Welcome back to the best stolen base picks for today. The MLB All-Star break offers us a nice reprieve from the daily grind that is MLB betting. If you do it every day, that is. Catchers Allowing the Most Stolen Bases
The final piece of the puzzle for finding the best stolen base predictions involves looking behind the dish at catcher pop times and throwing accuracy. How many times teams attempt to steal a base on a particular catcher is a strong indicator of who we expect to see doing the most running today. The following backstops have the lowest Caught Stealing% with a minimum of 10 SB attempts against them.
- Mickey Gasper, Boston Red Sox – 0% CS (12 att.)
- Ivan Herrera, St. Louis Cardinals – 0% CS (20 att.)

Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:
Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. Here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Friday, July 17:
Favorite Bet:
Brewer Hicklen, Atlanta Braves (+231)
Who doesn’t love a 30-year-old minor league call-up? Hicklen had been hitting Triple-A pitching well and was brought up after a five-game hit streak that saw him hitting safely in 11 of his last 12. He enjoyed a two-hit night in his first big-league action and then spent the All-Star break as a big-leaguer. With Mike Yastrzemski and Ronald Acuna still on the IL, Hicklen should get the start in right. He’s got good on-base skills and he had four stolen bases over his last 16 minor-league games. Texas righty Cal Quantrill has allowed seven stolen bases on the season and the Texas catchers have a combined 20-percent caught-stealing rate. Hicklen is looking to start the second half hot and get a chance to beat out Eli White for the eventual fourth outfielder job. He should get off on the right foot.
Longshot:
Ceddanne Rafaela, Boston Red Sox – GAME 1 (+408)
With fewer strong options on the board, we can take a shot here on a bit of a longshot with Rafaela facing Griffin Jax in the first game of the double-header. The catching tandem of Nick Fortes (who I am expecting to see behind the plate in the early game) and Hunter Feduccia have just a 22.4-percent caught-stealing rate and Jax has allowed the third-most stolen bases on the slate. Rafaela posts a .321 OBP against right-handed pitching and 11 of his 12 stolen bases have come off of righties. Easily worth a shot.
