We are back for the week-ending Fantasy Alarm NFL Injury Report heading into the weekend of Week 12 of the NFL season for 2020! There are quite a few statuses that have come into question, along with some that are important to note that have already been ruled upon. Let’s discuss!
Christian McCaffrey RB, CAR (Shoulder)
It was noted that CMC has had his status moved to questionable over the last day or so for the Panthers upcoming Week 12 match against the Vikings. Head Coach Matt Rhule said “I’m pessimistic that he will play” to reporters after the conclusion to Friday’s Panther practice session, still leaving no official ruling or report to be deemed. The good news here for CMC backers is that this game kicks-off as one of the early starts for Sunday, so this means we will have his availability before the slate kicks off! It’s a wait-and-see approach until then. I would have a back-up plan in place just in case. Update: McCaffrey has been ruled out
Davante Adams WR, GB (Ankle)
It seems that although Adams was not able to take the practice field on Thursday with the ankle ailment he gained after the Packers Week 11 game against the Colts, Head Coach Matt LeFleur is still heavily optimistic that Adams will be able to take the field for the Packers Week 12 showdown against the Bears in Lambeau. Adams was able to practice in limited participation on Wednesday before the DNP on Thursday, so this could obviously mean that Adams may have had some soreness after Wednesday and the Packers decided to be cautious with their star wide-out and allow him extra recovery time. He is listed as questionable at the moment, but the vibe is that he will play.
Alvin Kamara RB, NO (Foot)
The feet injuries continue to linger, and this is still true for Kamara, as well. Alvin was placed on the injury report earlier this week with a foot injury that has capped his practice reps, but again this is nothing knew for Kamara either. AK has had his practice reps capped over the last three to four weeks, and he was limited again in the Saints most recent practice on Wednesday. There are really no concerns out of Saints staff deeming that Kamara could be in any danger of missing the game, however he is listed as questionable, so this means we should just monitor the status to make sure he doesn’t have any setbacks before Sunday.
Josh Jacobs RB, LV (Hip)
Jacobs was added to the injury report for Week 12 on Thursday AFTER practicing in full on Wednesday for the Raiders most recent practice session in preparation for their upcoming showdown against the Falcons in Atlanta on Sunday. He was only able to practice in limited fashion on Thursday, which set off the injury report addition. This does cause a bit of concern seeing as how it was after a fully logged practice session, so does this mean he had a set-back? Or is this just the coaches and med staff being cautious with him? It seems it could just be precautionary, but it is worth keeping an eye on. The good news is that the Raiders are the early start on Sunday as well, so we will have this information before first kick.
A.J. Brown WR, TEN (Knee)
Brown continues to deal with the same knee that he has been hampered with most of the season now, and it claimed him as a “non-participant” in the Titans most recent practice for Thursday. Once again, lots of players are using these extra days off for healing and recovery from a crazy season, so this could literally be no different here for Brown. Monitoring the Titans practice reports for today’s week-ending practice session should give us a bit more of an idea of where Brown is currently on the week. Another early kick time here for the Titans as they travel into Indy to take on the Colts Sunday, so we should know this status before kick if we don’t already after Friday’s practice session.
Chris Carson RB, SEA (Foot)
The foot injury that has now kept Carson out since Week 7 of the season could finally be healed enough for him to re-take the playing field when the Seahawks travel to the City of Brotherly Love to take on the Eagles on Monday Night Football. Carson was listed as a limited participant in the Hawks Thursday practice after practicing somewhat in full on Tuesday earlier this week in preparation for Week 12. The good news is that Carson has until Monday night to prove he is ready to go, as we have already seen some good signs this week. However, this is also a bit worrisome for backers who have to wait until Monday to see if he is a full-go or not. It really depends on your match up this week, and how much risk you can afford in terms of risk/reward on Carson this week. The outlook does seem that he has a good, or better than not, chance of suiting up.
Kalen Ballage RB, LAC (Ankle/Calf)
The Friday practice report for the Chargers should be an interesting one. With Austin Ekeler set to hopefully make a return, but not official yet, and now Ballage dealing with a couple ailments that have kept him limited in Chargers practice most of the week in prep for their Week 12 tilt in Buffalo, could make for an interesting situation if somehow both are not able/ready to go on Sunday. This is another wait-and-see approach here, as we will need to be on the lookout for the practice reports later today heading into the weekend to see who was able to practice and to what extent. Good news is this is also an early start Sunday game, so we will have this news before kick on Sunday, as well.
Giovani Bernard RB, CIN (Concussion)
Gio was able to re-take the practice field for the Bengals on Friday, which is a breath of fresh air for them after he turned up on the injury report earlier in the week with concussion-like symptoms. It seems that this was not the case, and Gio was able to make his return to practice in preparation for the Bengals upcoming hosting of the Giants on Sunday. It has yet to be made official of his practice participation for Friday’s practice session, however with him at least on the field this does bode well for his availability. Worth keeping an eye on the Bengals practice reports for Friday’s session.
Todd Gurley RB, ATL (Knee)
We thought we may get through one whole season without a reminder of Gurley’s knees. This is not the case, and it comes at a bad time as Gurley was not able to practice for the Falcons on Friday. This was also not the first practice missed this week for Gurley, but the third in a row to be correct and this obviously does not look great for his availability in the Falcons upcoming Week 12 game against the Raiders at home. It is absolutely important to watch the Falcons injury reports after Friday’s session and during this weekend to see if Gurley does happen to get in some kind of limited practice before Sunday, especially if you are a Gurley fantasy backer.
Deebo Samuel WR, SF (Hamstring)
It appears that Samuel will be able to make a return to the playing field after missing all games after Week 7 of the season with a hamstring injury. Samuel has put in two capped/limited practices so far this week in preparation for the Niners upcoming travel to LA to take on the Rams on Sunday afternoon, and the vibes out of Niners practice is a good one for his return. He has yet to be officially cleared for a return, but hopefully with a close to full practice over the next couple of days could and should solidify his return to the playing field.
Mark Andrews TE, BAL (Thigh)
Andrews is dealing with a thigh injury still that has limited him for the Ravens practice session, and luckily for Andrews the Ravens had a number of players and coaches turn up with the Covid-19 virus that pushed back their original playing date of Thanksgiving to Sunday now. This obviously bodes well for extra recovery time for Andrews, but he will also be without his Quarterback in Lamar Jackson , who was one of the players who tested positive for the virus before Thursday. It seems that this should give Andrews enough time to get healed up from the thigh issue, but it is worth monitoring the practice reports heading into Sunday. Update: The game has now been moved to Tuesday.
Jerry Jeudy WR, DEN (Foot)
Jeudy is dealing with an ankle/achillies ailment that held him out of the Broncos Thursday practice session and could also place him in danger heading into the weekend in prep for their Week 12 game against the Saints. Jeudy will have another shot to improve his status after the practice reports come out later today for the Broncos Friday practice, so hopefully this will bring forth good news pertaining to his availability. Worth keeping an eye on as we move closer to Sunday.
Philip Rivers QB, IND (Toe)
Another status that we will need to look for after Friday’s practice session reports come out is on Rivers. Rivers is obviously dealing with a toe injury that has now seen him sit out of Wednesday’s practice and also had him listed as a non-participant in their Thursday practice estimate, as well. The plan is for Rivers to re-take the practice field on Friday to secure his availability for the Colts upcoming home hosting of the Titans, but we need to make sure he did indeed take the practice field after the reports come out. Should be no issue, just something to watch out for.
Tua Tagovailoa QB, MIA (Thumb)
It may be a start for Fitzmagic this week if Tua is unable to take the playing field for the ‘Phins on Sunday against the Jets. Tua popped up on the injury report earlier this week after dealing with a thumb injury that has plagued his practice sessions leading into the weekend. Head Coach Brian Flores told reporters that he wants to re-watch Tua’s practice film to see if there are any noticeable ailments to his throwing with the thumb injury before declaring if he will able to be a full-go for Sunday. Good thing is this is another early Sunday kick, so we will have this news before first kick on Sunday, as well.
Nick Foles QB, CHI (Hip)
Foles sustained a hip injury in the Bears Week 10 match up against the Vikings and now has not been able to take the practice field in preparation for their Week 12 game against the Packers on Sunday night. It seems that back-up Mitchell Trubisky has been able to log back-to-back full practices so far this week, and in that event could be looking at making a start on Sunday night if Foles isn’t able to make any progress. We will need to monitor the Bears practice reports heading into Sunday to see if Foles is able to take the practice field any at all this week.
