Week 13 of the NFL season is here which means it's time to take a look at the DraftKings NFL and FanDuel NFL main slates to figure out which players we should be looking to build our lineups around for our NFL DFS Tournament contests. Week 13 brings back the bye weeks which means smaller player pools and some of the top tier teams not available to us and therefore making this slate not a great one especially for GPP's when it comes to being contrarian with your lineup builds. If you want to take down the big NFL DFS contests you need to find those high upside contrarian players to put into your lineup that will help you differentiate yourself from the rest of the field and while you don't need to go completely contrarian with your lineup builds it is generally a good idea to find one or two players to put into your lineup each week that may go again the majority of the field in hopes that it will give you a leg up on the competition.

Top FanDuel & DraftKings NFL DFS Week 13 Contrarian Plays

Sam Howell, QB Washington Commanders

So we are doing this again huh? Listen, time and time again I tell you all that being a good DFS QB has nothing to do with being a good real life QB. Case in point, Sam Howell and the Washington Commanders. Now, to be fair, I don't think Howell is actually all that bad but the Commanders are not very good and Howell gets sacked a ton. What we love here is the volume. Volume is king in DFS as it presents opportunity to score points and Howell throws the football more than anyone in the NFL, averaging over 40 pass attempts per game. In turn, Howell is consistently giving us 20+ fantasy point efforts. We now have a matchup where the Commanders are big home underdogs in a game with the highest total on the board.

Derrick Henry, RB Tennessee Titans

Lock me into Derrick Henry here this week against a Colts defense that really struggles to stop the run as was on display last week when Rachaad White ran for over 100 yards. Henry is coming off a two touchdown game against the Panthers last week and if nobody is playing him I love him for the multi-touchdown upside this week as well.

Mike Evans, WR Tampa Bay Buccaneers

If it seems like every single week you see Mike Evans in this articles its because he is. Nobody is playing the man who is on pace for another 1,000 yard season with 10+ touchdowns and I have no idea why. This week the Buccaneers are at home, as favorites, against a Panthers team that just fired their head coach. I don't need Baker Mayfield to be a world beater for Mike Evans to put up WR1 numbers this week in this matchup.

Pat Freiermuth, TE Pittsburgh Steelers

With the majority of the field now playing a min-price TE in Brevin Jordan we see a TE who just had over 100-yards receiving in an offense under new leadership against one of the worst defenses in football getting absolutely no love. The Steelers fired offensive coordinator Matt Canada leading into last week's matchup against the Bengals and Freiermuth ended up catching nine passes for 120 yards. If we believe change is happening with this Pittsburgh offense wouldn't it make sense for Freiermuth to be back in the fold here in Week 13?
