NBA Injury Report Week 12

Nic Claxton, Center, Brooklyn Nets: Personal

Claxton missed the Nets' previous game and is out today. He could be out longer; it is a situation to keep an eye on, as it is not an injury that is preventing him from playing.

Josh Giddey, Guard, Chicago Bulls: Hamstring

Giddey went down with a nasty injury against the Minnesota Timberwolves. It looked bad, but he could be back as soon as three weeks. Realistically, it could be next month.

Coby White, Guard, Chicago Bulls: Calf

Giddey wasn’t the only one who was injured against the Timberwolves. White strained his calf after just seven minutes. He isn’t expected back until January 11th, at the earliest. Look for 2 weeks realistically.

Zach Collins, Center, Chicago Bulls: Toe

Collins was injured this past week as well. He left with a toe sprain, but could be back as soon as next week.

Jalen Smith, Forward, Chicago Bulls: Concussion

Smith was on a roll, but entered the concussion protocol in the Bulls' most recent game. Chicago went from the healthiest their roster has been all season to almost rock bottom. Smith must pass the protocol to get back into action.

Nikola Jokic, Center, Denver Nuggets: Knee

Jokic was accidentally stepped on by teammate Spencer Jones and hyperextended his knee. He is expected to miss the entire month of January, but don’t be surprised if he comes back quicker than expected.

Jonas Valanciunas, Center, Denver Nuggets: Calf

Valanciunas is the backup center for the Nuggets, and he is expected to be out for all of January as well. He strained his calf starting for Jokic in what was a two-punch combo to Denver’s centers.

Jalen Duren, Center, Detroit Pistons: Ankle

Duren tweaked his ankle against the Miami Heat and is expected to miss at least a week. He’s having a career year, so do not drop him; put him on the IR.

Caris LeVert, Guard, Detroit Pistons: Knee

LeVert injured his knee in the match against the Los Angeles Clippers. It has kept him out of a few games and will keep him out of a few more.

Bennedict Mathurin, Guard, Indiana Pacers: Thumb

Mathurin injured his hand against the San Antonio Spurs, and he’s expected to miss a couple of games. Monitor this situation for the tanking Pacers.

Rui Hachimura, Forward, Los Angeles Lakers: Calf

Hachimura has missed the last two Lakers games and is expected to miss a couple more. The Lakers desperately need him, but they won’t rush him back.

Saddiq Bey, Forward, New Orleans Pelicans: Hip

Bey missed the Pelicans' most recent match and is expected to miss at least one more with a hip injury. He could become waiver wire gold if he were dropped.

Jalen Suggs, Guard, Orlando Magic: Knee

Suggs recently returned from injury, but will be out for the Magic’s next game. Monitor the situation for more details.

Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Week 12

Da’Ron Holmes, Center, Denver Nuggets: Rostered in 25% of Sleeper Leagues

Fantasy basketball managers who drafted Nikola Jokic are panicking, even more so the ones in dynasty leagues who had Valanciunas as a handcuff. Not to fear. Da’Ron Holmes is still available in 75% of leagues, and as long as he stays out of foul trouble, he can put up good offensive numbers. Pick him up off the waiver wire for week 12.

Day’Ron Sharpe, Center, Brooklyn Nets: Rostered in 19% of Sleeper Leagues

Day’ron Sharpe is playing for Nic Claxton, and he is filling in nicely. He played 29 minutes, scored 14 points, earned 9 rebounds, logged 2 blocks, and had 2 steals in their most recent game. That is an impressive stat line, and his next four games are against teams without their starting center. With so many centers going down, Sharpe is a must-add.

Brice Sensabaugh, Forward, Utah Jazz: Rostered in 6% of Sleeper Leagues

Sensabaugh is available in almost every league, and he is a massive bargain at the moment. He has played 27 or more minutes in the last five Utah Jazz games. That has led to several field goal attempts, particularly from a forward. A sneaky good value that could become a regular starter in daily fantasy basketball leagues. Pick him up off the waiver wire and trust his scoring.

Micah Potter, Forward/Center, Indiana Pacers: Rostered in 2% of Sleeper Leagues

For those in need of a deep dive, take a look at Micah Potter of the Indiana Pacers. He’s owned in just 2% of sleeper leagues, and those must be dynasty or massive roster leagues. He’s played in just five games this season, but has supplanted Jay Huff and Isaiah Jackson for the starting role.

Potter is a great three-point scorer for leagues that get a bonus due to threes made. His dual eligibility gives him even more value. Pick him up to add fantasy frontcourt depth, as he could be the waiver wire gem of this season.
