NFL DFS Week 9 WR Coach for Fanduel & DraftKings Fantasy

Be sure to keep an eye on this for updates throughout the week, because there are a few situations I’m monitoring, namely the injury reports for the Houston Texans, Chicago Bears, and Cincinnati Bengals, amongst others. After sifting through the data and crunching the numbers, I’ve identified my favorite plays at the position this week, and there should be a receiver or two at every price point to give you plenty of options when building your NFL DFS lineups this week, headlined by none other than Ja'Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals.

NFL Week 9 Wide Receivers

Quick notes on the slate:

This is a living, breathing resource, and it will be updated as the week goes on, based on injury news, practice reports, etc. By Sunday, you may see some players removed who were earlier featured, or perhaps some players added as we approach Sunday kickoff.

NFL DFS WR Top Tier Picks for Week 9

Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions - DraftKings: $8,300 | FanDuel: $9,100

St. Brown just continues to get it done and be worth every penny in DFS. He’s scored seven touchdowns in as many games this season, including posting 70+ receiving yards in all but two games. Over the team’s last three games, St. Brown has a 35.4% target share and 2.89 yards per route run, and during this three-game stretch, half of his routes have come from out wide (0.33 targets per route run, 1.80 yards per route run), per FantasyPoints. The Vikings have allowed the most yards per route run to perimeter receivers this season, and this is also why I think Jameson Williams is intriguing in GPPs.

Rashee Rice, Kansas City Chiefs - DraftKings: $7,600 | FanDuel: $8,200

Since Rice has returned to action, he leads the team in targets and receptions, while catching nearly 90 percent of his targets and posting 2.93 yards per route run, per FantasyPoints. In two games, he’s posting over one full fantasy point per route run, and Kansas City has moved the ball at will the last two weeks. Dating back to 2023, here are the game totals for matchups between the Chiefs and Bills (including playoffs): 37, 51, 51, and 61. Trust Patrick Mahomes’ WR1 in what is the betting favorite to be the highest scoring game of the main slate.

Puka Nacua, Los Angeles Rams - DraftKings: $8,500 | FanDuel: $9,500

The expectation is that Nacua plays this week, and if he does, we are firing him up without concern. The Saints love to sit in Cover 3, and Nacua leads the Rams with 0.88 fantasy points per route run against Cover 3 this season, per FantasyPoints. Oh, that mark is the best in the league amongst wide receivers! No big deal! The game script is a bit of a concern with Tyler Shough starting for New Orleans against this tough Los Angeles defense, but Nacua can get 20+ fantasy points in the matter of one half.

NFL DFS WR Mid-Tier Picks for NFL Week 9

Ladd McConkey, Los Angeles Chargers - DraftKings: $6,000 | FanDuel: $7,800

The Titans traded away Roger McCreary, so Tennessee will have a new regular slot corner in this one, which is likely to be Amani Hooker. So far in slot coverage this season, Hooker has allowed one TD, a 133.3 passer rating when targeted, and 1.40 yards per coverage snap, per PFF. Over his last four games, McConkey has a 26.5% target share, 2.01 yards per route run, and an average of 73.5 yards per game.

Michael Pittman, Indianapolis Colts - DraftKings: $5,900 | FanDuel: $7,200

I’ve beat the drum for Josh Downs in recent weeks, but I’m going to be more invested in Pittman in Week 9. The Steelers have allowed the third-most fantasy points to perimeter wideouts and the most yards per game to perimeter pass-catchers this season, per FantasyPoints. When lined up out wide this season, Pittman has recorded 2.20 yards per route run, 0.28 targets per route run, and 0.141 first downs per route run, per FantasyPoints. To put that in perspective, amongst wide receivers with at least 75 routes run out wide, those marks rank 24th, 13th, and 5th, respectively.

DK Metcalf, Pittsburgh Steelers - DraftKings: $5,500 | FanDuel: $7,600

Not only have the Colts allowed the third-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers this season, but they’ve also allowed the ninth-most fantasy points per game to perimeter wideouts, per FantasyPoints. Metcalf has handled 48.1% of the team’s air yards over the last four weeks (3 games), and he has a healthy 2.15 yards per route run. Most of his routes the last few weeks have come from the left side, meaning he’ll see a lot of Indy’s right corner, which is Johnathan Edwards. The undrafted rookie has allowed 17.6 yards per reception and a 113.8 passer rating when targeted. On the other side, he’ll see Mekhi Blackmon, who has allowed the eighth-most yards in coverage and over 14 yards per reception this season, per PFF.

NFL Week 9 DFS WR Value Picks

ADDED: Parker Washington, Jacksonville Jaguars - DraftKings: $3,700 | FanDuel: $5,300

With Travis Hunter going on injured reserve, Washington will likely be asked to step in the Jacksonville WR room. The Raiders have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points per game to wideouts this season, and the seventh-most fantasy points to slot receivers, per FantasyPoints. Washington has stepped up in similar situations in the past, and he already has two games with 10+ targets this season. If you can stomach it, Brian Thomas is intriguing here as well.

Khalil Shakir, Buffalo Bills - DraftKings: $5,300 | FanDuel: $6,100

Shakir just went for a season-high 88 yards, and he found the end zone for the third time on the season. He’s yet to have a truly monster game, though he’s no stranger to this Chiefs team. Trent McDuffie is playing outside a lot, so he’ll see Chamarri Conner in the slot more often than not, and Conner has allowed a 121.1 passer rating and 1.31 yards per coverage snap in slot coverage this season, per Pro Football Focus. Over the team’s last three games, Shakir has a 26.3% target share, 2.41 yards per route run, and 11.8 expected fantasy points per game, per FantasyPoints.

Olamide Zaccheaus, Chicago Bears - DraftKings: $3,300 | FanDuel: $5,100

UPDATE: Burden is out, so Zaccheaus has minimal competition for his slot reps.

Luther Burden isn’t taking a ton of routes at Zaccheaus’ expense, but if he were to miss the Week 9 game, he’s unrivaled for snaps out of the slot against a Bengals team that has allowed the seventh-most yards per game and 2nd-most yards per route run to the slot, per FantasyPoints. Zaccheaus reeled in all seven of his targets last week, albeit for just 33 yards, and the matchup doesn’t get much better than this, as Dax Hill has allowed 1.63 yards per coverage snap and a 116.8 passer rating when targeted, per PFF. He can only be played on DraftKings with the PPR scoring, and the ceiling is relatively low, considering Week 8 was the first time he scored double-digit fantasy points in a game this season. I like Rome Odunze, too, if you want to pony up some more cash.

Wan’Dale Robinson, New York Giants - DraftKings: $5,100 | FanDuel: $5,900

The 49ers have allowed the second-most fantasy points per game and third-most yards per game to the slot, and Robinson is the next man up in this role! In four full games since Malik Nabers went down, Robinson has posted 1.93 yards per route run, but on just his routes from the slot, he’s up to 2.10 yards per route run, and 0.24 targets per route run, per FantasyPoints. Despite just one touchdown over his last four games, he’s averaging five receptions, 7.5 targets, and 64.3 yards per game.

NFL DFS WR Fade for Week 9

Courtland Sutton, Denver Broncos - DraftKings: $6,500 | FanDuel: $7,500

The vast majority of Sutton’s routes come on the perimeter, and there’s not much room to be had out there against the likes of Derek Stingley (71.3 passer rating when targeted) and Kamari Lassiter (78.1 passer rating when targeted), per PFF. Troy Franklin out of the slot has the better matchup against Jalen Pitre. In terms of yards per target and fantasy points per game to perimeter wideouts, Houston ranks 8th and 9th, respectively, and overall, they rank 4th in fantasy points per game to the position, per FantasyPoints. This Houston defense is legit, they “swarm” at home, and when pressured this season, Bo Nix has a 42.6% completion rate and 4.32 yards per attempt.

NFL Week 9 WR Play of The Week

Ja'Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals - DraftKings: $8,400 | FanDuel: $9,700

UPDATE: Flacco is expected to play, so expect another 12+ targets for Chase in this one.

Commence the prayer circle that Joe Flacco’s shoulder doesn’t keep him out of Week 9! Chicago has really struggled in slot coverage this season, especially so when Kyler Gordon is out. If Kyler Gordon misses Week 9, Nick McCloud will be the primary slot corner, and he’s allowed 2.03 yards per coverage snap and a perfect 158.3 passer rating when targeted, per PFF. Even if Gordon is out there, Chase is simply too darn good, and the overall volume for Chase is conducive to elite fantasy production. In three games with Joe Flacco, Chase is averaging 17.7 targets, 115.3 receiving yards, and 28.1 fantasy points per game. Yes, you are reading those numbers correctly.
