MLB Best Bets for August 24
Texas Rangers at Minnesota Twins
They may be in 1st place in the AL Central but you can NOT convince me that the Twins are a good baseball team. That makes me already want to bet on the Rangers and the fact they are plus money underdogs doesn't hurt either. They have a projected run total according to the model of 4.29 and the Twins have a projected run total of 4.3, that is razor thin and creates value for the Rangers considering its a toss up on the stats. Pablo Lopez will keep the Twins in the game with his 3.51 ERA but the Rangers offense is no joke and the Minnesota offense struggles to score consistently. Give me Texas to win on the road today but let's also add a player prop! Andrew Heaney has had a rough go of late but his strikeout prop is just 4.5 and the Twins swing and miss more than any team in the MLB, 10.3 times per game to be exact. Heaney can get beat up and still top this number so I am all in on this prop today.
Pick: Texas Rangers Money Line (+105 on DraftKings)
Pick: Andrew Heaney Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-160 on BetMGM)
Chicago Cubs at Pittsburgh Pirates
Its no secret in the Fantasy Alarm family that I am a Pirates fan but if you watch them as much as I do you'll know they have struggled hard this summer. That's not something the Cubs can relate to as they've been one of the hottest teams in baseball since early July. The offense has really carried the load too scoring 5.05 runs per game, the 5th highest average in the MLB. That makes their team total runs of 5 for tonight seem very fair and they are also projected 4.96 runs according to the model today and that's with the Pirates yet to name the starting pitcher for tonight. Give me the Cubs to stay hot tonight in Pittsburgh and keep up the big run totals!
Pick: Chicago Cubs Team Total Over 5 Runs (-125 on PointsBet)
**all bets are one unit unless specifically mentioned.
