Can the Oklahoma City Thunder win their 13th game in a row? Are the Golden State Warriors – without Stephen Curry – the team to end the winning streak? How will things go tonight? I’m breaking it down from an NBA DFS perspective as the Thunder enter this game as 12-point favorites. Can Golden State keep it close enough in order to prioritize a lot of the regulars in this game? Let’s dive in.

DFS Captain / MVP Picks

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, OKC

(DK CPT - $17,700, UTIL - $11,800 / FD CPT - $24,300, UTIL - $16,200)

It’s been weird to see Shai Gilgeous-Alexander play in three consecutive fourth quarters. That hadn’t happened for a while. Nobody on the Thunder has the upside SGA has. In nearly 100 minutes without Isaiah Hartenstein, Luguentz Dort, and Alex Caruso, SGA has averaged 35.7% USG and 1.6 FP/min.

Jalen Williams, OKC

(DK CPT - $12,900, UTIL - $8,600 / FD CPT - $19,200, UTIL - $12,800)

It took Jalen Williams two games to basically get up to a full complement of minutes. He played 34 minutes in his second game and has not played well up to this point. He was 7-for-18 from the floor last time out, and he’s the fourth-highest priced player in this game. Using him as captain gives you a ceiling if tonight’s the night the shot falls and helps you get both SGA and Jimmy Butler (or Chet Holmgren).

Jimmy Butler, GSW

(DK CPT - $15,600, UTIL - $10,400 / FD CPT - $21,000, UTIL - $14,000)

Stephen Curry is out, and Jimmy Butler is the Warriors' greatest hope at keeping them in the game. Without Curry and Al Horford this year, Butler has a 25.7% USG and averages 1.2 FP/min. Butler has triple-double upside, which is the appeal to putting him in the captain’s chair.

Chet Holmgren, OKC

(DK CPT - $13,800, UTIL - $9,200 / FD CPT - $17,100, UTIL - $11,400)

I have absolutely no issue turning to Chet Holmgren as a captain today. He’s been well over 1 FP/min this year without Hartenstein, Dort, and Caruso while posting a 23.5% USG. Holmgren’s in a matchup against the Warriors, who rank 25th in rebounding rate this year.

DFS Utility Picks

Brandin Podziemski, GSW

(DK CPT - $11,700, UTIL - $7,800 / FD CPT - $13,500, UTIL - $9,000)

With Stephen Curry out of the last game, Brandin Podziemski started and played 33 minutes. He played well, too, and should handle a similar role once again. Podziemski has a 20.1% USG and .92 FP/min without Curry.

Ajay Mitchell, OKC

(DK CPT - $10,200, UTIL - $6,800 / FD CPT - $10,500, UTIL - $7,000)

In the first game sans Isaiah Hartenstein, the Thunder turned to Ajay Mitchell in the closing lineup. Mitchell was fantastic in that game despite playing with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, and Jalen Williams. It was the lowest usage rate he’s had in some time, so that’s something to keep in mind.

Gary Payton, GSW

(DK CPT - $7,200, UTIL - $4,800 / FD CPT - $3,600, UTIL - $2,400)

The 25 minutes Gary Payton played last time out were a season-high as Stephen Curry and Al Horford missed, which is the same situation again today. Payton had 19 points and 11 rebounds, and especially on FanDuel, he’s FREE.
