Thompson is pleased with his team's decision to re-sign fellow running back Adrian Peterson, Zach Brook of NBC Sports Washington reports.

Peterson figures to impact Derrius Guice (knee) more so than Thompson, considering the latter gets most of his playing time on passing downs. Of course, it's still another body that demands snaps in the backfield, and the Washington offense probably won't have a ton of yards and touchdowns to go around. The team did at least get some security under center with the trade for Case Keenum, whose shortcomings as a passer likely will impact the wide receivers rather than the running backs or tight ends. Thompson thus stands a decent chance to regain his 2016 level of production, but the circumstances don't point toward a repeat of his breakout 2017 campaign (80.4 scrimmage yards, 0.6 touchdowns per game). Watson (appendix) is considering a return to the NFL for his 16th season, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Watson appeared poised for retirement following the Saints' NFC Championship loss, but the veteran tight end may not be willing to hang up the laces just yet. The 38-year-old was a surprisingly critical factor in the team's offense for much of last season, registering 400 receiving yards and two touchdowns despite starting just four games, forcing tight ends Josh Hill and Dan Arnold to each take on more of a supporting role. The Saints clearly value Watson's leadership, but even if the 14-year vet were to return for another season, it's unclear if it would be for New Orleans considering the offseason addition of Jared Cook.

Goff is not expected to receive a contract extension this offseason, Jeremy Bergman of NFL.com reports.

This isn't exactly a surprise, as Goff's fifth-year option is still significantly cheaper ($20 million) than what he'd receive via an extension --- a particularly vital fact considering recent spending sprees on Aaron Donald, Brandin Cooks and Todd Gurley in the past nine months. While Goff has improved in each of his two seasons with head coach Sean McVay, questions still linger about the quarterback's ability to lead his team to an NFL championship, with a 229-yard, one-interception stinker in the most recent Super Bowl acting as a glaring spotlight. Recency bias aside, Goff is certainly deserving of a pay raise, sporting the fifth-most passing yards and fourth-most touchdowns in the league over the past two seasons combined. While it's possible Goff and his representation could wait till Patrick Mahomes receives his inevitable record-setting contract extension, the Rams might attempt to accelerate the negotiations in order to avoid what figures to be market-resetting figure. It just isn't expected to occur this offseason.

Gesicki has put on 10 pounds of muscle during the offseason, Dave Hyde of the Sun-Sentinel reports.

Gesicki never had much of an opportunity to display the type of athleticism that made him a second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, compiling just 22 catches and 220 yards in his rookie campaign. The largest knock on Gesicki's prospect profile was his inability to block, something that was likely on the mind of the Dolphins' brass when signing Dwayne Allen (primarily a blocking tight end), but the 23-year-old seems to be aware of the criticism, putting on additional muscle in an effort to be a more well-rounded option. Considering a rebuild seems to be a focal point in Miami, the Dolphins may well opt to give the majority of the snaps to their young tight end, particularly if he displays more promise as a blocker.

GM John Schneider wouldn't give a timeline for Baldwin's (knee/shoulder/groin) return to the field, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. "That's a process we are still working through," Schneider said. "He is recovering from that right now and we will see where it goes. ... He's a tough guy, though."

Baldwin has endured a trio of surgeries this offseason, the most recent one a sports hernia April 4. Prior to that procedure, coach Pete Carroll mentioned a recovery in the vicinity of 6-to-8 weeks, but it appears the Seahawks will exercise caution after all. With OTAs and mandatory minicamp on the docket in late May and early June, Baldwin may not get much on-field work at the Seahawks' facility before training camp kicks off in late July. No matter, his health is of utmost importance as newly minted Russell Wilson's No. 1 option in the passing attack, so expect Baldwin to return when back to full health.

Hageman (suspension) signed a contract with the Falcons on Friday, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Hageman has not played in the NFL since 2016, and despite being suspended for two games by the league earlier this month, the Falcons have elected to give him a second chance after legal troubles led to his release a few years ago. Atlanta does have an opening at defensive tackle following the departure of Terrell McClain, but Hageman will likely have to prove his behavior is in check before having a shot at the team's final roster.

Coach Dan Quinn emphasized Thursday that Davison will play a key role in helping Atlanta better defend the run in 2019, William McFadden of the Falcons' official sitereports. "We were really impressed, through free agency, about his ability to play the run," Quinn said. "We thought if we could add him into that mix of guys it would be really impactful for us."

Davison is set to fit into a key rotational role for the Falcons' defensive line in 2019, with an outside shot at earning starter reps if he is capable of outshining Jack Crawford and Deadrin Senat throughout training camp and the preseason. Crawford and Senat each posted higher performance grades than Davison last season -- they were the 52nd- and 55th-ranked defensive tackles according to Pro Football Focus, compared to Davison's No. 83 ranking. Despite not necessarily serving as a talent upgrade, Davison adds valuable veteran presence for a defense that finished 25th against the run in 2018.

Richardson clarified that his season-ending injury in 2018 included multiple fractures to the clavicle in his right shoulder, which required the insertion of a plate during surgery in early November, Jake Kring-Schreifels of the Redskins' official site reports.

Richardson initially picked up the injury in the early stages of training camp, and it grew worse as the campaign wore on, limiting him in practice, resulting in an absence Week 7 and eventually forcing him to IR and under the knife. Overall, his production fell short of the investment made in him by the Redskins last March -- five years, $40 million -- as he hauled in 20 of his 35 targets for 262 yards and two touchdowns in seven games. With a recovery timeline of 6-to-8 months, he may be able to join his teammates on the field during OTAs and mandatory minicamp in May and/or June. In the end, though, training camp is more realistic for an appearance. Whenever he's cleared, Richardson will be among newcomer Case Keenum's top options in the passing attack alongside Josh Doctson, Jordan Reed, Chris Thompson, Vernon Davis and Trey Quinn.

Miller's goals include 20 sacks in 2019 and, eventually, the all-time sack record, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic Denver reports.

On one hand, what is Miller supposed to say, that he wants to take it easy this year? Perhaps the more interesting element of the story is head coach Vic Fangio's response -- saying that Miller can reach his goals if he does the little things right in preparation. That can be read as either tempering expectations or maybe even a shot at Miller or the former coaching staff. Either way, given his influence on the likes of Khalil Mack and Aldon Smith in his previous stops, it will be interesting to see how Fangio tries to get the most out of Miller and his counterpart Bradley Chubb in 2019.
