Last year proved to the fantasy community that getting too excited for rookie receivers can be a dangerous thing. But when you look at Shepard’s hands, his route-running ability and his path to a starting job, it’s hard not to get a little jazzed up. Odell Beckham is obviously the premier talent, but with him likely to see a number of double-teams, not to mention Josh Norman twice a year, the door is open for someone to be that go-to possession receiver for Eli Manning. Victor Cruz is still on the mend and questionable overall, there’s no more Rueben Randle and Shepard’s skill set surpasses that of Dwayne Harris. With a solid training camp, Shepard could easily earn the confidence of Manning and head coach Ben McAdoo which would then bring him a strong load of targets.
