Without further ado, let’s dive into the Week 2 DFS WR Coach, exclusively at Fantasy Alarm!

NFL DFS Week 2 WR Coach for Fanduel & DraftKings Fantasy

At a quick glance of the games on the slate, the Jacksonville-Cincinnati game is going to catch the eyes of many, but that’s not the only potential shootout I see. I can see the Browns-Ravens game turning out quite lucrative for DFS purposes, as well as a few others on the board. We are only one week into the season, but there are already a few things we are seeing that help us at the wide receiver position, like Jaxon Smith-Njigba is an absolute stud, and DraftKings’ pricing on multiple young players is still very, very soft this week, whereas FanDuel has adjusted a bit more quickly.

NFL Week 2 Wide Receivers

Quick notes on the slate:

This is a living, breathing resource, and it will be updated as the week goes on, based on injury news, practice reports, etc. By Sunday, you may see some players removed who were earlier featured, or perhaps some players added as the week goes on.

NFL DFS WR Top Tier Picks for Week 2

Puka Nacua, Los Angeles Rams - DraftKings: $7,600 | FanDuel: $8,400

Nacua just tore up the Houston secondary, which is expected to be one of the better units in the entire NFL. Sean McVay is an offensive mastermind who knows how to scheme Nacua open and get him into advantageous spots. Expect more of that here in Week 2 against a Tennessee team that played a lot of zone coverage in Week 1, and back in 2024, Nacua had the fourth-highest first-read rate (35.2%) and best yards per route run (3.64) in the league amongst WRs with at least 75 routes against zone coverage, per Fantasy Points.

Ja'Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals - DraftKings: $8,100 | FanDuel: $9,000

Jacksonville played a good bit of zone in Week 1, and if they are content to do that this week, good luck slowing down Chase. Sure, it was a quiet Week 1 for one of the best WRs in the NFL, but Chase posted 3.11 yards per route run and a 36.5% first read rate against zone coverage last season, per Fantasy Points. The total for the game is pushing 50, and I expect some points to be scored. Chase will find the end zone this week. Book it.

Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions - DraftKings: $7,000 | FanDuel: $8,000

Life in Detroit post-Ben Johnson didn’t start on a high note, and it’s a tough matchup here in Week 2 against a pretty stout Chicago secondary. The Bears allowed the third-highest yards per route run out of the slot in Week 1, per Fantasy Points, and guess who happens to be one of the best slot receivers in the NFL the past two seasons? You guessed it! Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions. Jared Goff prefers to play at home, and St. Brown posted 2.19 yards per route run and 0.73 fantasy points per route run against man coverage last season (Chicago played man coverage at the second-highest rate in Week 1), per Fantasy Points.

CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys - DraftKings: $7,800 | FanDuel: $8,700

This Giants secondary stinks, and Lamb just had 13 targets in a Week 1 loss against Philadelphia. I like George Pickens in this game, too, as the Giants' corners out wide aren’t any good, but the Dak-to-Lamb connection is simply too much to ignore. Dallas should play with a lead, but they’ll continue to throw the ball, and have I mentioned that New York’s secondary stinks yet?

NFL DFS WR Mid-Tier Picks for NFL Week 2

Courtland Sutton, Denver Broncos - DraftKings: $6,300 | FanDuel: $7,000

Sutton is a zone killer (6 TDs, 2.61 yards per route run vs. zone in 2024, per PFF), and Indy played zone defense at the 10th-highest clip in Week 1, per PFF. This cornerback room is banged up and isn’t all that impressive, and this Denver offense is far better than the Miami unit the Colts saw in Week 1. Sutton has a significant size advantage over most of the Indy corners, notably Xavien Howard, and if he can continue to separate like he did in Week 1 (and most of 2024), this should be a good spot for him.

Garrett Wilson, New York Jets - DraftKings: $6,500 | FanDuel: $7,300

We’re only one game into the season, so it’s hard to go too crazy with possible trends, but Wilson’s 46.2 snap share in the slot would be the highest of his career by a wide margin (previous career high was 36.1% in 2022, per PFF). He posted the 11th-best win rate amongst WRs out of the slot last week, per FantasyPoints, and the overall usage numbers are elite. There are fantasy points to be had against this Buffalo defense, and Buffalo allowed the second-most fantasy points to perimeter receivers in Week 1, per Fantasy Points. Wheels up again for Wilson!

DeVonta Smith, Philadelphia Eagles - DraftKings: $5,600 | FanDuel: $6,400

UPDATE: Dallas Goedert isn't going to play in this one, and in the seven games Goedert missed last season, Smith averaged nearly 70 yards per game in those contests. Smith is really, really hard to pass on at his price point, especially on DraftKings.

Other than Trent McDuffie, no Kansas City corner or safety was particularly good in slot coverage, as Chamarri Conner, Jaden Hicks, and Bryan Cook combined to allow all seven targets to be caught for 59 yards and a touchdown, per PFF. The Eagles weren’t overly prolific through the air in Week 1, but the Chiefs allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to the slot in Week 1, and Smith ran two-thirds of his routes in Week 1 out of the slot.

Hollywood Brown, Kansas City Chiefs - DraftKings: $5,200 | FanDuel: $6,500

UPDATE: Xavier Worthy is OUT. Wheels up for Hollywood!

Travis Kelce is far removed from his prime, Rashee Rice is suspended, and Xavier Worthy is doubtful. Brown handled a 35.9 percent target share and a whopping 40 percent first read in Week 1, per Fantasy Points! It’s not the easiest matchup against a solid Philadelphia secondary, but if Week 1 was any indication, it’s going to be the Hollywood Brown show once again, and I expect Kansas City to be pass-happy yet again (highest neutral pass rate in Week 1, per Fantasy Points).

Tetairoa McMillan, Carolina Panthers - DraftKings: $5,400 | FanDuel: $5,700

McMillan was impressive in Week 1, stepping right into the alpha WR1 role for this team, commanding a 22.9 percent target share, 40.6 percent air yards share, and 27.3 percent first read rate, per FantasyPoints. I think Arizona’s defense is underrated, but the Bryce Young to McMillan duo is more formidable than any duo the Cardinals saw in Week 1 against Arizona. McMillan is a matchup nightmare for this defense, and playing from behind should pad those stats.

NFL Week 2 DFS WR Value Picks

Travis Hunter, Jacksonville Jaguars - DraftKings: $5,200 | FanDuel: $5,900

Cleveland crushed Cincinnati out of the slot, as the trio of Cedric Tillman, Jerry Jeudy, and tight end Harold Fannin managed to catch a combined eight passes on 12 targets for 107 yards. Hunter saw the most targets out of the slot for Jacksonville in Week 1, and I’d expect that trend to continue in a possible Week 2 shootout with the Bengals.

Cedric Tillman, Cleveland Browns - DraftKings: $4,300 | FanDuel: $5,400

The Ravens are heavy favorites in this game, so the game script should be there for Tillman and the Browns' passing attack. Cleveland was pass-heavy in Week 1, and they figure to be the same in Week 2, especially with playing from behind and seeing that Buffalo had success through the air. Baltimore allowed the second-most fantasy points in Week 1 to wide receivers, and those snaps against Jaire Alexander will be beneficial for Tillman. Baltimore is going to want to play man coverage again, and Alexander did not look good on Sunday night today, the least, and the stats weren’t all that glowing for Nate Wiggins either (85.7 Rec%, 113.1 passer rating when targeted, per PFF).

Elic Ayomanor, Tennessee Titans - DraftKings: $3,200 | FanDuel: $4,800

Guess who had the seventh-most air yards in Week 1 of the NFL season? Yes, it was Ayomanor. While it ultimately didn’t amount to much, this Rams secondary is a bit more vulnerable than a stout Denver unit the rookie went up against in Week 1. This could be a potential trap game for the Rams – if you can have one as early as Week 2 – as the Rams will travel across the United States in a game they are likely going to be widely expected to win. At his price point, he doesn’t need to do much to pay off the price, and the numbers under the hood are impressive (20.0% route win rate, 0.28 targets per route run).

Malik Washington, Miami Dolphins - DraftKings: $3,300 | FanDuel: $4,600

UPDATE: Waddle logged two limited practices before practicing in full on Friday, so that hurts Washington a bit. New England is banged up in the secondary, so it's a good matchup for the Miami passing attack, but Washington becomes a super deep dart throw at best with Waddle expected to handle a full snap share.

Washington might become rather chalky by week’s end, as there’s more off-the-field drama with Tyreek Hill, and Jaylen Waddle is dealing with a shoulder issue. If Waddle misses this game, ownership on Washington likely skyrockets, as Miami is desperate for playmakers and chainmovers on offense, and he averaged five targets and 42.3 receiving yards per game in the four contests he played at least half of the offensive snaps in 2024. Also, an intriguing matchup out of the slot, too, as New England allowed the most yards per route run and yards per target over expectation to the slot in Week 1, per Fantasy Points.

NFL DFS WR Fade for Week 2

Cooper Kupp, Seattle Seahawks - DraftKings: $5,000 | FanDuel: $5,700

Kupp’s separation numbers were lackluster in Week 1, and the change of scenery hasn’t appeared to bring back the juice and quick-twitch elements of his game that really disappeared down the stretch last season. The good news is that he was second on the team in targets, but the bad news is that he saw just three targets and posted a mark of -2.0 yards per target over expectation, per Fantasy Points. I won’t be playing him in DFS until I see the old Cooper Kupp (if that’s even possible) with his new club.

NFL Week 2 WR Play of The Week

Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle Seahawks - DraftKings: $6,000 | FanDuel: $7,400

JSN saw a massive 56.5 percent target share in Week 1, and for the people who were worried about if he could handle playing outside more frequently and without another top-tier wideout, worry no more. In Week 1, when lined up out wide, he posted 7.00 yards per route run, 1.5 yards per target over expectation, and a 101.1 passer rating when targeted, per Fantasy Points. Next up for JSN and the Seahawks is a matchup against the Steelers, a team that just let Justin Fields complete over 70 percent of his passes, something he had done just four times in his previous 19 starts.
