UPDATE: Friday, December 30th @ 4:00 pm ET

We have finally made it to NFL Week 17, otherwise known as fantasy football’s championship weekend. Where fantasy football champions are crowned and stars are born. There were a few crucial injuries that took place in Week 16 that we’ll need to pay attention to as the week progresses and we inch closer to the end of our fantasy campaigns. Let’s dive into new injuries, old injuries, and everything in between!

2022 NFL Injury Report Fantasy Football Week 17

NFL Quarterback Injury News

Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles - Shoulder

UPDATE: 12/30 @ 3:00 pm ET - Although Hurts practiced on Friday for the second consecutive day, he is being listed as doubtful on the Eagles final injury report. The team doctors will make the final call, but everything is pointing towards Gardner Minshew being the Week 17 starter.

UPDATE: 12/29 @ 4:15 pm ET - For the first time since Hurts was diagnosed with his shoulder issue he was back on the practice field. This doesn't guarantee his Week 17 status, but it was great to see him throwing the ball without seemingly any limitations. We've heard all week that he's pushing to play this week and this is a great first step. Seeing how he feels on Friday is going to be critical.

UPDATE: 12/28 @ 8:30 pm ET - The Eagles held a walkthrough on Wednesday and Jalen Hurts did not participate. That doesn't mean he won't play, but we'll need to see him back on the practice field either Thursday or Friday for us to have any confidence of him playing in Week 17.

Jalen Hurts himself said he’s day-to-day, so we’ll see how the Eagles approach this situation heading into Week 17. The Eagles need to win one more game to clinch the NFC East, but now that Dallas has a head-to-head win against them, there’s no guarantee they win it without Hurts. Now that he’s had a full week of rest, will that be enough for his SC joint in his shoulder to heal enough to where he can play? Monitor this week's practice reports.

Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens - Knee

UPDATE: 12/30 @ 3:00 pm ET - Lamar Jackson has officially been ruled out of the team's Week 17 game against the Steelers.

UPDATE: 12/29 @ 4:15 pm ET - Once again, Jackson was not a participant at practice on Thursday. As Tyler Huntley continues to take all the reps with the first time, Jackson's status has seriously come into question for Week 17.

UPDATE: 12/28 @ 2:30 pm ET - It was reported on Wednesday that Lamar Jackson was not on the practice field for the 10th straight day since injuring his knee. This was originally the targeted return week for Jackson, but this isn't a great start to his week.

We really don’t have much more clarity on Lamar Jackson’s situation today than we did yesterday. Head coach John Harbaugh was asked about Jackson after their Week 16 game and he really didn’t give much of an answer. All we learned is that Harbaugh is optimistic and we could see Jackson in Week 17. We’ll see about that, however, considering the Ravens have already clinched a playoff berth.

Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins - Concussion

UPDATE: 12/28 @ 2:30 pm ET - The Dolphins confirmed that Tagovailoa suffered another concussion on Christmas Day and the team is preparing that Teddy Bridgewater is going to be the starting quarterback in Week 17.

Despite playing the entire game in Week 16, the Dolphins placed Tua Tagovailoa in the concussion protocol. This is the third time this year he’s suffered a concussion. ESPN’s Adam Schefter posted a clip of when he thinks it could’ve taken place and the hit happened in the second quarter. It would make sense after seeing Tagovailoa’s second half in Week 16 that he was dealing with something after watching some of the decisions he was making. He’ll have until Sunday to clear protocol’s, so monitor this week’s practice reports, but how could any doctor clear him to play after all the head trauma he’s been through? Teddy Bridgewater will start if Tagovailoa isn’t cleared to play.

Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans - Ankle

UPDATE: 12/29 @ 5:00 pm ET - The Titans have placed Ryan Tannehill on injured reserve, ending his 2022 campaign two weeks short of the postseason.

After initial reports of Ryan Tannehill missing the remainder of the 2022 season, things are seemingly different over the last few days as NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reported that Tannehill could be back for Week 18. He got surgery on his ankle and could potentially return for the final regular season game. Malik Willis is starting in Tannehill’s place but is not a fantasy asset in Week 18.

Mike White, New York Jets - Ribs

After missing the previous two games, Mike White has been cleared to return to action ahead of the Jets Week 17 game. White has already been announced as the team’s starter in a must-win game as Zach Wilson will return to the bench as White’s backup. White has looked good under center for the Jets but is nothing more than a QB2 for championship weekend.

Colt McCoy, Arizona Cardinals - Concussion

UPDATE: 12/30 @ 4:00 pm ET - Wait just a minute now. After head coach Kliff Kingsbury came out and said McCoy would be under center in Week 17, that is not the case as he's still feeling side effects to the concussion he suffered. David Blough is starting under center for the Cardinals.

UPDATE: 12/28 @ 2:30 pm ET - After missing Week 16, Colt McCoy is out of concussion protocol and head coach Kliff Kingsbury said he's going to be the starter for the remaining two games. He's nothing more than a low-end QB2 for those playing in two-quarterback or SuperFlex leagues.

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers - Knee

UPDATE: 12/29 @ 5:00 pm ET - Rodgers was back at practice on Thursday, which erases any notion he'd miss any real action with the Packers playoff hopes still alive.

UPDATE: 12/28 @ 2:30 pm ET - Rodgers picked up a knee injury this past weekend in the Miami game, but it's not something that's expected to limit him or keep him out of Week 17. That said, it kept him out of Wednesday's practice.

NFL Running Back Injury News

Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans - Hip

UPDATE: 12/29 @ 5:00 pm ET - Derrick Henry has been ruled out of the Titans Week 17 game against the Cowboys. The Titans have everything on the line in Week 18 when they face the Jaguars, so giving Henry an extra week to recover from his hip injury could benefit him.

UPDATE: 12/28 @ 8:30 pm ET - The Titans have listed Derrick Henry as doubtful to play. With nothing to play for in Week 17, the Titans need Henry at 100% in a division deciding contest against the Jaguars.

It’s always tough to get a read on what’s something we should worry about and what’s something we shouldn’t worry about when a player pops up on an estimated injury report. With Tennessee playing on Thursday, they listed Derrick Henry as a “DNP” on Monday’s estimated practice report. Henry has been getting limited reps and rest days all year throughout the week, so this could just be some gamesmanship. Also, something to consider, even if Tennessee loses in Week 17, they can still win the division by beating Jacksonville in Week 18. If Henry is dealing with an injury, they could rest him for the final game of the year.

Tony Pollard, Dallas Cowboys - Thigh

UPDATE: 12/29 @ 5:00 pm ET - Tony Pollard has been ruled out of the Cowboys Week 17 match-up against the Titans.

UPDATE: 12/28 @ 8:30 pm ET - Tony Pollard hasn't practiced this week but he's going to travel to Tennessee and warm up before the game to see if he can suit up. If he can't, all eyes will be on Ezekiel Elliott this week.

Much like Derrick Henry before him, Pollard popped up on the Cowboys estimated practice report as a “DNP” but there was nothing suggesting he was ever injured after completing the Cowboys Week 16 win against the Eagles. If the Cowboys win on Thursday, it puts pressure on the Eagles to win because a division title isn’t yet out of Dallas’ grasp. We’ll see if Pollard goes through Dallas’ walkthrough on Tuesday.

Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers - Ankle

UPDATE: 12/29 @ 5:00 pm ET - Jones, once again, got in some practice reps on Thursday as he continues to trend towards playing. It seems like getting him off his ankle as much as they could in Week 16 has paid off for his Week 17 status.

UPDATE: 12/28 @ 2:30 pm ET - Jones was at practice on Wednesday and that's a great sign because head coach Matt LaFleur wasn't sure if he would.

Not one person watching could understand why Aaron Jones saw just 25 snaps compared to AJ Dillon’s 38, and even third-stringer Patrick Taylor saw five. That was until Jones was asked about it and he said he tweaked his ankle, the same ankle he tweaked during practice leading up to the game. We should expect Jones to be available in the Packers Week 17 elimination game, but monitor practice reports this week.

Jamaal Williams, Detroit Lions - Leg

It wasn’t reported by many, but Jamaal Williams left the Lions Week 16 game and did not return. Justin Jackson served as the Lions backup running back and D’Andre Swift served as RB1. Williams played a season-low 24% of the snaps after a third straight disappointing fantasy performance. Monitor the Lions’ practice reports this week because Williams’ status is in question.

Damien Harris, New England Patriots - Thigh

UPDATE: 12/30 @ 4:00 pm ET - Harris missed Thursday's practice due to a personal matter but practiced in full on Friday and has been removed from the injury report. He could take on a big-time role if Rhamondre Stevenson, now listed questionable, misses this weeks game.

UPDATE: 12/28 @ 9:00 pm ET - We last saw Damien Harris take the field in Week 12 but he's inching towards a return as he took the field in a limited fashion on Wednesday. Considering he was nearly active in Week 16, he has a good chance to play in Week 17 barring any setbacks.

Harris is getting closer and closer to returning to action, but wasn’t able to return in Week 16 as he was ruled out with the same thigh injury that’s kept him out for a bit now. The Patriots were originally talking about Harris being active in Week 16 incase of an emergency, but that’s not how things played out. We could see Harris return in Week 17, but monitor the practice reports that will start rolling out on Wednesday.

Rhamondre Stevenson, New England Patriots - Ankle

UPDATE: 12/30 @ 4:00 pm ET - Stevenson has been an injury report visitor a lot this season but has played in every game to this point. He was limited in practice all week and has officially been listed as questionable for Week 17. If he can't go, Damian Harris is ready to shoulder a big load as he's been removed from the team's injury report.

Antonio Gibson, Washington Commanders - Foot

UPDATE: 12/30 @ 4:00 pm ET - Gibson has officially been ruled out of the Commanders Week 17 game after not practicing all week. Look for Brian Robinson to take on a big-time role for Washington while Curtis Samuel sees an uptick of touches out of the backfield too.

UPDATE: 12/29 @ 5:00 pm ET - For a second consecutive day, Antonio Gibson did not practice for the Commanders. He's dealt with foot injuries for two years now and this is terrible timing considering how good of a match-up it is for Washington and how Week 17 is a must-win game. If Gibson misses this game, Brian Robinson is going to shoulder a very heavy load.

UPDATE: 12/28 @ 2:30 pm ET - Head coach Ron Rivera was asked about Gibson on Tuesday and he said he was dealing with an undisclosed foot injury, which is why we saw Jonathan Williams last week. Gibson was not seen practicing on Wednesday, so things are definitely trending in the wrong direction for him.

James Conner, Arizona Cardinals - Illness

UPDATE: 12/30 @ 4:00 pm ET - Conner has been removed from the Cardinals injury report and ready to rock in Week 17.

UPDATE: 12/29 @ 5:00 pm ET - For the second consecutive day, Conner didn't practice due to an illness. He still has a few days to recover and nobody is sounding any alarms about Conner's status just yet.

UPDATE: 12/28 @ 9:00 pm ET - This is definitely something to monitor as the week progresses. Conner missed the Cardinals practice with an illness. The severity is unknown, but was severe enough to keep him sidelined here. If/when he does in fact return, any concern is thrown out the window.

Miles Sanders, Philadelphia Eagles - Knee

UPDATE: 12/29 @ 5:00 pm ET - It looks like Wednesday was just an off day for Sanders as he was back at practice on Thursday. This clears up the air on his knee injury as long as he doesn't regress after getting work in on his knee.

UPDATE: 12/28 @ 9:00 pm ET - This is a new injury as Sanders not only popped up on today's injury report, but he did not practice at all as he was listed as a DNP. Sanders had 21 carries in Week 16's loss to the Cowboys and that was the third time this year Sanders has had 20+ carries. This is something to monitor as we move on throughout the week.

Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints - Quadriceps

UPDATE: 12/29 @ 4:15 pm ET - We're a little unsure on what to believe here. Kamara is away from the team with a personal matter but he's also dealing with an injury to his quad. He has yet to practice this week, which isn't great. Friday's practice report is going to be critical for his Week 17 status, which is a must-win game if the Saints want a chance at sneaking into the playoffs.

NFL Wide Receiver Injury News

Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers - Ankle/Knee

UPDATE: 12/29 @ 5:00 pm ET - We were told there was a chance Samuel was going to get back on the practice field on Thursday and that he did. It's still an unknown whether he'll play or not, but this is obvious a step in the right direction. The 49ers are in an interesting spot because they don't need to rush him back, but there is still an outside shot at winning the NFC outright. We should see how his body responds before Friday's practice and make sure there are no setbacks.

UPDATE: 12/28 @ 8:30 pm ET - Although the 49ers star receiver didn't practice on Wednesday, head coach Kyle Shanahan suggested he could be back on Thursday. That would be a huge hurdle for Samuel as we last saw him in Week 14. The injury looked MUCH worse than it turned out to be and practicing Thursday puts him in a good position to play in Week 17.

When speaking with reporters on Monday, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Deebo Samuel’s ankle and knee are making great progress and he could be returning to practice at some point this week. We last saw Samuel play in Week 14 against the Bucs, so if he does return in Week 17, this would put him on schedule with what the initial reports speculated. Samuel’s return could come during fantasy football championship weekend. Potentially exciting stuff on the horizon.

Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks - Hand

UPDATE: 12/28 @ 3:30 pm ET - After having surgery on his hand one week ago, Lockett was back at practice and was not only there, he was catching passes and throwing the football around as well. All signs point to him being available to play for Seattle in their must-win Week 17 game against the Jets.

The Seahawks offense did not look in sync without Tyler Lockett on the field on Sunday, but that might be the only game he misses. Head coach Pete Carroll took to the podium before his team's game this week and said that Lockett may return from surgery after just one absence. We’ll see if that’s lip service, but monitor the Seahawks practice report on Wednesday when they first hit the field this week.

Christian Watson, Green Bay Packers - Hip

UPDATE: 12/29 @ 5:00 pm ET - The initial report on Thursday morning was that Watson was going to practice today but that ended up not being the case. He missed his second consecutive day with an injury to his hip that's serving to be more tricky than originally anticipated. He still has a chance to play this week if he gets on the field on Friday.

UPDATE: 12/28 @ 2:30 pm ET - After Watson was initially labeled as “day-to-day”, he won't practice on Wednesday. Watson's been oft-injured throughout his rookie campaign, so the Packers may elect to play it safe with him this week.

Reporters caught up with Christian Watson after the Packers Christmas Day game and he said his hip was “OK”. Head coach Matt LaFleur was asked about it on Monday and he said Watson avoided anything major. The Packers said Watson is day-to-day at this point, so we’ll see if he’s practicing when the team takes the field for the first time on Wednesday.

Nico Collins, Houston Texans - Foot

A couple days before the Texans took the field and upset the Titans in Week 16, they placed second-year receiver Nico Collins on injured reserve, ending his 2022 campaign. Collins appeared in 10 games this year, catching 37 passes for 481 yards.

Jamison Crowder, Buffalo Bills - Ankle

There’s been nothing concrete about Jamison Crowder’s return this year, but it seems like he’s inching his way back. He was working out on the side of practice leading up to the Bills’ Week 16 game and he looked sharp. Crowder is eligible to return from IR at any point as he last played back in Week 14.

Chris Olave, New Orleans Saints - Hamstring

UPDATE: 12/30 @ 3:00 pm ET - Olave has practiced all week but on a limited basis. The Saints have released their final injury report of the week and have listed Olave as questionable.

UPDATE: 12/28 @ 3:30 pm ET - The Saints hit the practice field on Wednesday and star rookie receiver Chris Olave was back. Olave has been the Saints number one option through the air this entire season and is just 60 yards away from a 1,000 yard season.

Jerry Jeudy, Denver Broncos - Ankle

UPDATE: 12/30 @ 4:00 pm ET - Jeudy left practice during the middle of the week and was able to return, but was limited because of an ankle injury. That same ankle injury kept him limited all week long and now the Broncos are listing him as questionable. Despite being listed questionable, Jeudy is expected to play through the injury.

NFL Tight End Injury News

Will Dissly, Seattle Seahawks - Knee

UPDATE: 12/28 @ 3:00 pm ET - Not only is Dissly not going to play in Week 17, he's out for the remainder of the year as the team has placed him on injured reserve. Surgery is not out of the question at this point.

The Seahawks have many playmakers banged up on the offensive side of the ball and Dissly is one of them. Per head coach Pete Carroll, he’s going to have his knee looked at as they’ve initially diagnosed him with a knee contusion. If he’s unable to go in Week 17, Noah Fant could see a big uptick in usage.

Hunter Henry, New England Patriots - Knee

UPDATE: 12/30 @ 4:00 pm ET - The Patriots have ruled Jonnu Smith out and Hunter Henry as questionable for the Pats Week 17 must-win game. Henry's practiced on a limited capacity since Wednesday. He's trending towards being available.

UPDATE: 12/29 @ 4:15 pm ET - Henry got back on the practice field for the second consecutive day. Things are trending in the right direction to see Henry in Week 17.

UPDATE: 12/28 @ 9:00 pm ET - After being listed as day-to-day after the initial injury, Henry was back on the practice field to start the week. Albeit in a limited capacity, he was still able to get on the field. Henry's trending in the right direction for Week 17.

Nothing like some friendly fire over the middle of the field, am I right? Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith ran into each other in the fourth quarter during the Patriots Week 16 loss and Henry left the game and did not return. The Patriots have since deemed him “day-to-day” and if Henry and Jonnu Smith both miss time, they would be greatly missed as they head into must-win game territory in the final two weeks of the year.

Jonnu Smith, New England Patriots - Concussion

UPDATE: 12/30 @ 4:00 pm ET - The Patriots have ruled Jonnu Smith out for Week 17 after not progressing through concussion protocol.

UPDATE: 12/29 @ 4:15 pm ET - It's not great for Jonnu Smith's progression as he's not advancing through concussion protocol considering he's yet to practice this week. Smith's status for Week 17 is definitely in question.

UPDATE: 12/28 @ 9:00 pm ET - Not the best start to the practice week for Jonnu Smith as he registered a DNP. That's not surprising considering he's in the concussion protocol, however. If he's upgraded to a limited participant in the upcoming days, he could test out of protocol by the weekend.

Jonnu Smith was evaluated for a head injury in the fourth quarter of the Patriots Week 16 loss. There’s been nothing concrete on his Week 17 status, but we’ll likely have to wait and see if he’s participating in Patriots practice come Wednesday.

Greg Dulcich, Denver Broncos - Hamstring

UPDATE: 12/30 @ 4:00 pm ET - After not practicing all week, Greg Dulcich has been ruled out of the Broncos Week 17 contest. Hamstring injuries are tricky and we might've seen the last from Dulcich in 2022.

UPDATE: 12/28 @ 3:45 pm ET - After suffering a hamstring injury this past week, Dulcich started his week of practice by not doing just that. He missed Wednesday's practice and that's not a great start to the week when you're dealing with a hamstring injury. Monitor his status throughout the week but with the team eliminated, they will not rush him back before he's ready.

Hayden Hurst, Cincinnati Bengals - Calf

UPDATE: 12/29 @ 4:15 pm ET - The Bengals tight end is poised to return in Week 17 as he said he was “100%”. We last saw Hurst in Week 13 and he was only able to play 13% of the snaps before injuring his calf. Just another weapon at Joe Burrow's disposal heading into the week. He's a TE2 this week.
