Daily Dribble Saturday, March 1st

Let the Madness begin, March is here. My wife asked me one time what my favorite month was and without batting an eye I hollered March, probably a little too enthusiastically but I can not help myself as March has a lot bit of everything. For us hoops fans there this big dance and our season long hoop leagues are winding down (current FSWA Mark Kaplan Hoops League Standings). For us baseball fans there is the start of Spring Training (which I’m chomping at the bit to get down to Florida in a couple weeks to visit Joker Merchant Stadium-home of the Tigers, Disney-home of the Braves, and hopefully squeeze in another site or two). For us golf fans the Masters is right around the corner (number one on my bucket list of sporting events to attend, hands down). And, if you haven’t noticed, this nomad is Irish who coincidentally arrived from middle earth on the 24th of this month many years ago, so you know from the 17th on it will be one long on-going party in the land where I roam. So I say “cheers” to this magnificent month, “slainte mhaith” to all of you who read my work on the regular, and before we get into today's hoops content I ask what is your favorite month of the year? I Look forward to seeing how you respond in the comments section below where you can also ask your daily fantasy questions. Now it's time to March on into some upcoming tournaments, injury news of the night and how it should shape your decision making this evening.

Injury News

I will focus on any injury news that pertains to this evening’s slate of games, but be sure to visit our Player News section to catch up on other injuries and player insight that will give you a head start when it comes to planning future lineups.

1023.jpgKevin Martin (hand) and Nikola Pekovic (ankle) will return to action tonight as the team travels to Sac Town to take on the Kings. The Kings royally suck on defense, but TWolves head coach Flip Saunders has already said Pek will play limited minutes in his first game back and I’m not confident rostering a shooter like Martin who is coming off a hand injury.

1956.jpgTy Lawson (ribs) participated in shootaround on Saturday, but he's doubtful to play vs. the Blazers. Aaron Brooks will get the start again for Denver against a Portland team that are allowing the most fantasy points to opposing point guards over the last 15 days.

Wilson Chandler (knee) will be evaluated at shoot-around and early word is Darrell Arthur (hip) will give it a go. Arthur is irrelevant and even if Chandler plays he would be matched up with one of the better defensive small forwards in the league tonight in Nicolas Batum.

LaMarcus Aldridge went through a full practice on Friday, so I would fully expect him to return to the lineup this evening against a Nuggets team where he is averaging a 50 burger on in two matchups this season.

1872.jpgArron Afflalo did not make the trip across the state to Miami so Mo Harkless and Victor Oladipo will remain in the Magic’s starting lineup. Both have played well of late, but are too risky against a Heat team that are are holding opponents to a league-best 80.7 points per game over their last three games.

Jared Sullinger (concussion) WILL play Saturday vs. Indiana. Kelly Olynyk is doubtful with a toe injury. Gerald Wallace has a torn meniscus and is out indefinitely. Avery Bradley (ankle) is out till at least next week. The Pacers have the best team defense as they are holding opponents to just 91.1 points per game on the season, so even though it is the month of March I am not considering any Celtic outside of possibley Rajon Rondo this evening.

1986.jpgGeorge Hill will not play Saturday in Boston due to a bruised left shoulder suffered vs. Bucks. C.J. Watson will start in his place. Normally it would be elementary to play Watson at his price tag, but there are better options at the point this evening who have better matchups and come at a reasonable price tag like Nuggets Aaron Brooks (see above).

3132.jpgChandler Parsons (illness) intends to play tonight against the Pistons co to does Patrick Beverley (jaw). Beverley and Lin have a favorable matchup, but neither one has done much of late to prove worthy of rostering regardless if the odds are in their favor. Update: Parson is OUT look to Jordan Hamilton for a sleeper play

Kevin Garnett (rest) is out for Saturday's game. Mason Plumlee will start in his place against a Bucks team that is bootie, so Plumlee is in play if you were looking for a cheap big tonight.

Jamal Crawford and J.J. Redick are out. Darren Collison is expected to get the start as the Pelicans flock to LA. I much rather prefer to play Collison when Chris Paul is out and the matchup is good, which you get neither benefit tonight.

0935.jpgAnderson Varejao and C.J. Miles are OUT. Dion Waiters status is still up in the air as the Cavs travel to Memphis to take on the Grizzlies. All three are hopeful to return to action next week. As for this evening. I am avoiding all Cavs this evening against one of the better defenses in the league. The only one I would really consider would be the obvious choice, Kyrie Irving, who posted his first career triple-double last night, but again I do not like the matchup and Irving averages about six fewer fantasy points on the road than at home.

Well that was madness in itself, but anytime there are plenty of injuries there are usually plenty of opportunities to find value. I have listed some of those value plays above and by the time you are done reading this our Daily League Picks article will be up where we provide you with our tiered DFS recommendations for the night.
