Week 7 gave us a shutout, several turnovers, a 3-sack performance, and multiple defensive touchdowns. It was a great week to participate in IDP fantasy football. With several bye weeks upcoming, selecting the most advantageous IDPs will reward fantasy football managers with victories. But first, a look back on week seven’s suggested players:

Weekly Grade: C. Week 7 was anything but lucky for the Fantasy Alarm IDP report. Bad weeks are going to happen in every fantasy football season. The best thing to do is act like a real football player. That is to say, process it quickly, remember the errors that led to the loss, and move on to the next play (week). It wasn’t a complete failure, as every player put up statistics. Yet a complete lack of big plays and overall low production led to the C grade. Unsatisfactory.

The Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Ramsand Seattle Seahawks are on bye this week. Get players from those teams out of your lineup

Fantasy Football IDP Risers Week 8

K’Lavon Chaisson, LB, New England Patriots

K’Lavon Chaisson is an outside linebacker with dual eligibility as a defensive lineman on some platforms. He is coming off a massive week against the Tennessee Titans, and plays another rookie quarterback, Dillon Gabriel, with the Cleveland Browns.

Chaisson played his least saps of the season last week, but it was his highest scoring week. Touchdowns will do that, but the odds of him scoring another touchdown are less than one percent of one. He also earned two sacks against a bad offensive line. Another great opportunity presents itself at home after a franchise setting three consecutive road wins. Add Chaisson to the watchlist.

Daron Payne, DL, Washington Commanders

Daron Payne is a defensive tackle for the Washington Commanders who has put up impressive numbers over the past two weeks. He has 10 combined tackles, 3 passes defended, 1 QB hit, 1 tackle for loss, and 1 safety. The Commanders have a late bye week, and Payne’s rise up the board is coming at the perfect time for fantasy football managers.

Payne is a waiver wire add for IDP managers who must start defensive tackles. In IDP leagues that require a broad defensive lineman category, he is still worth a look. The Commanders travel to Missouri to play the Kansas City Chiefs this week. The Chiefs run between the tackles often, and Payne should see another high volume of tackles. Mahomes has elite pocket awareness and has over 200 rushing yards this season. Payne’s pressure up the middle could be to his advantage. Put Payne on the watchlist.

Jadeveon Clowney, DL, Dallas Cowboys

Jadeveon Clowney is an eleven-year vet who currently plays with the Dallas Cowboys. The former first overall pick played his second-most snaps of the season and helped Dallas earn a division win. It appears the Cowboys have trust in his ability, and his knowledge of the playbook.

It was his second-most snaps this season (26), and Clowney earned his first sack. He also recorded his most tackles (5), 1 tackle for loss, 1 QB Hit, 1 fumble recovery, and 2 passes defended. His opportunities for big plays should keep arising. Keep a lookout for this week's 8 IDP riser.

Fantasy Football Week 8 IDP Waiver Wire Targets

Montez Sweat, Defensive Lineman, Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears are playing fantastic football on both sides of the ball. Montez Sweat made his presence felt last week. In fact, Sweat has two consecutive weeks of recording a sack, and plays against a bad offensive line in week 8. The Baltimore Ravens are the opponent, and they may or may not have Lamar Jackson.

Either way, they have not been able to protect their quarterback. Meanwhile, Sweat is displaying his ability to impact the game. He earned 4 solo tackles and multiple IDP statistics last week, against Baltimore; he should equal that amount. Tackles will come due to a strong running play script, and a sack due to that Lamar holds onto the football longer than most quarterbacks.

Barrett Carter, Linebacker, Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals have three linebackers who play predominantly in the box. Barrett Carter, Logan Wilson, and Demetrius Knight Jr.. Of those three, Carter is emerging as the best IDP for fantasy football. He has played the most snaps of the three and has rewarded the team with the most tackles.

Carter has earned 22 combined tackles over the past two weeks. He is a tackling machine, with zero statistics outside of that category. However, double-digit tackles in back-to-back weeks are telling of his success. Look for Carter to be the best linebacker once again. Pick him up in the waivers, against the run-heavy New York Jets this week, and beyond.

Evan Williams, Defensive Back, Green Bay Packers

Evan Williams has played excellently so far this season and is available in several fantasy football leagues. He logged 8 combined tackles, 1 pass defended, and 1 fumble recovery in the battle against the Arizona Cardinals. He has logged 25 tackles in his last three matches, and lines up in multiple positions for the Green Bay Packers defense.

Williams plays predominantly at free safety. 233 of his 440 snaps this season have been played there. However, he has 10 or more snaps in the box in the last four games. He also has 9 or more snaps per game in the slot. As versatile as it comes, and useful for the Packers. A great IDP to add to any fantasy football roster, as he is past his bye week.

NFL Week 8 IDP Matchups To Capitalize On

Jonathan Allen, DL, Minnesota Vikings

Our Thursday IDP highlight is on Jonathan Allen against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers played their sixth offensive tackle last week against the Indianapolis Colts. A third or fourth tackle can be called upon in any given season. The sixth on the depth chart is going deep into the roster, and almost always a player not competent to be a starter in the NFL.

Allen recorded 4 tackles, 1 QB hit, and 0.5 sacks last week and could increase all of those statistics on a short week. Minnesota may need to rely on their defense to be the difference in this match. Allen will take advantage of playing against the backups, backups. Put him in the lineup.

E.J. Speed, LB, Houston Texans

E.J. Speed has carved out a role in the Houston Texans' defense. It appears as if former Houston linebacker turned head coach, DeMeco Ryans, is impressed with the former Tarleton State graduate. It was almost as though he had to make it through an initiation to make an impact.

Speed’s snaps have increased every week, and so has his production. Most importantly, his special team snaps have gone down, while his box snaps have gone up immensely. Speed has logged 25 and 26 snaps over the past two weeks in the box. The spot where IDP production comes from, and what winning fantasy football managers seek out.

Christian McCaffrey is coming to “Screwston”, and so are his 31 touches. McCaffrey is the feature player for the San Francisco 49ers, and Speed will be matched up with him for most of the game. A season-high amount of tackles is a possibility for him, and a high floor is almost guaranteed. Put him in coach, the North Crowley kid is ready to play.

Marcus Jones, DB, New England Patriots

Marcus Jones has been monitored the past three weeks, and last week was one of the most added players on the waiver wire. The old fantasy football mentor says, ‘if you pick ‘em, you play ‘em’, and those who played Jones were rewarded. He earned 3 combined tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 pass defended, and 1 interception with 32 return yards.

It was the second game with an interception, and seventh pass defended this season. Jones plays most of his plays in the slot and has a combined 30 tackles due to it. 22 of which are solo tackles. He has four games with over 10 points in most IDP leagues, and should score that against the Browns this week. Put him in the lineup and expect another great game.
