Yesterday, Jerry Jones decided to shake up the entire NFL outlook just a week before NFL Week One kickoff by trading superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. Today, there is plenty of news as well! The NFL regular season is right around the corner, and we still have several unanswered questions across several different teams, so let's dive into the NFL News & Rumors This Week!
Top NFL News & Rumors This Week:
Today's top NFL News and Rumors feature an update on the Micah Parsons Trade, Jabrill Peppers' release from the Patriots, and much more!
Jabrill Peppers Released
In a surprise move by the New England Patriots, just a few days removed from the roster cutdown deadline, Jabrill Peppers has been released by the team. Peppers has spent the last three seasons with the Patriots and has played at a high level, with the fourth-highest PFF grade over the past two years among all safeties. Peppers still has $4.32 million in guaranteed salary on his contract for this season. Heading into his ninth season, Peppers should find a new home fairly quickly.
Micah Parsons Trade Update
As mentioned, Micah Parsons has made the move up North. The Dallas Cowboys have traded the superstar pass rusher to the Green Bay Packers for two first-round picks and former All-Pro defensive tackle Kenny Clark. Clark should help out the Cowboys' rush defense, which allowed a total of 2331 yards and 4.8 yards per carry in 2024.
Meanwhile, Micah Parsons adds a whole new dimension to the Packers' pass rush. Immediately after the move, the Green Bay Packers jumped up to the favorites to win the NFC North at +165 and into the top five in odds to win the Super Bowl at +1220 via FanDuel Sportsbook.
Shield your eyes, Bears fans, because Parsons also agreed to a four-year, $188 million contract extension with the Packers with $136 million in guarantees, $120 million fully guaranteed at signing, and $62 million in the first year, meaning Parsons plans to be a Packer for the long run.

As a result, Crow has been placed on administrative leave, and the Dolphins organization is keeping in constant contact with the NFL while investigating the situation. Crow joined the Dolphins' coaching staff last season, spending the rest of his coaching career with the Tennessee Titans.
Fantasy Football News & Rumors
We are currently in peak fantasy football draft season, which means it is essential to keep up with all the latest news and rumors that could shake up your fantasy football targets and fades! Check out our latest Fantasy Football News & Rumors below, including Anthony Richardson's potential new role and a Darren Waller update!
Anthony Richardson to Take on a New Role With Indianapolis
Upon losing the starting quarterback battle for the Indianapolis Colts to Daniel Jones, many have suggested that former first-round pick Anthony Richardson could be deployed in certain short-yardage or red-zone packages, similar to Taysom Hill for the New Orleans Saints or Jalen Hurts before he won the starting job for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Head coach Shane Steichen, though, isn't willing to tip his hand just yet. When asked about a potential set of plays for Richardson, he responded with “we'll see,” emphasizing that he wants to make sure that Richardson crushes his new role as the backup to Daniel Jones before anything else.
If Richardson does take on a redzone rushing role, this could hurt the fantasy football stock for both Daniel Jones (currently QB33) and Jonathan Taylor (currently RB9), as Richardson is one of the most dynamic rushing threats in the NFL. Until this role is confirmed, though, both players are values at their current ADPs.
Darren Waller Knocking the Rust Off
Earlier this offseason, tight end Darren Waller came out of retirement to join the Miami Dolphins. In his prime, Waller was one of the most valuable tight ends in fantasy football, finishing as high as the TE2 in terms of points per game back in 2020. Waller notes that he is still knocking some rust off and that he is respecting the process and the grind of joining a new offense and coming out of retirement.
Waller is inheriting a significant role, though. Last year, as the Dolphins starting tight end, Jonnu Smith finished as the TE6, with 12.7 fantasy points per game. Should Waller shake off all of his “rust” and get back to prime form, he could be a fantasy football steal, currently going as the TE22.
