*Please note that players not listed below are not necessarily a complete fade and any player listed can certainly be used as the MVP/Captain. These are merely suggestions for players to use when setting Showdown lineups.
MVP/CPT
Stephen Curry, PG (GSW) – Friday’s game against Houston was a lot closer than it should have been as the Warriors won by just two and part of that can be attributed to Curry’s lackluster shooting from the field. While Curry did finish with 22 points, it came on just six of 21 shooting but he did hand out 12 assists so there were no issues from a DFS perspective. I would expect to see similar volume from Curry once again tonight, but it is worth noting that Klay Thompson did have the night off for rest.
Bojan Bogdanovic, SG/SF (UTA) – If we are looking for the biggest beneficiary of Mitchell’s absence, this is a pretty good place to start as Bogdanovic has taken 80 shots over his last five games. After shooting seven of 15 from the field on Friday while making six of seven free throws, good for 23 points, I don’t think there’s anything to worry about with his finger. Bogdanovic has broken the 20-point mark in three of his last four games, and I would expect him to add to that tonight.
Rudy Gobert, C (UTA) – We do have to keep an eye on Gobert's status as after playing through an ankle injury on Friday, he is listed as questionable tonight. Hassan Whiteside has missed the last five games, and he too is questionable tonight for conditioning purposes, so it’s possible Utah could be very thin in the front court, but I would expect Gobert to play unless the ankle is really an issue. With season averages of 16 points and 15 rebounds, it’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that we get a double-double here at minimum as long as Gobert is in the lineup. If he is out and Whiteside does return, I would resist the urge to simply do a swap in this slot as there is risk if he will be on a minute restriction.
Util
Mike Conley, PG (UTA) - While Conley’s offensive chops aren’t always on display, we have been seeing it a little more frequently these days with Mitchell sidelined. Conley has taken 12 shots from the field in each of his last three games while averaging just under 19 points per game. Regardless of that, Conley generally doesn’t stray much from the 30-fantasy point mark, but this is time to ride with him if the offensive production and volume is going to continue.
Klay Thompson, SG (GSW) – Thompson should be nice and fresh after having a rest day on Friday, and while his minutes are still limited (23), we don’t have to worry about volume. In his last game on Thursday, Thompson took 17 shots from the field, but we are still waiting for him to truly find his stroke as he is shooting just 37.2% from the field. Even still, we are getting 14.7 points per game from Thompson and the only place for that to go is up.
Jordan Clarkson, PG/SG (UTA) – We know that Clarkson has no problems scoring in bunches, and with Mitchell out, there are even more shots up for grabs. The game script will likely play into Clarkson’s favor as well because despite the fact that he is shooting 40.2% from the field this season, the volume will be there.
Kevon Looney, C (GSW) – Don’t look now, but Looney has turned into a rebounding machine with Green out. We can’t count on much offensively from the center, but he did score 21 points in his last two games, so there is some nice upside here. The fact that Looney is getting increased minutes also helps here.
Otto Porter Jr, SF/PF (GSW) – Porter has carved out a solid role in the starting lineup as he fills the stat sheet. In his last give games, Porter is averaging 9.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, three assists, and 1.6 steals per game so there are plenty of different paths towards DFS points.
Dart Throws
Joe Ingles, SG/SF (UTA) – Ingles has moved into the starting lineup, and he has taken at least six three-pointers in each of his last three games. What creates the variability through, is the fact that Ingles has only made six of those shots.
Rudy Gay, SF/PF (UTA) – Depending on Gobert’s status, Gay really could be busy tonight, but regardless we at looking something close to 20 minutes of run. While the shot volume does fluctuate, Gay has a track record of coming through offensively on the boards for around 20 DK points with the possibility of upside.
Jonathan Kuminga, PF (GSW) – The rookie is an exciting player to watch but sometimes his performance leaves fantasy managers frustrated. Kuminga has moved back to the bench, but if everything breaks right for him, it could be a profitable day.
