Florida vs. #3 LSU Predictions, Picks & Odds: CFB Week 3, 9/13
Two SEC rivals clash under the bright lights in one of the toughest places to play in college football as the Florida Gators head to Baton Rouge to face the LSU Tigers in Week 3. This presents a perfect opportunity for some Florida vs. #3 LSU predictions!
Both teams have shown some good moments but also have a lot of uncertainties early in the season, especially on offense. LSU is coming in undefeated, but they haven't been very consistent, while Florida is trying to recover from a surprising loss to USF.
Florida vs. #3 LSU Predictions for College Football Week 3, Saturday, 9/13
With the Tigers favored by more than a touchdown at home, the big question for Florida vs. #3 LSU picks is whether either team can score enough points to go over the betting total. This leads us to the best angle for this game: the under.
If you’ve been keeping an eye on both teams this season, it’s tough to feel confident about either offense being able to find lasting success. This is the main reason why the under 47.5 looks like the best bet for the Florida vs. LSU game.
Florida vs. #3 LSU Best Bet: Under 47.5 (-110 at Rebet)
The Gators started 2025 with a lot of hope for DJ Lagway, who is one of the most skilled quarterbacks they’ve had in a long time. But so far, that talent hasn’t turned into good performance.
Florida only scored 16 points in their surprising Week 2 loss to USF, settling for field goals when they should have scored touchdowns. Mistakes, penalties, and missed chances have hurt Billy Napier’s offense in the first two games.
Facing LSU’s strong defense, this could lead to even more frustration. The Tigers have made 18 tackles for loss in their first two games and completely shut down Louisiana Tech’s running game.
If Florida’s offensive line keeps having trouble with protection and consistency, Lagway won’t have enough time to make big plays down the field. This means more drives will end without scoring in the opponent's territory — and more field goals instead of touchdowns.
On the other hand, LSU has a lot of talent but hasn’t really found its rhythm on offense. Garrett Nussmeier seemed reliable in the Tigers’ first game win against Clemson, but the offense struggled in a slow 23-7 win over Louisiana Tech. For a team that was expected to win by more than five touchdowns in that game, scoring only 23 points raised some concerns.
The running game hasn’t been strong either. LSU is averaging a low number of yards per carry even though they’re playing teams they should be able to overpower. This puts extra pressure on Nussmeier, who hasn’t yet proven he can consistently make big plays to challenge defenses. Florida’s defense, which still has a lot of talent and brings back seven starters, will make it tough for LSU to gain yards easily.
Right now, the real strength of both teams is their defense. LSU’s front seven has been very disruptive, led by a pass rush that has been in the opposing backfields a lot. Florida, despite its offensive struggles, has been pretty solid defensively except for a few big mistakes against USF.
This matchup seems like one where both defenses will control the game. LSU’s defense should limit Lagway’s chances to keep drives alive, while Florida’s front should prevent the Tigers from getting into a good rhythm with their running game. Since both offenses tend to struggle and often settle for field goals, betting on the under seems more appealing than choosing a side on the spread.
LSU has often gone under in low-scoring games when their offense hasn’t been sharp early in the season. Florida has not managed to score over 20 points in three of its last five road games against ranked SEC teams. Death Valley at night is always a scary place for visiting quarterbacks, making Lagway’s job even harder.
When you put it all together, betting on the under seems to fit best with how these teams are currently playing. Our Florida vs. #3 LSU predictions expect a tough, physical game that stays in the low-to-mid 40s.
