What’s going on everyone? Happy Tuesday. Welcome to the dojo. In this dojo, we participate in cheap plays only. Some call them value options. As always, we must monitor the news as players are still being placed in health and safety protocols left and right and that is opening up value in essentially every slate.
All Sites
Chris Boucher, TOR
*ADDED* The Raptors just ruled out both Gary Trent Jr. and Scottie Barnes and with just Trent out the other day, we saw Boucher get 28 minutes off the bench. He’s put up 25+ FP and has topped 20 minutes in back-to-back games and that should easily be attainable again tonight. Whether or not he starts, and I don’t expect him to since they started Khem Birch last game, he’s an extremely high ceiling tournament option.
Monte Morris, DEN
With Will Barton out, Morris sticks out like a sore thumb as the possible “Robin” to Nikola Jokic’s “Batman”. With Barton, Michael Porter Jr. and P.J. Dozier off the floor this year, Morris gets the biggest usage bump on the team at 3.4% and averages 1.00 FP/min to boot. The Clippers defense has not been great of late allowing 116+ points in three of their last five games.
Jae Crowder, PHX
There’s no denying Crowder looked bad in his first game out of the health and safety protocols, but he played 27 minutes and now there’s no Cameron Johnson as he’s out. Crowder shot 1-of-6 from the field and still had 18.75 DKP, which is solid all things considered. The 223 over/under in this game really pulls you in and Crowder could easily top 30 minutes here. Very solid final piece that, at his industry prices, will be popular.
DraftKings
Trey Lyles, DET ($4,900)
We’ve been really talking Lyles up lately on the podcast and in our playbook and it’s all been for good reason. Lyles, despite coming off the bench, has played 28 and 29 minutes in each of the last two games and has topped 31+ DKP in each game. He’s playing more minutes than starter Isaiah Stewart and is also playing alongside him, so he’s maximizing his upside. He’s been playing in blowouts and he’s been playing in competitive games as well.
FanDuel
Josh Jackson, DET ($4,000)
It’s not my favorite spot in the world, but Jackson has found himself back in the Pistons rotation recently. He’s played 18+ minutes in four of his last five games and twice he’s played at least 24, including Monday’s game. That momentum, being a part of the Pistons comeback, could propel him back into another 20+ minute role here. Not to mention, both Cory Joseph and Frank Jackson aren’t expected to play tonight. Jackson will be on the floor in a blowout scenario and is in the regular rotation as well. He has *flashed* 30+ FP upside.
Yahoo! Fantasy
Kevon Looney, GSW ($12)
I’ve talked about this a couple of times lately, but we love Looney without Draymond Green on the floor. With Green out the other day, Looney was a vacuum grabbing 18 rebounds to go alone with six points, three assists, four steals and a block. In three of the last four games Green has missed time, Looney has put up 26+ Y! pts and the fourth was 21.5. He averages .93 FP/min without Green on the floor and Looney is just $2 from minimum salary on Yahoo! tonight.
