League of Legends Championship Series

February 27th, 2022

(+340) Team Solomid v Team Liquid (-525)
(-350) Evil Geniuses v Counter Logic Gaming (+245)

(+161) FlyQuest v Cloud9 (-220)

(-104) Immortals v Golden Guardians (-125)

(+162) Dignitas v 100 Thieves (-220)

A few teams went on to prove me wrong yesterday and really showed out (or flopped). First we saw Cloud9 work over the 100 Thieves squad and move into a shared first place position with Team Liquid. Cloud9 doesn’t seem too shaken by their recent coaching changes while 100 Thieves continue to have weaknesses exposed. FlyQuest (the number one team in the LCS going into Saturday) dropped all the way to third with a pair of losses in ugly fashion. Most matchups on the slate today are pretty one sided on paper but we have seen in the past, there is always a chance to steal wins in a best of one series. Let’s dive in!

Fantasy Value Breakdown

Captain

Favorite: Bjergsen (TL: $11,700) The blip of Friday was quickly forgotten by this squad as they quickly dispatched Dignitas. Bjergsen went deathless into Blue as he played Ryze and roamed the entire map. He participated in a third of the team kills and had 324 CS. He faces TSM and Keaiduo on Sunday, and that has to be one of the easiest opponents in the league. I expect a very fast game by TL and Bjerg to be at the forefront of TL players dropping big numbers.

Value Pick: PowerOfEvil (IMT: $10,200)

Top

Favorite: Impact (EG: $6,600) With some of the patches of struggles that EG has had this split, many have forgotten how good Impact is in lane. Yesterday, Impact dropped 6 kills, 2 deaths, and 11 assists in their two games played. He played heavy carry champions in Akali and Graves which pushes against the narrative that he can only play tank champions. The point ceiling is very high for Impact and EG on Sunday so hop on these fair prices for your lineup.

Value Pick: Ssumday (100: $6,200)

Jungle

Favorite: Santorin (TL: $7,400) Santorin has really come out on fire in the 2022 season. I love seeing this after the struggles he had (both medically and in game performances) in 2021. He has 24 kills (tied first among LCS junglers) and 58 assists (second among LCS junglers) through TL’s first 8 games. TL’s strength comes from how well they communicate wave management and how Santorin plays to his lanes at the right time. He ganks at intelligent times and his team responds to his rotations to objectives. Love TL in this matchup.

Value Pick: Pridestalker (GG: $6,600)

Mid

Favorite: Fudge (C9: $7,600) The growth curve for Fudge in the middle lane has been impressive. At the beginning of the 2022 season, Fudge looked like he was really uncomfortable in his new role. Now he has hit more of his stride and we see him with 27 kills and 50 assists in his 8 games in 2022. Both respectable numbers and his biggest benefit is we have not seen him try to do too much. He is controlled and looks to make an impact throughout the map by following up on Blaber’s rotations. Keep it simple and don’t do too much, smart pick up here.

Value Pick: jojopyun (EG: $7,400)

ADC

Favorite: Hans sama (TL: $7,600) We have seen Hans sama be more targeted in recent matches. Teams are throwing a ton of resources at trying to kill him or get him out of fights early. Why? Hans sama makes a difference. He has a carry mentality and knows how to safely output DPS throughout a fight. TSM does not have the team coordination that other teams have so I think it will be easier for Hans to safely carry teamfights without too much worry about getting jumped on.

Value Pick: Neo (DIG: $6,400)

Support

Favorite: Vulcan (EG: $6,200) This former C9 support is making a huge impact for EG. He and Danny are the most consistent carry threats for the team. He can play aggressive in lane without leaving Danny exposed which is a huge plus. HE can rotate well with Inspired to set up for objectives and start teamfights too. CLG just finds creative ways to lose late game team fights and Vulcan will be at the core of EG taking advantage of this.

Value Pick: Destiny (IMT: $5,200)

Team

Favorite: Team Liquid ($5,600) First place is taking on last place in the league. I do think the league has gotten closer in skill and the middle of the pack teams can take games off the top of the table teams, TSM is at a completely other level right now. They brought in Chinese imports who are clearly not acclimating to playing in NA. You have a former MVP in Spica and former Rookie of the year in Tactical who both seem to be struggling to find common ground with their other teammates. TSM have regularly lost early game and had games slip away from them early which sets up nicely for this more polished team in TL to put them away easily.

Value Pick: Cloud9 ($5,000)
