Giants vs. Bills Predictions For NFL Preseason Week 1, Saturday 8/9
Ok, we know that the Giants play in New Jersey, but regardless, they always bring intrigue to the New York sports markets, and that continues this preseason. That’s because after several years of QB Daniel Jones under center, who we saw on Thursday night with the Colts, the Giants moved on from the Duke product.
Not only did they then draft Jaxson Dart out of Ole Miss, but they also signed veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston to compete for that vacated position. With that in mind, New York head coach Brian Daboll is apparently going back to his original preseason approach.
When he was hired back in 2022, he opted to play starters in the preseason. He then decided against it the following year, but now, with a position battle of sorts, we’re to expect starters to see the field. While it likely won’t be much and Russell Wilson is already listed as the starter, it’s still important info to have.
On the complete opposite end of the spectrum are the Bills. As perennial Super Bowl contenders thanks to QB Josh Allen, head coach Sean McDermott can focus solely on injury prevention in the preseason. Knowing all of the above helps lock in a best bet from our Giants vs. Bills predictions!
Giants vs. Bills Best Bet: Under 37.5 Points (-105 At DraftKings)
As we’ll always preach with preseason action - let’s not risk the mortgage with any Giants vs. Bills picks. With that out of the way, we’re taking an approach that you'll likely see quite often during the preseason - unders.
You’ll notice that the Giants vs. Bills odds have this matchup set to one of the highest totals of the Week 1 slate, and it’s even priced towards the over! Sure, Brian Daboll may elect to play starters more than last year, but that isn’t saying much for New York. If anything, we’d be more concerned about a classic Jameis Winston pick-six leading to more points for the Bills.
Speaking of which, points have come at a premium for Buffalo in the preseason. Last season, we saw them score just six and nine points in two of their three preseason games, and they even won one of those by allowing just three points!
Similarly, the Giants lost their preseason opener last year 10-6 and then proceeded to score just 10 and 14 points in their next two matchups. Outside of being guaranteed not to see Daniel Jones trip over his own feet, there’s simply not much pointing towards a high-scoring game on Saturday afternoon.
Therefore, the best bet from our Giants vs. Bills predictions is under 37.5 points (-105 at DraftKings Sportsbook).
