Before spring training was shut down, Pirates right-hander Nick Burdi had shown that he is now fully healthy -- routinely hitting triple digits with his fastball.
The 27-year-old hurler underwent Tommy John surgery in 2017, then missed the majority of the 2019 season after undergoing surgery for neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome. He was turning heads in Grapefruit League play, posting a 1.93 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 8/1 K/BB ratio over 4 2/3 innings of work. He should have a spot in the Pirates' bullpen once the season ultimately begins and could be a darkhorse candidate to work himself into a high-leverage role. Apr 11 9:12 am (EST)
