NFL Training Camp Updates, Live News, Injuries

Dallas Cowboys & Micah Parsons Far Apart From Deal

After seeing both Myles Garrett and T.J. Watt break the bank at the edge rusher position, each getting over $40 million per year, Dallas Cowboys superstar Micah Parsons is next in line for his payday. Unfortunately, it seems like Parsons and the Cowboys are further apart on a deal than they were back in March.

On Sunday, the Cowboys decided to make Jake Ferguson the highest-paid tight end in franchise history, inking him to a four-year $52 million deal, but they do not seem to have the same urgency for their All-Pro pass rusher.

With Jerry Jones publicly acknowledging the fact that he hasn't paid Parsons, the question remains if they will get him signed just before the season (similarly to their situation with Ceedee Lamb last offseason) or will this look more like the Raiders situation with another superstar edge rusher back in 2018, when Khalil Mack was sent to the Chicago Bears after he was unable to reach an agreement with Raiders’ management.

Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears Practice Heats Up

Speaking of the Chicago Bears, after a rough start offensively under new head coach Ben Johnson, it looks like the offense has started to click. Caleb Williams had his best practice thus far in the offseason, connecting with second-year receiver Rome Odunze (who Ben Johnson highlighted in his press conference) and first-round rookie Colston Loveland on several highlight plays. Johnson noted that Williams' improvement has been clear:

It was not all sunshine and rainbows at Bears' camp, though. After returning from injury yesterday, second-round rookie wide receiver Luther Burden has reportedly struggled so far with the mental aspect of the practice, with Coach Johnson having to pull him from the first team after multiple misalignments and presnap penalties. Johnson noted that Burden is a little behind, but he and the rest of the Bears have responded well to Johnson's emphasis on perfection, competition, and intensity.

Detroit Lions Find Their Frank Ragnow Replacement

Many Detroit Lions fans were shocked when it was announced that their longtime superstar center, Frank Ragnow, was retiring at just 29 years old. This loss left a massive hole in their offensive line room that the Lions have yet to officially fill.

Many believed that second-round rookie Tate Ratledge would make the move to center, but similarly to many second-round picks in this year's draft, he got a later start to the Lions' offseason plans, which would make the position switch to center a little bit more difficult for a rookie who has played guard throughout his collegiate career.

Therefore, Plan A right now is to move veteran guard Graham Glasgow to center, which has reportedly looked good so far through a couple of days of padded practices.

Despite the Lions playing in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday, Lions fans will likely have to wait to see these offensive line shifts, since Head Coach Dan Campbell announced that he will be sitting his presumed starters and top rookies in the game.

Quinshon Judkins Update

The NFL Draft was now three months ago, yet one rookie still remains unsigned. Cleveland Browns second-round running back Quinshon Judkins was arrested July 12 after he allegedly punched a woman and has been directed to focus on his legal situation before worrying about his NFL contract.

Despite the legal issue, Browns owner Jimmy Haslam remains cautiously optimistic that the rookie will eventually sign and play for the team.

Quarterbacks Providing Highlight Plays

Of course, it wouldn't be a real NFL Training Camp Update without some highlights of every quarterback absolutely balling out!

Anthony Richardson has been looking great in just about every NFL Training Camp practice thus far. He could walk away with this QB1 job.

Michael Penix and Drake London have been the stars of the Atlanta Falcons' training camp thus far. Maybe this is the year that the Falcons steal the NFC South back from Tampa Bay.

Packers fans will LOVE to see this in the regular season. First-round rookie Matthew Golden has been working almost exclusively with the first-team offense and is being left on the field in two wide receiver sets. How could you even consider taking him off the field when he is making plays like this?

While Russell Wilson has been looking solid so far at the New York Giants training camp, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart has been consistently turning heads with throws like this one.

Fantasy Football Update: Aaron Jones & Jordan Mason Splitting Carries

For all the fantasy football fans out there, you might want to start fading Aaron Jones and targeting Jordan Mason at their current ADPs. In today's first padded practice, it was Mason who was on the field first, ahead of Jones, which has many speculating that the split between the running backs will be far closer to 50/50. With Jones going nearly 50 draft spots before Mason in most fantasy drafts, it might be time for Jordan Mason to be rising up draft boards.

NFL Training Camp Injury Update & Transactions: Malik Nabers Leaves Practice

On top of all of our NFL Training Camp Updates on the field, plenty of news happened off the field as well. Check out our NFL Training Camp Injury Update & Transactions:

Malik Nabers Injury Update

Star second-year receiver Malik Nabers had to leave practice early, grabbing at his shoulder. After having his shoulder checked out by team doctors, he appears to be okay, but the receiver also referenced a lingering toe injury that could potentially flare up again.

Hollywood Brown, Chiefs WRs Injury Update

The Kansas City Chiefs lost three receivers at today's practice: Hollywood Brown, Xavier Worthy, and Skyy Moore. Brown was carted off the field with an apparent leg injury, but head coach Andy Reid is optimistic that it is not too bad. Meanwhile, Skyy Moore is dealing with a hamstring injury, and Xavier Worthy “banged his head,” according to Reid.

Isaiah Likely & Martin Emerson Jr. Injury Update

Two standout stars in the AFC North were unfortunately carted off the field from their respective practices. Browns cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. and Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely both went down with apparent leg injuries at practice today. Martin Emerson is believed to have suffered an Achilles injury, while there is no further update available at this time for Likely's injury.

Jets Sign Nick Folk

Longtime kicker Nick Folk is returning to the New York Jets after most recently kicking for the team back in 2016. The 40-year-old kicker was on the Jets during their last playoff berth and win back in the 2010 season, so maybe he can reignite some magic for this new-look Jets team.

Nate Herbig Retires

After only five years in the league, offensive lineman Nate Herbig announced his retirement today. Herbig was first with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he made his first start in 2020 before starting several games for the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers as well.

Other Notable Injury Updates

Michael Pittman: Michael Pittman is reportedly dealing with a groin injury. He joins corners JuJu Brents and Jaylon Jones on the injury report as they recover from hamstring injuries.

Maxwell Hairston: Rookie Buffalo Bills corner Maxwell Hairston left practice early with a knee injury today.

Derrick Brown: Panthers star defensive tackle Derrick Brown is dealing with oblique soreness, which the team is choosing to be cautious with after Brown missed most of the 2024 season. Brown joins OL Chandler Zavala on the injury report, who is week-to-week with a knee injury.

Caelen Carson: The Cowboys' cornerback room grows even thinner, as Caelen Carson hyperextended his knee at today's practice and is expecting to miss upwards of two months. He joins fellow corners Trevon Diggs, Shavon Revel, and Josh Butler on the injury report. As a result, the Cowboys have signed CB Christian Matthew.

Terrion Arnold & Kerby Joseph: After dealing with several injuries earlier in the week, the Lions will now be without cornerback Terrion Arnold, as he is being evaluated for a hamstring injury. Luckily, safety Kerby Joseph, who has been dealing with knee irritation and has missed the last few practices, is expected to make his return after the Hall of Fame game.

MarShawn Lloyd & Dontayvion Wicks: Both MarShawn Lloyd and Dontayvion Wicks missed today's practice. Lloyd is dealing with a groin injury he suffered during yesterday’s practice, while Wicks is dealing with a calf injury.

Ashton Davis: Ashton Davis suffered an apparent lower leg injury at practice today and was later seen on crutches and in a walking boot.
