Welcome to the Sunday Night Showdown Slate for NFL Week 4!

The under-performing Eagles take on the battered and bruised 49ers, huh? I’m sure when the schedule-makers put this on the board, they were expecting a battle of two 3-0 teams with high-octane offenses. Instead, they get this. Ah well. Better than having the game cancelled by COVID, amirite?

Before we start, please allow me to reiterate that while we all love having a little skin in the game, these showdown slates are basically lottery tickets. Sure, there are times when the chalk hits and everyone shares in the prizes, but more often than not, you need that random, differentiate yourself from the herd dart-throw to hit in order to claim that top prize. As a result, we encourage to play responsibly. Stick to the GPP contests (single-entry preferred), don’t blow your whole bankroll and understand that, unless you are a max-entry player, you should prioritize having fun.

OK, lecture over. Let’s get to tonight’s action.

Prop Bets to Watch:

The reason we are listing these here is to help you understand what the Vegas expectations are. If you aren’t routinely amazed by how accurate spreads and totals are, you haven’t been paying attention and you’re missing out on a valuable tool. Take a look at the list below and understand how to utilize for DFS. When you see the over and under have the same money line, that’s Vegas’ way of saying it can go either way. You have the base number and can determine whether you use a player or not based on that. But when there is a different money line on the over and unders (highlighted in green), Vegas is telling you what to expect. A negative money line means they feel it is more likely to happen which can help you make decisions regarding which players to play.

Carson Wentz Passing Yards: 232.5 (over & under -112); TD Passes: 1.5 (over +136; under -175)

Nick Mullens Passing Yards: 265.5 (over & under -112); TD Passes: 1.5 (over -182; under +145)

Miles Sanders Rushing Yards: 63.5 (over & under -112); Receiving Yards: 30.5 (over & under -112)

Jerick McKinnon Rushing Yards: 57.5 (over +110; under -137); Receiving Yards: 21.5 (over -118; under -106)

Brandon Aiyuk Receiving Yards: 47.5 (over & under -112)

Kendrick Bourne Receiving Yards: 42.5 (over & under -112)

Greg Ward Jr. Receiving Yards: 48.5 (over & under -112)

John Hightower Receiving Yards: 24.5 (over & under -112)

George Kittle Receiving Yards: 52.5 (over & under -112)

Zach Ertz Receiving Yards: 53.5 (over & under -112)

Here’s a breakdown of which players we suggest looking at for tonight:

Quarterbacks:

Carson Wentz , PHI – The stage is set for a nice game for Wentz as the 49ers’ starting corners are both out. If only the Eagles had some healthy weapons. People are going to avoid him so he could prove to be an intriguing contrarian play, but he needs at least two TD passes to be a major factor. With Miles Sanders and Zach Ertz on his side, it’s definitely possible.

Nick Mullens , SF – He chucked it around pretty well last week, racking up 343 yards, but that was against the Giants. The Eagles, in spite of losing a few defensive backs themselves, are a better pass defense, so the yardage likely won’t be so abundant. However, with the way Kyle Shanahan runs this offense, the running backs are heavily involved in the pass attack and both George Kittle and Deebo Samuel return. If we’re choosing on QB over the other, we’re going to side with Mullens.

Running Backs:

Miles Sanders, PHI – The 49ers haven’t been tested on the ground this season and are still allowing 116.7 rushing yards per game. Sanders is a focal point in this system and should be able to rack up enough rushing and receiving yards to be a viable option. If you weren’t planning on using one of the tight ends in the Captain/MVP spot, Sanders makes for a solid choice.

Boston Scott , PHI – He’ll get some complementary work in as Doug Pederson likes to rotate in his backs, but he may not see enough touches to be a reliable option. He remains a dart-throw, however, as there is always a chance he gets work near the green zone.

Jerick McKinnon , SF – He had a strong game last week against the Giants and will be counted on as the primary back for the 49ers again this week. He showed he can take it between the tackles but his real bread and butter is in the passing game. The Eagles are allowing just over 40 yards per game to RB pass-plays, so look for the Niners to get McKinnon out in space.

Jeffery Wilson , SF – He’s the short-yardage specialist and also gets some work in the passing game down inside the green zone. He is definitely worth using and likely a contrarian pick for the Captain/MVP spot.

Wide Receivers:

Greg Ward Jr, PHI – Small, speedy and currently the No. 1 wideout for the Eagles. San Francisco is allowing just over 50 yards per game to the opposition’s top target, but again, that’s with their regular corners in the game. Look for the Eagles to stretch the field with him which could lead to a long TD.

John Hightower, PHI – There’s not a lot to go on as Hightower’s workload has been extremely limited over the first three weeks. He’s only going to be a worthwhile dart-throw if Wentz is on his game. Take that for what it is.

Deebo Samuel, SF – He’s going to be on a snap count here in his first action of the 2020 regular season. When he’s healthy, he’s a fantastic possession guy, but with him being eased in, he’s going to be tough to trust. Especially with Darius Slay hovering over him whenever he’s on the field.

Brandon Aiyuk, SF – He should be a nice option to get into lineups as the Eagles will likely be paying more attention to Samuel and Kittle. When the 49ers get into the red zone, he’s the perfect target to take shots at in the end zone.

Kendrick Bourne , SF – As good a dart-throw as any. We’ve seen him catch those random TDs in the back of the end zone, but with Deebo and Kittle back, the opportunity may not be there.

Tight Ends:

Zach Ertz , PHI – Obviously a strong possibility for your Captain/MVP slot as he should be heavily targeted by Wentz throughout this game as the shaky line should force a lot of quick passes. The Niners are likely to watch him closely, but he’s still going to get plenty of work and should find his way into the end zone.

George Kittle , SF – Going to be a very popular play tonight as the Eagles are allowing just over 45 yards per game to the tight end position and Kittle is an absolute baller. He’ll fight for each and every yard and is typically a first-look, especially inside the red and green zones.

Defense/Kickers:

Philadelphia Eagles D/ST – With so many injuries, it’s going to be tough to trust this defense, especially when the Eagles are a nine-point underdog.

San Francisco 49ers D/ST – No Jason Peters on the line for the Eagles is what pushed this line all the way up to nine. Remember, the Eagles are giving up a lot of sacks, so using the Niners could be a nice salary-saver.

Jake Elliott , PHI – Very likely a busy night, especially if the line doesn’t hold up for Wentz.

Robbie Gould , SF – Always reliable, though not sure if this is the game to use Gould. Maybe if the Eagles defense were a little stronger…
