We have NFL action TOMORROW! Sure, it is just the NFL Hall of Fame game, the very first game of a long preseason, but it is live football action nonetheless. As we approach NFL preseason, more NFL life news is dropping every single day. Lucky for you, we have our NFL training camp updates to keep you informed on every single piece of news and information.

🤔 NFL Training Camp Updates For Today, 8/5

During yesterday’s NFL training camp report, we highlighted some new contracts for Bijan Robinson and Zay Flowers, along with news regarding tomorrow’s Hall of Fame game. Yesterday, Chicago Bears OT Darnell Wright also received a contract extension with the team that made him the highest-paid Right Tackle in NFL history. Today, we have some more NFL contract dominoes falling into place before the regular season begins, but this time it is for a free agent. So, with all that being said, let’s dive into today’s NFL training camp report!

🏈 NFL Training Camp Live News - Stefon Diggs Signs with the Washington Commanders

Stefon Diggs Signs with Washington Commanders

Well, rest in peace Brandon Aiyuk’s hopes and dreams. One of the best remaining free agents, Stefon Diggs, has officially agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Washington Commanders worth up to $12 million. This signing is somewhat of a homecoming for Diggs, as he grew up in the DMV area.

Last season, Stefon Diggs was able to put up his seventh 1,000-yard campaign in his first year with the New England Patriots. Even in a limited role, he was able to prove that he still has elite separation skills, and he should instantly upgrade the Commanders' offense.

If you want insights on the full fantasy football fallout of Diggs to the Commanders, check out Andrew Cooper’s full breakdown here!

Young Receivers Make Early Impressions

The young guys can’t let the veteran wide receiver take up ALL the headlines! Some young playmakers have been shining in NFL training camp reports across different teams.

The first standout has been Ravens rookie WR Ja’Kobi Lane, who has been one of the MVPs in Ravens camp thus far. Today, Offensive Coordinator Declan Doyle compared the big-bodied receiver to former All-Pro Michael Thomas. With the Ravens lacking proven receiving talent outside of Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews, Lane has a clear runway to earn playing time.

Houston Texans second-year receiver Jayden Higgins has also been dominant thus far in NFL training camp. Coming off a disappointing loss in the 2025/26 playoffs, C.J. Stroud and the Texans are looking for more production on offense, and Higgins could be the player to provide it.

Two other second-year receivers, Matthew Golden of the Green Bay Packers and Tre’ Harris of the Los Angeles Chargers, have also shown noticeable improvements since beginning training camp. All these players could be potential fantasy football training camp winners as they look to carve out greater roles in the regular season.

📈Fantasy Football Winners Of The Day

Omarion Hampton Shows Growth

Omarion Hampton truthers, stand up! Offensive Coordinator Mike McDaniel had high praise for the running back today, noting he had arguably "the most growth of any player" since McDaniel joined the team. With the amount of success McDaniel has had in his career with different running backs, Hampton could be in for a massive season in fantasy football, currently being drafted as the RB9.

Jeremiyah Love Will Not Play the Hall of Fame Game

Typically, in our NFL training camp reports, we find it good news for a young player when they are resting in the preseason with the rest of the important players, veterans, and starters. Well, that will be the case for Jeremiyah Love tomorrow, as he will not suit up for the Hall of Fame game.

A lot has already been said about the committee he will likely be stuck in alongside other talented running backs like Tyler Allgeier, James Conner, and Trey Benson, but we will have to see which backs are taking snaps with the rest of the backups tomorrow, because we know it won’t be Love.

📉 Fantasy Football Losers Of The Day

Chig Okonkwo No Longer De Facto WR2

As a Chig Okonkwo fan, I was fired up to see all the reports that he was working as the Commanders’ number two in the receiving game. That time has very quickly seemed to come to an end with Diggs joining the Commanders on a one-year deal. While I am still confident that Okonkwo will produce better than he has in Tennessee, the ceiling has been limited greatly with Diggs now taking away some targets, making him a fantasy football training camp loser.

Broncos RB Room Looks Like a Committee

Coming into the season, it has always seemed like the Denver Broncos backfield would be more of a committee. There was still value to be had if it was just going to be J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey, but now another running back is making a name for himself: Jonah Coleman. Head Coach Sean Payton noted that Coleman “doesn’t feel like a rookie.” With more snaps being split, it is hard to imagine any of these backs having consistent, game-to-game fantasy value.

🩼 NFL Training Camp Injury Updates - The 49ers Injury Bug Strikes Again

When looking into an NFL training camp report, it is also important to stay up to date with all the injuries around the league and NFL Training Camp Live News.

The San Francisco 49ers Injury Bug Strikes Again

The 49ers have to be cursed. It’s that, or it really IS the electrical substation that is destroying every player’s joints and tendons. Today’s injury report featured several notable players, and a single preseason game hasn’t even been played yet. Nick Bosa, Dre Greenlaw, Osa Odighizuwa, Kyle Juszczyk, Jacob Cowing, Mike Evans, De’Zhaun Stribling, Craver Willis, and Brett Toth all missed practice today. Sam Okuayinonu and Nick Zakelj also had to leave practice early with injuries. Add all that on top of Ricky Pearsall being out for the year and George Kittle still recovering from injury, and the 49ers are in shambles.

In response to all the injuries, the 49ers brought in receiver KhaDarel Hodge and pass rusher Ogbo Okoronkwo. Maybe now that Diggs is a Commander, Brandon Aiyuk might want to come back too?

Jaylen Waddle Leaves Practice Early

After being acquired by the Denver Broncos via trade, expectations are high for Jaylen Waddle. Even Head Coach Sean Payton loosely compared him to Jesus Christ! Jokes aside, I am excited for Waddle this year in fantasy football, especially with how the Broncos said they want to use him. That makes it all the more scary when he leaves practice early with a trainer.

The injury was reportedly just “muscle tightness,” and Waddle should be fine moving forward, but it is certainly something to monitor, as Waddle has missed time for injury in the past.

Other Notable Injury Updates

  • Falcons OLB Jalon Walker will miss the 2026 season after an MRI confirmed he tore his ACL yesterday at practice.
  • Bears LB T.J. Edwards was activated from the non-football injury list.
  • Chiefs WR Rashee Rice participated in 11-on-11 drills for the first time in training camp.
  • Vikings WR Jordan Addison will miss a few days of practice after jamming his thumb.
  • Giants DL Roy Robertson-Harris was placed on IR.
  • Eagles RT Lane Johnson remained out of practice for the fourth day due to personal reasons.
