Welcome to another edition of the Fantasy Hockey Injury Report. The season is now in full swing, and so are the injuries. You can’t avoid them, but we can get a head start and plan around them. The injury report will be out every week to help you plan the rest of your fantasy hockey week. Let’s take a look at which key players are dealing with injuries.

Roope Hintz - Dallas Stars - Center

Injury: upper-body, day-to-day.

Dallas forward Roope Hintz is out of the lineup for Wednesday’s game against Toronto after suffering an upper-body injury in Monday’s game against Tampa Bay. The centerman played exactly 20 seconds before being forced to leave. The injury doesn’t seem to be serious, so there’s an outside chance that he can return to the lineup on Saturday. Hintz has 15-goals in 42-games this season.

Drew Doughty - Los Angeles Kings - Defence

Injury: upper-body, two weeks.

Veteran defenceman Drew Doughty was not on the ice for the teams’ optional morning skate, and it looks like he won’t be ready to play tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He hasn’t skated since leaving practice early on Sunday, and we still don’t know when, or what the injury is. Fantasy owners will need to sit tight before making a long-term decision on Doughty. He hasn’t been that great this season, so any prolonged absence may put an end to anyone hoping he can find his game in the second half of the season.

Max Domi - Montreal Canadiens - Center

Injury: illness, day-to-day.

Montreal Canadiens’ forward Max Domi missed practice for the second straight day due to illness. We don’t know what the illness is, but we can expect that it’s the flu. The Habs are in Buffalo on Thursday to take on the Sabres, and his status for that game is still uncertain. The good news is that he will travel with the team, so if he does feel better before puck drop, he will most likely play. For now, fantasy owners shouldn’t panic and just wait for an update tomorrow on his condition.

P.K. Subban - New Jersey Devils - Defence

Injury: illness, day-to-day.

Just like Domi, P.K. Subban is dealing with an illness that could keep him out of the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Predators. We know that Subban will do everything possible to get into the lineup to face his former team. He also missed back-to-back practices, but that could mean the team just wants to give him as much rest as possible. It’s been a disappointing season for the former Norris trophy winner, but he still has just over 30-games left to try and salvage his season.

Linus Ullmark - Buffalo Sabres - Goalie

Injury: lower-body, three-to-four weeks.

The Buffalo Sabres will be without their starting goalie for at least the next three weeks due to a lower-body injury. Linus Ullmark was able to win the starting job from Carter Hutton due to his strong play, but now he will give Hutton a chance to reclaim that role. The Sabres are still in the hunt for a playoff spot, but losing their top goalie certainly makes things more challenging. If Ullmark was on your fantasy team, it may be best to add Hutton off the waiver wire. He’s a risky play any time he takes the net, but if you spot start him in favourable matchups, he may be serviceable until he returns to his backup role.
