Top Value DFS Week 1 DraftKings Picks

Jacoby Brissett, QB Arizona Cardinals ($5,100)

Last season, we watched Brissett play some serious huck-it, chuck-it football as the Cardinals fell behind their opponents regularly. He averaged just over 40 pass attempts per game over 12 games, posted 300 passing yards or more four times and had at least two touchdowns in 10 of those games. The Chargers’ defense is rock-solid, but we can expect the Cardinals to play catch-up in this one, for sure.

Jalen Nailor, WR Las Vegas Raiders ($4,300)

With no Brock Bowers, Nailor could turn into a PPR dream this week with little or no legitimate options available. He and Kirk Cousins have a solid rapport that dates back to when they played together in Minnesota and he could see a target-share that competes for the team lead. Miami’s slot-coverage doesn’t look intimidating at all, so maybe we could even see Nailor YAC (yards after the catch) it up for a score. 

DeVaughn Vele, WR New Orleans Saints ($3,500)

With no Jordyn Tyson, Vele should step into the WR2 role for the Saints and that could put him in a fantastic spot for some legitimate targets. We’re expecting some back-and-forth between the Saints and the Lions and with Detroit being down both their starting safeties (Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph are both on the PUP list), the middle of the field could open up nicely for some throws.

Ja’Kobi Lane, WR Baltimore Ravens ($3,100)

The Ravens really haven’t settled in on who will be on the field opposite Zay Flowers when they go into their two-receiver sets. We could see Rashod Bateman or Devontez Walker, but after the preseason we saw from Lane, he should definitely be in the mix. At worst, he’s locked onto the field in three-receiver sets and that should offer some solid touchdown upside. Just be careful when you click the player. Jaylin Lane from the Houston Texans is also just $3,100 and they’re both abbreviated to J. Lane on the site. Be careful which name you click because they are VERY different guys.

 

 

Top Value DFS Week 1 Picks for FanDuel

Jordan Mason, RB Minnesota Vikings ($5,400)

While MarShawn Lloyd provides the largest salary relief among starting running backs, I don’t mind looking at Mason who is the primary runner for the Vikings. He’s not a big pass-catcher which is why he’s only listed for FanDuel, but if you find yourself wanting to fade Lloyd, Mason could prove to be a solid pivot.

Dontayvion Wicks, WR Philadelphia Eagles ($5,500)

I wish he was a little lower-priced, but $5,500 falls right into my “bargain range” on FanDuel. I don’t expect a boatload of targets to go his way, but Wicks is likely to be the receiver opposite Smith in two-receiver sets and he provides some really nice big-play ability.

Devaughn Vele, WR New Orleans Saints ($5,000)

Ja’Kobi Lane, WR Baltimore Ravens ($4,900)

I’d just write “ditto” here, but for the sake of this being a full-service NFL DFS Week 1 Dart Board with nothing but the best in top value DFS picks, I'll say he's going to catch a long touchdown this week and you should definitely bet the over on his Longest Reception prop as well.

Darren Waller, TE Carolina Panthers ($4,400)

And this is so Coop doesn’t get uppity with me on Sunday's Fantasy Alarm Show at 10am ET on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio. He tried to sell me on Waller during our last Alarm Fantasy Football Show and, truthfully, I’m not really biting, but if Waller actually does make it onto the field, it would be for red zone/end zone work.
