Welcome back to the best stolen base picks for today. Quite an interesting day regarding yesterday’s picks because neither player we invested in stole a base, but we were clearly on the right path as one enjoyed a three-hit day in a strong hitting environment while the other went yard and also had himself a strong day. I knew they’d be on-base; it was just a matter of who had the opportunity to steal. Not much you can do but get back in the lab and figure out who it’s going to be today. With the help of our new stolen base prop finder, it’s time to dive into the research and deliver the best in MLB stolen base picks today.

Pitchers Most Vulnerable to Stolen Bases Today

When hunting for successful MLB stolen base picks today, targeting the right pitcher is half the battle. The following list is made up of the day’s starting pitchers who have allowed the most stolen bases this season.

Catchers Allowing the Most Stolen Bases

The final piece of the puzzle for finding the best stolen base predictions involves looking behind the dish at catcher pop times and throwing accuracy. How many times teams attempt to steal a base on a particular catcher is a strong indicator of who we expect to see doing the most running today. The following backstops have the lowest Caught Stealing% with a minimum of 10 SB attempts against them.

Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:

Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. Here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Wednesday, June 17:

Favorite Bets:

Nasim Nunez, Washington Nationals (+258)

Over just 32 innings this season, Royals righty Luinder Avila has allowed three stolen bases. That pace puts him right in the middle of the pack among today’s starters. Nunez has five hits and one stolen base over his last three games and has 18 of his 26 steals this season against righthanded pitching. Carter Jensen has been about average among catchers in caught-stealing percentage but I expect the nationals to test him early and often. Both teams are going to be scratching and clawing for runs today, so we’ll lean into the Nats on the bases.

Longshot:

Brandon Marsh, Philadelphia Phillies (+551)

While Vegas is leaning a little further into Trea Turner and even Bryson Stott (so I wouldn’t begrudge a sprinkle on either), I’m going to lean into the guy who’s been a hot hitter this entire season, is posting a .391 wOBA against righties and routinely puts the ball in-play (.397 BABIP). It also helps that while a .250 average against Marlins righty Sandy Alcantara is nothing to write home about, he’s got 24 at-bats against him and is all too familiar. Alcantara has allowed the second-most stolen bases among pitchers on today’s slate and while Joe Mack has a solid caught-stealing percentage, I think the Phillies get aggressive early today and take advantage of some potential sluggishness by the Marlins this morning.
