Bucs GM Jason Licht said the team has had discussions with free agent WR Antonio Brown throughout the offseason. 
Licht added that the Bucs have "put an emphasis on bringing back players from last year," and that Brown would be no different. "Put an emphasis" is a bit of an understatement from Licht. Running it back with the 2020 roster has been the sole focus of Tampa Bay's offseason. Backup OT Joe Haeg earned the largest contract for a Tampa Bay player who left the team. He signed a two-year deal with Pittsburgh for $4.6 million. Brown is one of the few players to even start a game for the Bucs that they haven't gotten a deal done with. He just resolved his legal troubles with a sexual assault accuser so Brown should be open for business once again.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni refused to name Jalen Hurts as the team's starter and said there would be a quarterback competition this summer. 
Sirianni's announcement of a QB competition in Philadelphia can be seen as a rebuke of owner Jeffrey Laurie's reported desire for Jalen Hurts to get the Week 1 starting job. Beleaguered Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has denied those reports. Right now, Hurts would have the seemingly easy job of beating out Joe Flacco for the starting job, assuming the team doesn't draft a quarterback in the first couple rounds of next week's NFL Draft. "To name a starter at this particular time... we've been working with these guys for two days," said Sirianni, who apparently doesn't have access to film of Hurts' four 2020 starts. Hurts averaged 21.3 fantasy points in those starts -- seventh highest among QBs over the season's final month. He should be the Eagles' starter come September.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports free agent WR Antonio Brown has settled with Britney Taylor, who accused him of sexual assault. 
Taylor, a former collegiate gymnast, met Brown when both were students at Central Michigan University before Brown was drafted in 2010. Taylor alleged Brown sexually assaulted her twice in June 2017 and – after Brown allegedly expressed contrition about the incident – raped her in May 2018. Brown in 2019 countersued Taylor for defamation. Tom Brady ensured the seven-time Pro Bowl wideout's career wasn't sunk by Taylor's allegations, recruiting Brown to the Patriots in 2019 and again to the Bucs in 2020. Brown served as an ancillary part of Tampa's offense last season, catching 45 balls for 483 yards and four scores. The team is reportedly "not close" to re-signing him. Brown settling his case with Taylor could make pursuing Brown slightly less shameful for teams besides the Bucs.

Chris Carson said he and Rashaad Penny "can be one of the top rushing duos in the league."
The caveat, as Carson said in a recent interview, was whether the backs can stay healthy through an entire season. “We both bring different things to the game, different attributes, but we complement each other so well," Carson said. "I just feel like his limit is ridiculous once [Penny] starts getting his feet wet in the game. I think it’ll be something special.” Penny was among the Seahawks who coaxed Carson to return to Seattle after brief flirtations with other teams during free agency. Carson in March signed a two-year deal with the Seahawks; he'll resume his duties as the team's presumed starter in 2021. Penny, now 25, was Seattle's first round draft pick in 2018 and has since been plagued by injuries, including a horrific 2019 knee injury. A healthy Penny profiles as a third-down back who could sap some of Carson's fantasy appeal in 2021. Meanwhile, Carson, 26, has missed 21 games over his four year career. Though he isn't a lock to take on three-down duties should Carson miss time this season, Penny looks to be a reasonable target for Zero RB adherents.

Formers Lions RB Adrian Peterson said in an interview that he wants to play for a contender in 2021.
Peterson has never made it to a Super Bowl despite playing for five different teams across 14 seasons. Now 36 years old, Peterson is looking to be a role player on a talented roster rather than a workhorse on a basement-dweller. Pittsburgh and Miami are two teams with playoff-caliber rosters and sizable holes at running back. Peterson has previously talked about chasing Emmitt Smith's career rushing record, which he's currently 3,535 yards behind. A substantial workload while splitting time with a rookie could help him cut Smith's lead. Wherever Peterson lands, he's likely to take an uncomfortable amount of work away from a younger back, much to the chagrin of fantasy players.

Former Washington Football Team RB Bryce Love went unclaimed on waivers. 
Love tore his ACL in his final game at Stanford in 2019. Washington then selected him in the fourth round of the draft, knowing his rookie season would be lost to the recovery timetable. He made Washington's final roster in 2020 but was made a healthy scratch for three weeks before landing on IR with a setback in his knee. He did not come off IR and was waived this spring. Love managed to earn solid draft capital despite the redshirt season he faced and has a 2,000-yard season to his name in college. However, going unclaimed on waivers, which would have only cost a team $780K in non-guaranteed money is a bad look for the 23-year-old. He'll look to earn a name for himself as a depth signing in the summer with a good training camp showing possibly netting him one of 53 roster spots.
