We have made it to another Wednesday! We have lots of exciting baseball in store for us today, with a good number of afternoon games to get us through the day. This evening, we get some exciting matchups, including Paul Skenes taking on the Los Angeles Dodgers. Another great day is in store for us to build some more winning MLB DFS lineups!

Even with the few afternoon games, we still get a large evening slate for a Wednesday with a 9-game main slate that will be starting at 6:40 PM ET on both DraftKings and FanDuel. There are some exciting matchups today, with some great pitchers taking the mound and some offenses who are clicking to look at.

There are plenty of different ways to attack the slate today and build a winning lineup, so let’s jump right into today’s MLB DFS playbook and my best MLB DFS picks of the day.

MLB Weather Today, 6/5

Some thunderstorms throughout the evening are going to threaten this game. Keep a close eye on this one.

Same as the above game.

MLB DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

There are some intriguing pitching options today across the slate. There is some clear firepower at the top with some top-end guys that I really like, but some interesting cheaper-end arms to look at with plenty of solid offenses to target today as well.

Outside of my favorites, I will give some honorable mentions today to Dylan Cease, Carlos Rodon, James Taillon, and Jose Soriano.

On the offensive side, some of my favorite lineups to target today include the Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees, Kansas City Royals, Cleveland Guardians, Tampa Bay Rays, and Pittsburgh Pirates.

Core MLB DFS Pitchers

Logan Gilbert, Seattle Mariners

May was not kind to Logan Gilbert. He had a 4.66 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and only an 18.4% strikeout rate. I’m not too worried about it, though. A lot of that damage came from the Twins, Yankees, and Astros, all very solid offenses.

The Oakland Athletics can still be dominated, as George Kirby proved for the Mariners last night. I think we get a similar type of outing from Logan Gilbert tonight, and I prefer him even slightly to Dylan Cease (though honestly, you could try to roster both today).

Paul Skenes, Pittsburgh Pirates

My main concern with this matchup is not even the Dodgers' offense—it’s the weather. The thunderstorms are looking threatening, but I do think there is a good chance things will clear up enough for them to play.

Don’t get me wrong, the Dodgers are still scary, but Skenes is good enough to mitigate that. He has been nothing short of brilliant to start his career with another 9 strikeouts through 6 innings in his last outing. As long as the weather doesn’t get in his way, I think he can shut down this strong Dodgers offense.

Zach Eflin, Tampa Bay Rays

This one comes with some risk as it is his first start back from the IL, and he didn’t have a rehab start. This is also the cheapest we will probably ever see Zach Eflin, and it is in a good matchup against the Miami Marlins.

He will certainly be on a strict pitch count today, which could limit his upside, but at this price, if he can pitch efficiently, he can still get plenty of value against this Marlins offense today.

Josh Naylor, 1B Cleveland Guardians

Brady Singer is just not a $9,000 pitcher. I like Brady Singer and think he is a quality pitcher, but he is not good enough to justify that kind of price. I think this Guardians lineup is strong and can get to him here today.

Josh Naylor has been in a bit of a cold streak recently other than his two-homer game in Colorado a week ago and yesterday when he hit a homer. I hope yesterday’s homer is breaking him out of this slump, though, and I think this is a good matchup for him to do so in.

Royce Lewis, 3B Minnesota Twins

Royce Lewis is back! He is batting 1.000 on the season. Sure, it is 5 plate appearances, but still 3 for 3 with 2 homers. If he can stay healthy, Royce Lewis can easily be one of baseball's best hitters.

While Carlos Rodon has been pitching well recently, and I could see trying to play him for the strikeout upside against this Twins team, if you aren’t going there, I have a hard time not wanting to pay up for Royce Lewis here.

Corey Seager, Texas Rangers

Corey Seager is human! His hitting streak finally ended last night at 16 games. Over that 16-game hitting streak, he has a 1.322 OPS. Oh, and he also hit 9 home runs. Only Aaron Judge has more homers over that stretch.

I don’t trust Kenta Maeda right now, and I don’t see why Seager won’t jump right back into that form after finally ending his hitting streak. It is pretty amazing how quickly he turned around his slow start, and I don’t see him slowing back down anytime soon.

Bryan Reynolds, OF Pittsburgh Pirates

You know the “He can’t keep getting away with this!” meme of Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad? That’s how I feel about James Paxton. There is just no way he can sustain this 3.29 ERA right now. His K-BB% is 1.4%, that is not good. I am going to keep betting on regression coming his way, and I am doing so with at least Bryan Reynolds today, if not some other Pittsburgh Pirates hitters, along with him.

Bryan Reynolds is slashing .293/.337/.488 against lefties this season, which is pretty much in line with his career performance against them. I think this price is far too low for Reynolds today, and even if you don’t want to stack other Pirates against Paxton, you should definitely consider getting him into your lineup.
