We are into the final week of the fantasy baseball season and while we are ticking down the days, you are that close to a championship! Unfortunately, MLB injury news doesn't stop even with just five days left in the year. At this point, though, players are either on the way back or pretty much done for the year. Fantasy Baseball MLB Injury Report September 29

Julio Rodríguez, Seattle Mariners

The Seattle Mariners' young stud hit in some batting cages on Thursday, and the idea is that Rodriguez is on track to return to the lineup when first eligible from the Injured List on Monday. Rodriguez has been out since September 23rd with a back problem, but all signs point to the positive. With just three days left in the season, when he is activated you have to be ready to make that move in your lineups in time for the games on Monday.

Avisaíl García, Miami Marlins

The Marlins brought their disappointing outfielder back from the Injured List with a hamstring injury and it paid immediate dividends. Garcia hit a grand slam in his first game back, propelling Miami against his old team. Garcia had hit just .230 coming into Thursday with just seven home runs in 93 games. He definitely has the talent to go on a hot streak for a week, and the Marlins opponents should have no reason to pitch around him, so if he is out there get him in your lineups for the season’s final week.

Brendan Rodgers, Colorado Rockies

Rodgers returned after missing 11 games with a hamstring strain and had no hits in his two at-bats on Thursday. You would think that the Rockies will have one of their better players finish out the year in the lineup every day. While Rodgers is far from an elite player, he could string together a few good contests in a row and should be in your starting lineup at this point of the season.

Charlie Blackmon, Colorado Rockies

A follow-up to the Rockies situation, Blackmon is going to miss the rest of the year with a torn meniscus in his knee. He was placed on the 10-day Injured List and with less than a week to go, he isn’t going to return. Blackmon actually had a slightly better season than I expected, but the best days are clearly behind the aging Rockies outfielder.

Corey Seager, Texas Rangers

Seager was hit in the forearm with a pitch on Tuesday and has yet to be back in the starting lineup for the Rangers. The good news is that it is not fractured, but the Rangers are LONG out of playoff consideration and have no reason to rush their stud back. I wouldn’t be surprised if he played a few games before the end of the year but if Texas held him out the rest of the way, that wouldn’t shock me either.

Justin Turner, Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers third baseman has missed a few games with a shin injury that was aggravated after fouling a ball off of it last week. He hasn’t played since the September 27, but he should return at some time this weekend after Dave Roberts said he would miss only a few days. However, the Dodgers have nothing to play for and they have plenty of offense without Turner – so they have no motivation to rush him back. Keep him planted on your bench until you see him back at third for Los Angeles.

Zach Plesac, Cleveland Guardians

Plesac stupidly fractured his hand after allowing a home run back on his start on September 2nd. He's set to return from the Injured List on Saturday for his final start before the playoffs. The Guardians starter pitched well in his last rehab start, so you can expect him to go deep enough into the game to qualify for a win. Plesac isn’t an elite option at all but he's starting against the Royals, so he could give you one last strong start before the end of the season.

Yoán Moncada, Chicago White Sox

Moncada fouled a ball off of his foot in Tuesday’s game and has been unable to return to the lineup just yet. The X-rays did come back negative, but there are only so many days left in the season. The expectation is that he is going to play again before the end of the season, but the White Sox are eliminated from the playoffs already. Plus, Moncada has had an awful time staying healthy all season long so why would they bring him back? Watch the team’s lineups from day to day, but any game you get out of him would be a bonus.

Trevor Story, Boston Red Sox

Story had been dealing with a heel injury and was expected to return before the end of the season. However, he is also dealing with an illness and the Red Sox are terrible and the team has announced that his season is now done. He only played 94 games and, honestly, he didn’t have that great of a year. I am very interested to see where he is drafted in 2023 fantasy baseball leagues.

DJ LeMahieu, New York Yankees

With the Yankees cruising to the end of the year and a division title in tow, LeMahieu is set to return from the Injured List on Friday. He hasn’t played since September 4th due to a toe injury, but he will now have a week to get himself back into game shape as the Yankees head into the playoffs. It was a horrendously disappointing season as LeMahieu barely hit above .260 with his usual amount of power. Still, if you need some help at middle infield down the stretch, he could be a nice source of batting average with maybe a home run or two at the most.

Tyler Glasnow, Tampa Bay Rays

Glasnow's first start in a year-and-a-half really couldn’t have gone better. The Rays pitcher threw three innings, allowing just one run and two hits while striking out three. After missing that much time, it is crazy to think that Glasnow is going to pitch long enough into a game to get a chance at a win. However, if you are really down to the wire and the ERA/WHIP or strikeout battle is incredibly close, Glasnow could provide you the difference his last time out even if he only pitches three or four innings. In those extreme circumstances, he is worth an add at the end of the season.
