CFB DFS Picks, Daily Fantasy Playbook & Schedule: Saturday, October 3rd

Before we discuss top CFB DFS picks this week, let’s take a look at the slate. DraftKings has a 12-game main slate with only afternoon action. Meanwhile, FanDuel’s 14-game slate spans both the afternoon and night. For the write-ups, we’ll focus on top players and value picks for both sites. See our specific DraftKings and FanDuel core plays below. Here’s a look at the Week 5 CFB DFS picks.

CFB DFS Lineups: Top Plays

Keelon Russell, QB, Alabama

DK: $8,800 | FD: $11,500

Both quarterbacks in this Alabama vs. Mississippi State showdown can be top plays this week. Keelon Russell, though, might be the better option because of the matchup. Miss St ranks 114th nationally in pass defense and 82nd in defensive EPA/Pass. Russell has exploded for 43 and 29 DK points in the past two weeks against South Carolina and Florida State, respectively. He had at least 320 passing yards, 3 pass TDs, and one rushing score in both games.

Jadan Baugh, RB, Florida

DK: $9,800 | FD: $12,200

Jadan Baugh is obviously expensive and tough to fit into lineups, but he’s been worth it. Florida’s stud running back has DK point totals of 37, 28, 38, and 37 over the first four games. The past two performances are perfect examples of why paying up for him can be worth it. Baugh ran for 162 yards and 3 TDs against Auburn, and then put up 142 yards and 3 scores against Ole Miss. Even against a solid Missouri run defense, he can dominate the slate again.

Matt Fuller, RB, South Carolina

DK: $7,200

On DraftKings, Matt Fuller projects to be one of the better per-dollar options in the expensive RB range. South Carolina’s tailback had 34 and 27 DK points against Mississippi State and Alabama, respectively, in the past two games. He’s seeing a healthy workload of 20+ touches with involvement as a pass-catcher as well. Fuller now faces a Kentucky defense that struggled to stop the run against Bama and Texas A&M earlier this season.

Cayden Lee, WR, Missouri

DK: $6,300 | FD: $8,700

There are many top wide receivers worth considering this week. One who could go overlooked, but can certainly match the production of others, is Cayden Lee. The Missouri wideout just went off for 41 DK points last week with 156 yards and 2 TDs on 11 receptions against Mississippi State. He also had 120 yards and a TD against Kansas earlier this year. Lee now faces a Florida pass defense that ranks 113th nationally.

CFB DFS Lineups: Value Plays

Beau Pribula, QB, Virginia

DK: $7,600 | FD: $10,600

Florida State has one of the worst pass defenses in the country so far. FSU ranks 135th in passing yards allowed per game, 128th in defensive EPA/Pass, and 113th in defensive success rate vs. the pass. It’s a very favorable matchup for Beau Pribula as he quarterbacks the Virginia offense. He had 35 DK in last week’s win over Delaware, and he dropped 28 DK against NC State to begin this season. Pribula should have a solid floor with upside for much more against this shaky defense.

Rico Flores Jr., WR, Virginia

DK: $4,500 | FD: $7,300

Speaking of Virginia’s passing attack, Rico Flores Jr. is also a top value against Florida State. After missing the beginning of the year, the wideout has made an immediate impact since returning. He just had 9 catches for 113 yards and a touchdown last week in his first full game back. Flores should be a favorite target for Pribula moving forward, and this might be the cheapest we see him at for the rest of the season.

Jordan Dwyer, WR, TCU

FD: $7,100

Jordan Dwyer made his season debut last week and was productive right away. The TCU wide receiver had 5 receptions on 8 targets for 100 yards. He’s the Horned Frogs’ top pass-catcher when healthy, and it looks like he’s showing no signs of rust. The price tag on FanDuel is still too cheap for his talent and role in the TCU offense. Even against a tough BYU defense this week, Dwyer can get enough receiving volume to return value.

Darrion Dupree, RB, Wisconsin

DK: $5,000

On the DraftKings slate, we have a potential glaring value in the Wisconsin backfield. Starter Abu Sama III is banged up and questionable to play this week. Bryan Jackson II is also a question mark to suit up. So, it could leave Darrion Dupree in a workhorse role with a heavy volume of carries. He’s averaging 5.6 yards per carry on his 24 attempts so far, which could result in a 100+ yardage performance if he gets 15-20 touches. His opponent, Michigan State, looked vulnerable on the ground against Nebraska and Notre Dame in the past two games.
