It’s easy to lose Francisco Lindor in the shuffle with José Ramírez in the midst of a breakout, Corey Kluber on the mound and the lingering distractions caused by the bullpen. However, Lindor recorded his fifth straight multiple hit game including a double and three RBI. He’s driven in seven runs the last three games, homered in the two previous contests and moved Greg Allen to third in an unselfish at-bat which led to the Indians walk-off win.

As for his campaign as a Most Valuable Player, Lindor leads the majors in runs (99), multiple hit games (47), doubles (38) and extra-base hits (68). He’s on pace to score 141 runs with 41 home runs, 105 RBI and 24 stolen bases. Lindor’s slashing .298/.376/.572 with 29 home runs, 17 steals and 74 RBI. Pretty darn impressive.

That Just Happened

Corey Kluber could not replicate his complete game shutout, but did last seven innings allowing seven hits, four earned runs and striking out seven. His one mistake, a three-run home run to tie the game. Kluber only generated 10 swinging strikes and 22 called strikes of his 117 pitches.

Accounting for Kluber’s mistake? Jorge Polanco ’s three run home run, his first homer in 138 at-bats put the Twins into a tie before their eventual loss. Polanco’s hit safely in 14 of his last 16 games for a .302 average (19-for-63) in them.

A less than ideal day for José Berrios owners. He made his second shortest appearance of the season only lasting four innings giving up four hits, four earned runs and six walks with five strikeouts. Berrios only pitched three innings on April 29th against the Reds.

Both Ronald Acuna and Nick Markakis each homered in the Braves loss on Wednesday afternoon. Acuna launched his 13th and has hit .300 over 70 at-bats in the leadoff spot with 14 runs and six home runs over 18 games hitting first. Markakis hit his career high 14th home run as a Brave, notched his 46th multi-hit game and has hit 10 of his 14 home runs on the road.

Anthony Rendón went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Since June 15th, Rendon’s scored 31 runs with 14 doubles, 10 home runs and 35 RBI.

Another messy outing for Corey Knebel . He did not record an out yielding a hit and three walks all resulting in four earned runs and his third loss. Knebel’s allowed runs in two of his last three appearances, three of the past six and in four of his last eight. His ERA has risen from 3.62 to 4.79 as a result. Adding fuel to the fire of his hot seat as closer, Knebel’s walked five his last three outings leading to five earned runs. He’s struggled to a 6.99 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in 10.1 innings in the second half. A committee approach could ensue.

To make matters worse, Joakim Soria left with the team’s trainer during the ninth inning replacing Knebel on the mound. His status remains unknown as of this writing, but he could need time on the disabled list. Something this beleaguered bullpen can afford.

Hunter Renfroe ’s red hot right now. He doubled and hit a grand slam to lead the Padres to a comeback win in Miller Park. Renfroe’s homered in four straight games along with recording multiple hits in them as well. He’s also on a seven game hit streak during which Renfroe’s 11-for-29 (.379) with two doubles, four home runs and 12 RBI.

Teammate Franmil Reyes has joined the power surge. Reyes hit his ninth home run and third in his last four games. He’s nine for his last 15 with two doubles, the three homers and five RBI.

Night Moves

Perhaps some good news for the Astros? Carlos Correa joined the team in Houston and could be activated prior to Friday’s game. Bad news? Lance McCullers reports his forearm injury occurred while batting in Los Angeles, not pitching.

Boston will transition Drew Pomeranz to the bullpen after his outing in Toronto. He’s worked as a reliever in the past but this puts a dent in his fantasy value the rest of the season.

Bryce Harper was scratched from this afternoon’s game due to a swollen knee and shin. All reports suggest he will be back on Friday.

Braves starter Anibal Sánchez left after two innings after taking a comebacker off the leg. Sanchez left the stadium with his calf wrapped in ice, but he plans on making his next start.

It seems as though Seattle’s vacillating on how to handle Félix Hernández going forward. There’s no confirmation he will make his next start but his owners would be better off leaving him on the bench until he shows signs of improvement.

What To Watch For

The Yankees get J.A. Happ back on the mound to face the Ranger who struggle versus left-handed pitching. Giancarlo Stanton ’s homered in back-to-back games with three home runs and nine RBI his last seven. On the other hand, Greg Bird ’s one for his last 21 the last six games.

A potential pitching duel on tap with James Paxton matching up with Justin Verlander in Houston.

Los Angeles heads to Coors with Ross Stripling back from the disabled list. Less than ideal, leave him on the bench if possible.

Could the Pirates coming to town spark Andrew McCutchen ? Stay tuned.
