Pitchers Most Vulnerable to Stolen Bases Today

When hunting for successful MLB stolen base picks today, targeting the right pitcher is half the battle. The following list is made up of the day’s starting pitchers who have allowed the most stolen bases this season.

Catchers Allowing the Most Stolen Bases

The final piece of the puzzle for finding the best stolen base predictions involves looking behind the dish at catcher pop times and throwing accuracy. How many times teams attempt to steal a base on a particular catcher is a strong indicator of who we expect to see doing the most running today. The following backstops have the lowest Caught Stealing% with a minimum of 10 SB attempts against them.

Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:

Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. Here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Sunday, June 21:

Favorite Bets:

Pete Crow-Armstrong, Chicago Cubs (+304)

This guy just doesn’t slow down. Right now, PCA is on a 10-game hit streak with six multi-hit performances and four stolen bases in that span. He’s got a .388 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season and is facing Dylan Cease who has allowed 11 stolen bases on the season, most of any pitcher on the slate. But where we really like this play is found in Alejandro Kirk, the Blue Jays backstop who is recently off the IL and sitting with an 11-percent caught-stealing rate on 19 attempts. Kirk allowed four stolen bases just two games ago and is not ready to handle the Cubs’ speed.

Corbin Carroll, Arizona Diamondbacks (+321)

We’re back to attacking Twins catcher Victor Caratini who is sitting on a dismal 10-percent caught-stealing rate over 31 attempts. Minnesota right-hander Mike Paredes is on the bump today, at least for the beginning of the game, but he’s not fully stretched out so who knows how long he actually goes. Carroll has a .347 wOBA against righties and looks even better against southpaws, so I’m not worried about the handedness of any relievers either.

Brice Turang, Milwaukee Brewers (+382)

We’ve been watching Bryce Elder slowly deteriorate from reliable starter to too many home runs and not enough strikeouts as the first half is coming to a close soon. Granted, the recent issues have been on the road, but a tired arm is a tired arm. Turang is posting a massive .415 wOBA against right-handed pitching and he’s got both the success rate on the bases (85.7%) and the sprint speed we want. We’re also looking at back-up catcher Joey Bart in the lineup for the Braves today. Bart is just 3-for-19 (19%) in throwing out baserunners, so look for Turang and the Brewers to attack early.
