CFB DFS Picks, Daily Fantasy Playbook & Schedule: Saturday, October 17th
Before we discuss top CFB DFS picks this week, let’s take a look at the slate. DraftKings has a 12-game main slate with only afternoon action. Meanwhile, FanDuel’s 14-game slate spans both the afternoon and night. For the write-ups, we’ll focus on top players and value picks for both sites. See our specific DraftKings and FanDuel core plays below. Here’s a look at the Week 7 CFB DFS picks.
CFB DFS Lineups: Top Plays
Sam Leavitt, QB, LSU
DK: $9,000 | FD: $11,200
Trinidad Chambliss will be a popular pay-up quarterback this week, or Michael Hawkins Jr. on the FanDuel slate. Sam Leavitt, though, carries a ton of upside for LSU in a fantastic home matchup. Mississippi State ranks 124th in pass defense and 101st in defensive success rate this season. The defense has allowed at least 280 passing yards and 2+ pass TDs to three straight opposing QBs. Leavitt should follow suit, and his rushing ability gives him a solid floor. He’s safe for 25+ DFS points with the potential for much more.
Jamal Roberts, RB, Missouri
DK: $8,500 | FD: $10,500
Jamal Roberts headlines the RB position, coming off back-to-back massive stat lines. Missouri’s workhorse had 211 rushing yards, 3 TDs, and 48 DK points against Florida, then followed that up with 222 yards, 2 TDs, and 41 DK points vs. Texas A&M last week. Roberts now faces a shaky Ole Miss rush defense that ranks 111th nationally and 106th in EPA/Rush. We could easily see Roberts go for another 200+ yards with multiple scores in this matchup.
Jeremiah Smith, WR, Ohio State
DK: $9,700 | FD: $12,500
The weekly decision on whether or not to roster Jeremiah Smith has been tough. Ohio State’s stud wideout dropped 60 and 46 DK points against Illinois and Iowa, respectively, with 200+ receiving yards in both games. Even on the road against Indiana’s defense, Smith carries the potential to break the slate. The Hoosiers may do everything they can to stop him, but that usually doesn’t matter. Smith had 144 yards on eight catches in last year’s meeting vs. IU.
Deuce Alexander, WR, Ole Miss
DK: $7,800 | FD: $8,800
If you don’t want to pay all the way up for Jeremiah Smith, then Deuce Alexander is a great second choice while saving salary. The Ole Miss wideout is averaging 100.6 receiving yards and 24 DK points per game this season as a top target for Trinidad Chambliss. The floor of receptions and yards is pretty consistent, and he’s scored 5 times this year. Alexander faces a Mizzou defense that ranks 91st against the pass. Plus, you can get a piece of this high-total game.
CFB DFS Lineups: Value Plays
Arch Manning, QB, Texas
DK: $6,900 | FD: $10,300
It seems wild to call Arch Manning a value play, but his price tags suggest that this week. Manning’s stat lines haven’t been that impressive this season, though he did throw for 260 yards with 3 TDs last week against Oklahoma. What we like this weekend is the matchup. Florida ranks 131st in the country in pass defense and 127th in defensive EPA/Play. Manning could easily throw for 300+ yards with multiple TDs in this home matchup.
Ryan Wingo, WR, Texas
DK: $5,900 | FD: $7,600
One of Arch Manning’s top targets is also a value this week. Cam Coleman headlines the Texas receiving corps, but Ryan Wingo can put up similar or better numbers at a lower price. Wingo has only gone over 100 yards once this season, and that was back in Week 1 against Texas State. However, the matchup against Florida is a great one, as noted above. Manning should throw for a ton of yards this week, and Wingo will be a main beneficiary. He can exceed value, especially if he scores like last game.
Winston Watkins Jr., WR, LSU
DK: $5,200 | FD: $7,900
We love Sam Leavitt this week against the poor Mississippi State pass defense. So, let’s target one of his top receivers. Winston Watkins Jr. is averaging 69.3 receiving yards per game with 5+ receptions in 4 of 6 games. He’s been up-and-down from a DFS perspective recently, but LSU’s passing attack should roll at home in this favorable matchup. Watkins is too cheap for his upside if he goes for 100+ yards and a TD. Jackson Harris is also worth a look, as he’s come on strong lately for the LSU offense.
Re’Shaun Sanford II, RB, Houston
FD: $7,400
On the FanDuel slate, Re’Shaun Sanford II projects as a solid value running back. Houston’s backfield is split, with Sanford and Makhi Hughes both getting decent touches. Sanford, though, has seen 17+ carries in three straight games. He’s also run for 120, 62, and 90 yards in these past three weeks. Oklahoma State is strong against the pass but worse vs. the run, so Houston could go with a rush-heavy game plan. That benefits Sanford and his workload.
