NHL Best Bets for December 12

Calgary Flames at Vegas Golden Knights

Doesn't matter what team it is in this league, I love fading teams playing back to back nights! That is the situation Calgary finds themselves in tonight after falling short in a 6-5 loss to the Avalanche in a barn burner of a contest. Things don't get better tonight either as the Flames are 5-10 straight up on the road this season and meet Vegas. The Golden Knights are 10-2-2 on home ice this season and have scored 3.21 goals for to their 1.93 goals against in front of the Vegas Strip fans. The defensive stat is the best in the NHL this season too by the way. Looks like we will see Dustin Wolf tonight as well for the Flames with his 3.04 GAA, so Calgary is in big trouble and the odds reflect that so fade the Money Line and go for Vegas to win outright in regulation!

Pick: Vegas Golden Knights 60 minute Money Line (-140 on BetMGM)

Chicago Blackhawks at Edmonton Oilers

December has been an amazing month for the Oilers who have now won 7 in a row and are really lighting up the scoreboard again! During the streak they have scored 35 goals which is just bonkers and tonight they will play a Chicago team that allows 3.86 goals per game on the road this season. Edmonton as you would likely guess has gone over the total in 5 of the 7 games during the streak as well and I believe that's the play for us tonight. Overall the Oilers have gone 15-9-1 towards the over this season and while that's a good sample size to go off of they are a different team now than they were even 6 weeks ago and they are trending even greater to hitting overs right now. The main concern is Chicago not pulling their weight but luckily the Oilers goaltending has been pretty awful all season so I think we get to 7+ goals tonight no problem.

Pick: Blackhawks & Oilers Over 6.5 Goals (-135 on Caesars)

Arizona Coyotes at Pittsburgh Penguins

As weird as this season has been the Penguins are more strange than maybe any team as we move through the holiday season. They play great defense and are top 2 in the NHL in xGF/60 but don't score goals often and that has led of course to many under hits in the betting world. In 26 games this season Pittsburgh has gone under in 17 of those games, this is due to their defense that is allowing just 2.5 goals per game on home ice, the 4th fewest in the NHL and on offense its not much better as they average 2.67 goals per game. The Coyotes on the other hand are a bit more generous at 3.04 goals per game but they are starting Connor Ingram in net tonight it seems and his 2.52 GAA is tops on the team. I expect there to be plenty of shots tonight but I have to fade the total towards the under with all we have seen this season.

Pick: Coyotes & Penguins Under 6.5 Goals (-130 on HardRock)

NHL DOG OF THE DAY

Detroit Red Wings vs St. Louis Blues (+115 on PointsBet)
