This Saturday, the SEC game in Athens seems like an easy win for one team, but it’s the kind of matchup that bettors should really analyze.

The No. 12 Georgia Bulldogs are big favorites against the Kentucky Wildcats in Week 6, with the betting spread over three touchdowns. Georgia’s recent loss to Alabama makes this game more interesting, but the main focus of anyone making Kentucky vs. #12 Georgia picks might be better served on the game total.

Kentucky vs. #12 Georgia Predictions for College Football Week 6, Saturday, 10/4

Both teams have really struggled offensively this season, and Kentucky is especially having a hard time finding their groove. Georgia’s only big scoring game was against Tennessee, a team that gives up points to just about anybody.

If you ignore that game, the Bulldogs haven't been able to muster up much on that side of the ball. Since both teams will probably rely on their defenses and a run-heavy game plan, betting on the under in our Kentucky vs. #12 Georgia predictions seems like a smart choice.

Kentucky vs. #12 Georgia Best Bet: Under 48.5 (-107 at Novig)

Like we just said, this game screams “low-scoring”. To start, Kentucky’s offense is really struggling right now. They’ve already changed quarterbacks, but Cutter Boley’s first game as the starter against South Carolina was pretty rough.

He had three turnovers, seemed nervous in the pocket, and only completed 10 passes the whole game. Kentucky’s passing game is one of the worst in the SEC for both efficiency and explosiveness, and it’s hard to imagine things suddenly getting better in Athens against one of the stronger defenses in the conference.

That means the Wildcats will really need to rely on their running game. Running back Seth McGowan has been a bright spot, averaging 6.6 yards per carry in last week’s loss, but Georgia is designed to stop that exact plan. The Bulldogs are in the top 10 nationally for rush defense in some metrics and tend to stop big runs. If Kentucky has to pass a lot, that’s not good news.

On the flip side, Georgia's offense has been working, but it hasn't been super exciting. Quarterback Gunner Stockton has been careful not to make mistakes, but he hasn't really impressed against defenses either.

When they played Alabama a week ago, he only threw for 130 yards. Running back Chauncey Bowens has played really well, but Georgia as a team hasn't been consistent enough to trust them to really take charge of this game on offense.

This is where tempo becomes important. Both teams want to keep the ball and take their time with possessions. Georgia knows it has the stronger defense and a deeper team, so it makes sense for them to play it safe, get an early lead, and then slow the game down.

On the other hand, Mark Stoops' Kentucky team will try to run the ball as much as they can to avoid turnovers and limit the Dawgs' chances. This mix favors a game where the clock runs and there are long drives that don’t score points.

Looking at recent games, it also seems like the under is the way to go. Seven out of Kentucky's last eight October games against top-15 teams have ended under the total. When these teams have faced off, it’s usually been Georgia winning big, and the Wildcats struggle to score.

Another thing to consider is motivation and how the game might go. Georgia just had a tough loss at home to Alabama and still has Auburn and Ole Miss coming up. This seems like a situation where Kirby Smart will want to take care of business early, bring in backup players, and avoid injuries.

So, while Georgia will probably control the game, Kentucky's struggles on offense and Georgia's slow style should keep the score under 48.5. Our Kentucky vs. #12 Georgia predictions believe a score like 31–10 or 34–13 in favor of the Bulldogs seems likely.
