NFL Injury Report 2025 - Fantasy Football Week 3: Joe Burrow, Aaron Jones
With Week 3 kicked off, it’s safe to say that football is going to look a bit different for the next few weeks. From superstars suffering near-season-ending injuries to minor nagging issues, all things must be taken into account for our lineups. Let’s find out everything we can about the injury landscape.

NFL Injury Report for Week 3: Fantasy Football InjuriesÂ
NFL Week 3 Injury Report: QuarterbacksÂ
Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Burrow suffered a Grade 3 Turf Toe injury, and has elected to have surgery. This surgery will sideline him for over three months. Jake Browning looked good in his place, but Cincinnati may consider trading for someone like Kirk Cousins as well. Burrow is droppable in most formats, and his pass catchers likely receive a knock on their overall rankings as well.
Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers
As expected, Purdy did not play this past weekend, and with as solid as Mac Jones performed, the 49ers might play it safe with Purdy and hold him out until he’s fully healthy from his own turf toe injury. Purdy’s status will be one to monitor but I’m expecting him to miss multiple games.
9/19 UPDATE
Purdy has returned to practice and is expected to play this weekend. Mac Jones looked good, but Purdy is their guy for a reason.
Justin Fields, New York Jets
Fields suffered a concussion in the second half of his Week 2 matchup and was removed from the game. Fields is officially in concussion protocol and will need to clear protocol to be eligible to return this coming week. Tyrod Taylor will start if Fields can’t go, which is a slight hit to all skill players on the roster. I’m expecting to have to find another QB this week if I roster Fields.
9/19 UPDATE
Fields suffered a concussion in the second half of his week 2 matchup and was removed from the game. Fields was unable to clear concussion protocol and, as a result, will miss their week 3 game. Tyrod Taylor will get the start.
J.J. McCarthy, Minnesota Vikings
McCarthy struggled in Week 2, and then we found out he’s dealing with an ankle injury that is likely to keep him out for two-to-four weeks. Vikings' pass catchers have slightly underperformed so far, and can potentially see increased production from Carson Wentz.
Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders
Daniels is now dealing with a knee injury, leaving his status for this coming week in doubt. Daniels was drafted highly for fantasy, so I would be prepared to find a replacement for him, as this early of an indication of a missed game is not promisingÂ
9/19 UPDATE
Daniels will officially miss this weekend's game, with Marcus Mariota getting the start. This is a likely hit to all Washington skill players.

NFL Week 3 Injury Report: Running Backs
Aaron Jones, Minnesota Vikings
Jones suffered a hamstring injury and ultimately was removed from the game. Jordan Mason took over as the lead back after this injury. The 30-year-old Jones is no stranger to injuries, and we will need to monitor this one through the week, though I expect him to be held out of at least one game due to the expected severity of this injury.
9/19 UPDATE
Jones suffered a hamstring injury and ultimately was placed on injured reserve. Jordan Mason is expected to take over as the lead back, though the Vikings did also add Cam Akers.
Josh Jacobs, Green Bay Packers
9/19 UPDATE
Jacobs is dealing with an ankle injury that has limited him in practices this week. I don’t expect this to keep him out, but monitor accordingly.
Zach Charbonnet, Seattle Seahawks
9/19 UPDATE
Charbonnet sat out practice this week with a foot injury. He is officially doubtful for this weekend's matchup. Kenneth Walker III is expected to continue to lead the backfield.
Austin Ekeler, Washington Commanders
Ekeler unfortunately suffered a torn Achilles and will be out for the remainder of the season. In his absence, Jacory (Bill) Croskey-Merritt is expected to take over the lead in the backfield, though Jeremy McNichols and Chris Rodriguez will likely remain used in a rotation as well.Â
Jaylen Wright, Miami Dolphins
Wright is still dealing with his knee injury, and is officially doubtful for Sunday. Expect Ollie Gordon to continue to operate as the RB2 behind Achane.
Will Shipley, Philadelphia Eagles
Shipley was held out of Thursday's practice with an oblique injury. While he operated as the RB2 for the Eagles in Week 1, between his injury and the trade for Tank Bigsby made earlier this week, I’m not expecting much out of Shipley for the foreseeable future. He can be dropped.

Â
NFL Week 3 Injury Report: Wide Receivers
Jayden Reed, Green Bay Packers
Reed suffered a broken collarbone in their Week 2 matchup that will sideline him for six-to-eight weeks. In his absence, expect Dontayvion Wicks, Romeo Doubs, and Matthew Golden to see increased work, as well as tight end Tucker Kraft who was the team's leading pass catcher in Week 2.
Emeka Egbuka, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
9/19 UPDATE
Egbuka is officially questionable for Tampa’s Week 3 matchup due to a hip/groin issue. I’m expecting Egbuka to play as he has returned to practice.
Christian Kirk, Houston Texans
Kirk was inactive this past weekend, but I’m leaning towards him being activated this coming Sunday. Kirk will likely need to log at least a couple practices to be sure, but if he’s active Week 3, he should provide value as the Texans de facto WR2.
Xavier Worthy, Kansas City Chiefs
Worthy suffered a dislocated shoulder, and while he did log some practice time, ultimately sat out their Week 2 matchup against the Eagles. That said, all reports seem to indicate Worthy is likely to be good to go for their Week 3 matchup. I’m going to lower his ranking with his injury, but he’s back in play as long as he’s active.
Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Though Godwin was able to log some practice, he will ultimately remain inactive. Him being able to practice is a good sign, but I’m expecting him to remain inactive at least until Week 4.

NFL Week 3 Injury Report: Tight Ends
Evan Engram, Denver Broncos
9/19 UPDATE
Engram, who previously dealt with a calf injury, is now dealing with a back injury. This has sidelined him from practice. I would play it safe a prepare to be without him.
Tucker Kraft, Green Bay Packers
9/19 UPDATE
Kraft suffered a knee injury this week. The injury has gone from potentially season-ending to him being fine to him potentially missing this weekend. I would prepare for him not to play, but I'm firing him up if active.
Isaiah Likely, Baltimore Ravens
Likely was unable to suit up in Week 2. That said, he’s making progress and is more likely to be available in Week 3. I’m expecting him to play, but maintain my sentiment that he belongs on waivers for the time being.
9/19 UPDATE
All signs point to Likely being active this week after missing the start of the season. I’m still under the thought of fading him for the time being, but you could do much worse if you’re dealing with injuries.
Dallas Goedert (Philadelphia Eagles)
9/20 UPDATE
Goedert’s injury will officially be just a one week injury, as he is off the injury report and will be back in the starting line up for fantasy managers.
