Published: Aug 19, 2025
Welcome to the Fantasy Alarm MLB DFS Playbook for Tuesday, August 19th!Â
Happy Tuesday! We have another big slate coming up this evening with a 10-game main slate starting at 7:10 PM ET on both DraftKings and FanDuel. Unfortunately, no Tarik Skubal on today’s slate because he is pitching in one of the earlier games, but still plenty of great pitchers available, and our expert analysis is here to guide you through the top pitchers, value plays, and stackable offenses to target.
Whether chasing big GPP prizes or grinding cash games, we’ve got you covered with insights tailored to today’s matchups. Let’s jump right into the key plays and strategies to dominate the slate!
Â
This season's MLB DFS picks and playbook will consist of a pitcher and hitter core players section with written analysis, player pool grid and core stacks section.
The core player section should be used as a starting point for all lineups, you may not be able to use all players in the same lineup, but those players should be the building blocks for you on a given night.
The player pool grid will feature both players from the core player section along with additional plays to help you build a complete lineup. The grid will be broken into top priced players, mid-priced players and value tier players.
The stacks section will bring you are favorite lineups stacks for the day and which players we would look to include in those stacks based on matchups and pricing.
Tune into the MLB DFS Livestream at 5 PM ET to watch us break down today’s slate, give you last-minute advice, and answer any questions before locking in those lineups!

MLB Weather: Tuesday, 8/19
- Chicago White Sox vs. Atlanta Braves
- New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays
Keep an eye on both of these games. I think both will play, but some rain could cause some delays or even a postponement, so watch closely as we approach game time.Â

Recommended MLB DFS Starting Pitchers
Let's get into today's core pitching plays for our DFS lineups
Core MLB DFS Pitchers
Joe Ryan, Minnesota Twins
This is really nothing against Brandon Woodruff or Carlos Rodon at the top of today’s slate; I think they are both solid options, and I can see reasons to go for either of them, but I would rather take Joe Ryan going up against the Athletics today. Joe Ryan is having a fantastic season. His last outing was 7 strikeouts in 6.2 innings, giving up only 1 earned run, and I expect more of the same type of outing from him today.Â
Hunter Greene, Cincinnati Reds
Hunter Greene is back on the mound, and it is awesome. His first outing back was 6 scoreless innings, only giving up 3 hits and 0 walks while striking out 6. We could see even more from him today, going up against the Angels. He could easily have the highest strikeout total of the day, and I trust him here, even in just his second game back from the IL.Â
Jacob Lopez, Athletics
What a run Jacob Lopez is having. 24 straight scoreless innings with 28 strikeouts and a 0.83 WHIP. He has gone at least 7 innings with at least 9 strikeouts in each of his last two outings. He gets to face a Twins team that was just emptied at the trade deadline. They still have some solid bat,s and this run by Jacob Lopez has to slow down at some point, but I am willing to take the chance on this magical stretch continuing today.Â

Recommended MLB DFS Hitters
Let's check out today's core plays to build our lineups around.
Core MLB DFS Hitters
Matt Olson, 1B Atlanta Braves
The Atlanta Braves' season might be pretty much over (as far as postseason chances go), but Matt Olson is far from done. He is coming off a 3-hit game, and over his last 12 games, he has 6 multi-hit games and has an OPS of over 1.000. I like him today in this matchup against Shane Smith and the White Sox.Â
Alex Bregman, 3B Boston Red Sox
Since his return from the IL back in July, Alex Bregman is slashing .316/.391/.531 with 5 homers. He has been fantastic all season, and most of his power has come against righties. Sugano has been fine this season, but he certainly isn’t an arm to run away from and gives up a lot of contact and homers, and I like paying up for Bregman and stacking him with some other Boston bats today.Â
Corey Seager, Texas Rangers
This price is just too low for Corey Seager. I know he hasn’t been quite Corey Seager level ridiculousness for most of this season, but this is still just too good a price to pass up. Not the easiest matchup against Seth Lugo, but still one I think that Seager can win, and I just think the talent is too great to pass up when you can get him for this cheap.Â
Roman Anthony, OF Boston Red Sox
The price his climbed some on Roman Anthony, but not enough to get me off from him right now. He is just providing so much value at the top of this Boston lineup, and if you like the Red Sox against Sugano today (like I clearly do with having Bregman as well), then you should probably have Roman Anthony in your lineup alongside Alex Bregman, even if those are the only two Boston players you go for.Â
