It’s an exciting time to be a New York Giants fan. You’ve got young stars on the roster on offense like Jaxson Dart, Malik Nabers, and Cam Skattebo. And you just landed arguably the number one available head coach prospect in John Harbaugh. The Giants are one of the league's most prestigious franchise and it’s great for the NFL when they are competitive.

That said, there’s still a lot of work to be done. John Harbaugh and new offensive coordinator Matt Nagy will need to work with incumbent GM Joe Schoen to build things the right way. As always with new regimes, we can expect a lot of turnover. So it’s our job today to look at the depth chart, the contracts, and the narratives to make some free agency predictions. And, where applicable, we’ll weigh in with some fantasy football thoughts!

New York Giants Free Agency 2026

  • PROJECTED 2026 SALARIES: $298M
  • ESTIMATED 2026 CAP SPACE: $7M

Free Agent Types

Unrestricted free agent: Any player with four or more accrued seasons whose contract has expired. They are free to negotiate with any team.

Restricted free agent: A player with three accrued seasons and an expired contract. The CBA allowed for NFL teams to tender these players to one-year qualifying offers to retain them. Another team can sign them, but would need to provide the tendering team with compensation. In layman’s terms, if a new team signs a player, the current team can match it, or they receive the corresponding pick from the new team. These are the projected RFA tender levels per OverTheCap.com:

  • 1st Round - $7,893,000
  • 2nd Round - $5,658,000
  • Right of First Refusal - $3,453,000

Exclusive rights free agent: Any player with fewer than three accrued seasons and an expired contract. If his original team offers him a one-year contract at the league minimum, the player cannot negotiate with other teams. If the team wants the player back, these contracts are a no-brainer, as the player either needs to play on the contract or sit out.

Giants Quarterback Depth Chart

Jaxson Dart

The Giants have seemingly found their guy. He obviously needs to continue to grow as a passer. But he has a lot of the qualities you like in a quarterback. He can play a “clean game” in terms of running the offense without major penalties or miscommunications (which is the demise of most young QBs). And he has shown that he can be a leader both on and off the field.

For fantasy football, his willingness to run is basically all that matters. Virtually every QB that stays healthy and runs 5 times a game (85 carries) finishes top 10. He just ran 86 times in 12 starts. This article has more on where we rank Jaxson dart but, as it’s labeled Top 10 Dynasty QBs, I think you get the idea.

Jameis Winston

Winston is under contract for another year here. And I think they’d be happy to keep him around as he’s on a fairly affordable deal. But there are two avenues where he might be off the roster. One would be if another team were interested in trading for his services. The other would be Matt Nagy wanting to bring in a “player-coach” type guy to help develop Dart - especially if that player knows Nagy’s system.

Russell Wilson

The Russell Wilson experiment did not work out, so he’ll hit the road as a free agent in 2026. I doubt Wilson will want to sign on anywhere that he would strictly be a backup with no chance to compete, so it’s not crazy to see him potentially go unsigned. But he was pretty decent with the Steelers and didn’t really get a great shot with New York, so maybe someone will bite.

  • Reserves/Futures: N/A

GIANTS QB FREE AGENCY TAKE: The Giants don’t really need to do anything at quarterback if they don’t want to - they have Jaxson Dart to start and Jameis Winston to back up. The only case to be made is that maybe Matt Nagy wants to bring in someone who knows his scheme. Not sure what kind of terms he’s still on with Mitchell Trubisky, but Carson Wentz could fit the bill. Again, it’s not necessary to bring anyone in.

Giants Running Back Depth Chart

Cam Skattebo

The fourth-round rookie basically spent one game as the third-string back before forcing a split in Week 2. In Week 3, Tyrone Tracy suffered a dislocated shoulder, and Skattebo hit the ground running from there. Unfortunately, he suffered a very serious ankle injury that ended his season in Week 8.

We initially weren’t super high on Skattebo, as there was concern that the pass-catching ability of Tyrone Tracy would cap Skattebo’s upside. But he proved pretty quickly to be a reliable target as well. His relationship with Jaxson Dart and the suggestion that he should be back for offseason work has us holding for now and possibly buying if you can get him without paying more than a first.

Tyrone Tracy

We still like the skillset for Tracy and how it translates to PPR. But, after what we saw from Skattebo, he probably needs a change of scenery to have upside in fantasy. I’m willing to hold, but he’s under contract for two more years, so in shallow leagues, you might not be able to.

Devin Singletary

Singletary was a Daboll guy and, even then, he couldn’t carve out much of a role even while Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy were hurt. He can be released with only $1.25M in dead cap with $5.25M in savings, and I’d be shocked if that’s not how things played out with Daboll gone. He returned some kicks, but both Deonte Banks and Gunner Olszewski were better at it.

Eric Gray

Despite all the injuries, Eric Gray hardly appeared on offense. If they keep him around, it will be for special teams, but he can be released with next to no dead cap.

Dante Miller

Dante Miller was actually released and bounced around the rpacrice sauad before being elevated along the way. He’s on a veteran minimum deal with zero guaranteed money, so he’ll need to make this roster this offseason.

  • Reserves/Futures: N/A

GIANTS RB FREE AGENCY TAKE: The Giants have two guys at the top that are solid, so they really just need to figure out the plan for depth. I don’t think Matt Nagy would be interested in spending what it takes for former player Isiah Pacheco to join the crew, plus that would be annoying for fantasy. So we’re looking at deeper guys, possibly ones that also return kicks. Maybe they just keep some of the guys they already have.

Giants Wide Receiver Depth Chart

Malik Nabers

Malik Nabers is a superstar, so there’s not much worry about his role moving forward. Nabers already played alongside a target hog in Wan’Dale Robinson, who just had back-to-back years of exactly 140 targets, so we know that doesn’t affect Nabers much. You can never have too many of these guys in dynasty

Wan'Dale Robinson

The 2024 Wan'Dale Robinson season was the second least efficient season for a wide receiver on 140 targets that I’ve seen since 2006 Chris Chambers under Nick Saban in Miami. But he bounced back nicely in 2025, proving that he was more than just a low aDot slot merchant. Robinson could be a hot commodity, and anyone signing him will likely be doing so to use him as an every-down player. So this is a guy we are buying in dynasty, as he should be fine whether he’s back or not.

Darius Slayton

Darius Slayton is your classic “sacrificial X”. He can play split end out wide and battle the jam, which lets guys like Malik Nabers and Wan’Dale Robinson do their thing. Every once in a while, he gets a deep look, but that’s hard to trust from week to week. Of his $16M cap hit, $15.75M is guaranteed for 2026, so he’s not going anywhere this offseason. That doesn’t mean they can’t find guys to play over him, but he will be on the team barring a miracle.

Isaiah Hodgins

Isaiah Hodgins was basically just a familiar face the Giants signed mid-season to help out based on injuries. With the old regime gone, I don’t expect them to sign him. He’s an unrestricted free agent.

Jalin Hyatt

Despite the high draft capital, Jalin Hyatt has had a difficult time even carving out a role, let alone flashing when he gets a chance. He can finally be released with minimal dead cap, which will likely be on the table for the former Biletnikoff Award winner.

Beaux Collins

Collins impressed in camp and even got some looks during the season, but took a bad hit that resulted in both a concussion and neck injury. They opened his 21-day window, but he never cleared, so he remained on IR. With a new regime with very little guaranteed money, he’ll need to make the team from scratch. His special teams play could help

Bryce Ford-Wheaton

Bryce Ford-Wheaton played a ton of special teams in 2024, but, unfortunately, tore his Achilles tendon in July of last year. As an unrestricted free agent, that could make it tough for him to be back - but we’re rooting for him.

Gunner Olszewski

Most of us are familiar with the special teams specialist by now. He was on a one-year deal and will try to latch on somewhere.

Dalen Cambre

Another camp standout who found himself elevated but never played more than 7 snaps in any game. He also doesn’t play special teams, so he’s a cut candidate.

Da'Quan Felton

Felton was an undrafted rookie who missed the entire season with an injury designation. Not a lock to make the team.

Ryan Miller

The Giants claimed Ryan Miller off the wire when Tampa Bay released him, but he never appeared. He’s an unrestricted free agent.

  • Reserves/Futures: N/A

GIANTS WR FREE AGENCY TAKE: There are a LOT of names here. But most of them aren’t particularly meaningful, especially for fantasy football. You basically have Darius Slayton as the split end and Malik Nabers as a guy who is capable of playing both flanker and slot. So they need to decide what to do here.

They could bring back Wan’Dale Robinson as their slot/flanker. If not, they could sign a pure slot guy with Slayton and Nabers on the outside. Or they could use Nabers like Rashee Rice out of the slot and sign a field stretcher to operate on the outside. We like that idea best, and guys like Tyquan Thornton and Marquise Brown had experience with Matt Nagy and the Chiefs just last year. Though Rashid Shaheed is probably the crown jewel of that role for available free agents.

Giants Tight End Depth Chart

Theo Johnson

Theo Johnson had his ups and downs this year. One thing that never sits right with fans is drops, so he’ll certainly have his detractors. But he has the rare combination of size and speed that allows him to operate as a two-way tight end inline while still contributing in the pass game. What the Giants do at wide receiver will be crucial to the upside of Johnson, as it’s obviously difficult to produce at a high level with two wide receivers getting 140+ targets. If you are a Johnson fan, you want Wan’Dale Robinson to walk. For me, I’m not opposed to selling Johnson if people out there think Matt Nagy will turn him into the next Travis Kelce - I’m just not sure that’s his game. Check the Giant’s Free Agency Tight End Take section below to see what the worst case scario would be. Though the most likely scenario is that Johnson is the starting TE in 2026.

Daniel Bellinger

Bellinger is an inline blocking tight end who is an unrestricted free agent now. If Matt Nagy is looking for a Noah Gray type, maybe he brings Bellinger back. He also plays a lot of special teams, which goes a long way with coaches. He doesn’t have much fantasy upside if he stays - or really even if he leaves, to be quite honest.

Chris Manhertz

Manhertz is a pure blocking tight end who also plays on multiple special teams units. Again, it’s never a surprise when these guys catch on somewhere, as coaches love them.

Thomas Fidone

Fidone was a rookie this year, but never really made a big impact on offense. He did appear on three different special teams units. With the new regime, a lot of guys are going to have to earn their roster spots in camp against guys they bring in. He has very little guaranteed money tied to him.

GIANTS TE FREE AGENCY TAKE: The most likely scenario is that Theo Johnson is back as the starting tight end. But, as we saw with Cole Kmet and the Bears, even guys the team has invested in can have their roles changed under the new regime. With Daniel Bellinger and Chris Manhertz as free agents, there’s a chance Johnson ends up more of an inline tight end.

If that were the case, I’d expect the Giants to bring in someone who can play “big slot” like Travis Kelce often did for Nagy (though I don’t think he’d be able to convince Kelce himself to leave KC). I also don’t know if guys like Darren Waller or Evan Engram (via trade) would be interested in coming back to the Giants. The big name is Kyle Pitts, but Isaiah Likely is also a free agent and has experience with new head coach John Harbaugh.

They’ll need some depth at blocking tight end as well if Bellinger and Manhertz do walk. Charlie Kolar is also out there, who played for Harbaugh. I’ll include some options there as well.
