as sound and fury signifying nothing, but at his price we don't care how poor his finishing is so long as he hits some crosses and draws some fouls. Traore had five crosses and two shots in 66 minutes in relief of Neto last week and he is averaging a robust 7.56 crosses per 90 minutes on the season. | ||||||
| Kevin De Bruyne | MCI | SOU | 9500 | 20.78 | 21 | 25.16 |
| He doesn't have the upside of Erling Haaland or the positional flexibility of Phil Foden but he is the safest player on the DK slate and he is reasonably priced on both sites. | ||||||
Premier League DFS Defenders
| Defenders | ||||||
| Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
| Timothy Castagne | LEI | BOU | 4600 | 7.97 | 10 | 11.46 |
| Only two teams have allowed more goals than Bournemouth and no team has allowed more crosses. Castagne is averaging 3.33 crosses per start, second on the team only to James Maddison. | ||||||
| Zanka | BRE | NEW | 2600 | 2.04 | 7 | 5.63 |
| He has a good chance of starting at center back with Pontus Jansson out. Zanka averaged 9.8 FD fantasy points in two starts this season and Newcastle is second in clearances allowed and fifth in tackles + interceptions allowed. | ||||||
| Sergio Gomez | MCI | SOU | 5500 | 3.71 | 9 | 6.18 |
| On the one hand, this is a lot to pay for someone likely making his first Premier League start. On the other hand, he is the cheapest way into the City attack and he is cheaper than the other permium defenders on the slate. Gomez has scored 14.9 DK fantasy points in 90 Premier League minutes and he could go 90 minutes Saturday with Kyle Walker out. In two Champions League starts Gomez has seven crosses, four shots (two on target), three chances created and an assist. | ||||||
| Kieran Trippier | NEW | BRE | 6300 | 13.87 | 14 | 17.77 |
| He is averaging the most DK fnatasy points of any defender on the slate but he is cheaper than Reece James. Trippier is great in defense or in your UTIL spot though you may want to save that for another City attacker. | ||||||
| Maximilian Kilman | WOL | CHE | 2700 | 3.47 | 10 | 11.46 |
| Kilman has double-digit fantasy points in six of his last eight games. He is usually safe for clearances and he had four blocks his last time out. You could do much worse on FanDuel. | ||||||
