What are the Best Underdog MLB Pick'em Picks Today?

Today’s two best Underdog Fantasy MLB Pick'em plays are Kevin McGonigle over 1.5 hits+runs+RBI and Colin Rea over 2.5 earned runs allowed. Both props are supported by matchup data, current streaks, and favorable line construction heading into an action-packed day of baseball. Read below for the complete analysis on each.

Kevin McGonigle OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI

Wait. The red-hot McGonigle takes on a righty today who has struggled with lefties in 2026? Really? Where do I sign? Check, please!

During his six-game hit streak, the Detroit rookie is hitting .391 with six runs scored and five RBI. For the year against RHP, McGonigle has posted a .303 average and .861 OPS, and a further look into his stats sets him up well against L.A.’s Grayson Rodriguez.

Rodriguez has an ERA north of 10 through a couple of starts, and he’s surrendered a .429 average and .528 wOBA to left-handed hitters. Advantage McGonigle. When facing lefties, Rodriguez uses his four-seamer or changeup nearly 80% of the time, and while the changeup has been solid, his four-seamer has been demolished (.455 BAA, .640 wOBA).

Like I mentioned earlier, McGonigle profiles well against Rodriguez, seeing as he’s been very productive against four-seamers and changeups from RHP. McGonigle is sporting a .318 average and .523 SLG against right-handed four-seamers, and a .368 average and .395 wOBA against right-handed changeups.

Winds will be nearly blowing out to the right (a little bit more across the field, but somewhat out to the right), which helps McGonigle more. I like this Detroit offense to get to Rodriguez, and McGonigle should be a key part of that in the top-third of the order.

Colin Rea OVER 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed

Since Rea became a regular in the Chicago rotation in mid-to-end April, he’s posted a 5.40 ERA, 4.84 FIP, and 1.47 HR/9 across seven starts (36.2 IP). While he’s sporting a sub-3 ERA at home on the year, his ERA is pushing seven (6.75) on the road, and his problems with left-handed hitters are problematic in this matchup. For the year, lefties have a .310 AVG, .426 SLG, and a .354 wOBA against Rea, not to mention a walk rate that is nearly three percentage points higher than righties (8.4% vs. 5.5%).

Over the last two weeks, Pittsburgh has had a top-six batting average in baseball, but for the entire year against RHP, they have been one of the better offenses in baseball. The Pirates have the sixth-best batting average, eighth-best slugging percentage, and fourth-best wOBA against RHP. Furthermore, they have the second-best wOBA in the MLB in their home park (.350), and no team has a higher batting average (.276) than the Pirates when playing at PNC Park!

Rea’s struggles on the road and Pittsburgh’s prowess against RHP – and at home – is not a recipe for success for Rea today, so let’s put our trust in the Pittsburgh offense on Thursday with the wind blowing out at PNC Park.
