Last week was the first week that FanDuel offered DFS NASCAR and while I didn’t publish lineups, the cash and GPP example lineups for this article I came up with all cashed. This week I won’t publish lineups either, to test my strategy on a more “normal” race and not a restrictor plate. Next week I will have full lineups for both sites.

In the meantime I will breakdown the strategy to use when piecing together the five-driver roster for the FanDuel contests.

Once more the point breakdowns are as follows:

  • Laps Completed = 0.1 points
  • Laps Led = 0.1 points
  • Position Differential = +/- 0.5 points
  • First place = 43 points
  • Second place = 40 points
  • Third place = 38 points (spots 4th-40thare one fewer point than the previous one)

So there are very few chances for dominator points and making sure your guys stay on the track is very important as you get points for the driver simply turning laps. Position differential is tough to come by this week just by the nature of the track, but trying to get as many guys as possible that have shown they can move through the field is important as well.

Cash Plays:

  • Kevin Harvick
  • Martin Truex Jr.
  • Brad Keselowski
  • Joey Logano
  • Chase Elliott
  • Jimmie Johnson
  • Clint Bowyer
  • Aric Almirola
  • William Byron
  • David Ragan

These drivers span the salary range but have all shown good speed in practice and have solid histories here with consistency. That’s what you’re looking for on a cash lineup.

GPP Plays:

  • Kyle Busch (Fading some this week for bad finishes in spring race)
  • Kevin Harvick
  • Brad Keselowski
  • Kyle Larson
  • Joey Logano
  • Jimmie Johnson
  • Clint Bowyer
  • Daniel Suarez
  • Alex Bowman
  • Kasey Kahne
  • Darrell Wallace Jr.

There is some overlap this week between GPP and cash plays mainly because either they are having a good season with good speed and spotty history here or vice versa. Reading through the playbook will explain why these guys can be in both and why some are strictly GPP plays, like Busch and Larson.

Good luck everyone!
