This puts extra pressure on Nussmeier, who hasn’t yet proven he can consistently make big plays to challenge defenses. Florida’s defense, which still has a lot of talent and brings back seven starters, will make it tough for LSU to gain yards easily.

Right now, the real strength of both teams is their defense. LSU’s front seven has been very disruptive, led by a pass rush that has been in the opposing backfields a lot. Florida, despite its offensive struggles, has been pretty solid defensively except for a few big mistakes against USF.

This matchup seems like one where both defenses will control the game. LSU’s defense should limit Lagway’s chances to keep drives alive, while Florida’s front should prevent the Tigers from getting into a good rhythm with their running game.
