I hate non-ppr, so of course I was put in a non-ppr league (there were two PPR leagues but apparently I don’t have a high enough “Q Rating” to have qualified for those). You have to play the league you’re given, so that’s what I did.

THE PARTICIPANTS

Here are the participants in the 12-team, non-ppr league.

Adam Kaplan, Paul Kelly, Dan Clasgens, Joe Pisapia, Brandon Marianne Lee, Alex Dunlap, Jason Thornbury, Ray Flowers, Lisa Ann, Byron Lambert, Ashley Williams, James Adams

THE SELECTIONS

ROUND 1: Julio Jones, boom. The #3 wideout in a non-PPR for Fantasy Alarm, and a star if he can stay healthy. Period.

ROUND 2: Tempted to go with a running back, but in a non-ppr I felt like getting another elite WR would give me a huge advantage. No one has a better duo than me out wide with Julio and Green. Period.

ROUND 3: Ingram nearly went for 1,000 and 10 last year – and he missed three games.

ROUND 4: Was this close to taking Joseph Randle… but Lisa Ann grabbed him the pick before my selection. I was then left to choose between Jonathan Stewart, LeGarrette Blount or Andre Johnson. I likely will be able to get a decent RB next time around, so went AJ with hope that his TD total goes up with Andrew Luck. Johnson will likely score more than he has in the past with Andrew Luck throwing him the ball. He is aging, and often dealing with soft tissue woes, but as my WR3 I cannot complain.

ROUND 5: Blount was still there with my next selection and he will be the early down back for the Patriots. He’s got a legit shot to run for double-digit scores.

ROUND 6: Really didn’t want to go Coleman, since I already had Julio, but I needed another runner and he was the best option I saw. Not ideal, but going WR/WR with first two picks meant I needed to take a risk or two at running back.

ROUND 7: Went with Bell over Doug Martin. Actually didn’t have a choice as Martin went a pick ahead of me. All this Ameer Abdullah talk is way overblown. Went with the runner over a quarterback in the seventh.

ROUND 8: Was piling up runners so had a decision to make. Take Freeman to lock down the Falcons backfield. Take the QB cause a run is likely to start. Grab a WR4 before the position gets thin. I went with Romo and then saw all the players I was considering drafting go in the 8th round. Oh well, how it goes sometimes – just read the QB position wrong in this one (obvious when Eli Manning was still around in the 9th round).

ROUND 9: Went with Davis over DeAngelo Williams. Figured it made more sense to try and hit a home run with Knile’s who would explode if Charles were to go down with a significant injury. Hopefully one of the Davante’s would be available with my next selection.

ROUND 10: Parker was there and I happily added him after Lisa Ann selected the man that will be throwing him the football. I don’t need Parker to be an ace early in the season, but hopefully he can get healthy and contribute in the second half.

ROUND 11: Could have gone with another wideout, but I thought I would take the plunge on another runner with Jones. He could take over for Morris, could even snipe some goaline work. Had to hope that one of the wideouts on my board would be available in the next round.

ROUND 12: I really like Randle, though he’s clearly not a huge touchdown threat at this point. Still, as my 5th WR there’s no complaint here. Not a sexy pick, but potentially a solid one.

ROUND 13: I was tempted to go with Cutler as my backup quarterback, but since I feel very confident in Romo I figured that I would take a chance on Colin K. and hope he has some huge outings with his legs making him the upside fantasy play over Cutler.

ROUND 14: I wanted to go Josh Hill, but a report came out the day of the draft that Drew Brees was adamant that Benjamin Watson is the #1 option at TE for the Saints. Plus, I wrote this article about the Saints’ tight ends as well, so I took a shot on Ertz who prior to his groin surgery would have been taken rounds earlier than this (the hope is that he will be back for Week 1).

ROUND 15: The Jets get back the best corner in football (Darrelle Revis) and that always intrigues.

ROUND 16: Kicker time. Get a guy with a late bye week, who plays in good weather, and has a big leg. Hello Mr. Prater.

QB: Tony Romo, Colin Kaepernick

RB: Mark Ingram, LeGarrette Blount, Tevin Coleman, Joique Bell, Knile Davis, Matt Jones

WR: Julio Jones, A.J. Green, Andre Johnson, Davante Parker, Reuben Randle

TE: Zach Ertz

K: Matt Prater

DEF: New York Jets
