CBB DFS Guard Player Spotlight

Tyler Kolek - Marquette @ Georgetown ($9.3K DK)

On the road against Villanova on Tuesday night Kolek responded with one of the most complete games of the season, scoring a career-high 32 points, adding 9 assists, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. All of the things that Kolek does well, he displayed in his career outing. Kolek was driving to the basket to score and create shots for Oso Ighodaro and others, creating shots around the perimeter and during a season where his 3-point shooting % is down, Kolek hit 5 of 8 from deep. With a 39.4% assist rate (8th in the nation) and 25.6% usage rate Kolek will be running the offense of the highest implied scoring team of the slate as Marquette faces one of the worst defensive teams in the nation, Georgetown (292nd) in a pace up game. This is a no-brainer, open up your wallets for Tyler Kolek today.

Ace Baldwin - Penn State @ Indiana ($8.5K DK)

Ace Baldwin is a really good. The VCU transfer and last year’s A-10 Defensive Player of the Year is an all-around great player with a complete game. He is stuffing the stat sheet, averaging 13.2 points per game, a team-best 5.1 assists per contest (27.5%) and a Big Ten-best 2.86 steals per game. Baldwin’s 2.86 steals (4.7%) rank sixth in the nation and he is coming off a 15-point, 10-assist, 5-rebound, 5-steal performance Wednesday night in Penn State’s road win at Rutgers becoming the first Big Ten player since at least the 2010-11 season (13 years) to notch a 15/10/5/5 game. This is a high price tag on Baldwin but guards own Indiana and if Kanye Clary is out this is the type of play that can win a GPP.

Other Top CBB DFS Guards (Point Per Dollar)

  • Boo Buie, Northwestern ($8.9K DK/8.2K FD) - Buie is one of the top players in the Big-10 and is averaging 35+ DK over his last five games with a 29.2% usage rate. ALL
  • Sean East II, Missouri ($7.4K DK) - East II gets a plus matchup with Vanderbilt and is averaging 32 DK over his last three games. ALL
  • Meechie Johnson, Georgia ($6.6K DK/6.6K FD) - Johnson is going to go low owned due to recent poor play but is in a smash GPP spot against Georgia, a team he put up 29 DK against two weeks ago. GPP
  • Sean Pedulla, Virginia Tech ($7.8K DK/6.8K FD) - Pedulla has already put up a fifty-burger (54.5 DK) against Miami and as the alpha on VT’s offense could very well do it again today. GPP
  • Jalen Cook, LSU ($7.1K DK) - Cook has a 30% usage rate over the last five games but is so volatile. He is capable of a 35+ DK game today. GPP
  • Chris Ledlum G/F, St. John’s ($6.6K DK/6.1K FD) - Ledlum has settled in nicely for Rick Pitino and St. John’s with a 28.2% combined rebound rate plus is averaging 23.2 DK over his last five games. ALL
  • Nijel Pack, Miami ($7.1K DK/6.7K FD) - Pack and Wooga Poplar are both fully in play on an exciting Miami offense. The lean goes towards Pack who has a slightly higher usage rate. ALL
  • Trey Galloway, Indiana ($6.2K DK) - With XJ Johnson probably out Galloway will have the ball in his hands more often which gives him a higher ceiling than normal. ALL
  • Ezra Manjon, Vanderbilt ($6.3K DK) - Manjon is coming off a bad game at Auburn but that will just keep him low owned. I love this price on a 25.9% usage/24.9% shot rate player with a 26.8% assist rate. GPP.

CBB DFS Value Guard Player Spotlight

Chase Ross - Marquette @ Georgetown ($4.1K DK)

Chase Ross returned on Tuesday after missing five games with a shoulder injury and proceeded to have one of his best games of the season. He was on the court for 31 minutes and looked great scoring off of offensive movement putting up 11 points with four rebounds, an assist, steal and block (21.5 DK). I will take 5X any day, especially in a game against one of the worst defenses in the nation- Georgetown. Chase Ross will be in my main lineup if Kam Jones (ankle) remains out. If Jones plays, Ross is still an option at this price but more of a GPP-type option.

Other Top CBB DFS Value Guards

  • Josh Uduje, Utah State ($5.0K DK) - Uduje is a sneaky play at a very reasonable price and plays around 25 minutes. He just put up 29.5 at Boise State last week. ALL
  • Chendall Weaver, Texas ($4.4K DK/4.7K FD) - A pattern exists for Weaver as he has been playing up to his opponents. Against top-ranked teams like Marquette (23.0 DK), Oklahoma (21.0 DK) and BYU (25.8 DK) Weaver displayed some of his best performances so far. Today he faces No. 25 TCU- get my drift? ALL
  • Layden Blocker, Arkansas ($3.9K DK) - Blocker started his first game of the season against Missouri and played 29 minutes (16.3 DK). We are dealing with Coach Musselman here, so no one is safe but if Blocker gets the start again, he is a near must-play for me at this price. Teammate Keyon Menifield is also in play at a cheap $4.3K if Blocker does not start. ALL
  • Gabe Cupps, Indiana ($3.3K DK) - It appears that Xavier Johnson (elbow) and his 30+ minutes will be out which opens the door for Cupps. You can’t beat the minimum price for a player that should start but he pretty much just does cardio up and down the court. GPP
  • Wayne Bristol Jr., Georgetown ($3.7K DK) - Bristol started last game and played 32 minutes, but here is the issue, he only scored 8.0 DK.

CBB DFS Forward Player Spotlight

Kel’el Ware - Indiana ($8.2K DK)

Kel’el Ware is in the nut spot of the slate. We may have whiffed by using Big Cliff this week against Penn State, but it will not be two in a row against the worst rebounding squad in the nation- Penn State. This is a front court that is ranked 305th in the nation with a 32.6% defensive rebound rate and 241st with a 27.3% rate of the offensive boards. In his first game back from an ankle injury that kept him out of two games, Ware's performance was crucial as the Hoosiers defeated Iowa, 74-68.  He appeared to be a bit hobbled compared to his usual self but still led Indiana with 23 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks. Now after a few more days to rest the ankle Ware brings his 33% combined rebound rate in a home affair against the Nittany Lions.

Dylan Disu - Texas @ TCU ($7.5K DK/7.3K FD)

Dylan Disu is coming off a season high 36 minutes against Houston and can nuke any slate. He is on pace to break a Texas school record not usually held by a frontcourt player as Disu has made 19 of 36 3-pointers while averaging 15.3 points per game. If Disu keeps up the pace (52.8%) he’ll break the single-season record of 42.3% 3-point shooting set by guard A.J. Abrams in the 2006-07 season. With a 31% usage rate since his return from injury Disu has regularly put up 30+ DK and nearly hit that during last game against an elite Houston defense (28.0 DK). A sub-$8K price is still too cheap for Dylan Disu.

Other Top CBB DFS Forwards (Point Per Dollar)

  • Jaedon LeDee, San Diego State ($8.5K DK) - LeDee is a straight stud with a 28.3% usage rate and 33.0 DK over his last five games.
  • Oso Ighodaro, Marquette ($8.4K DK) - This guy is as steady as they come with 34 DK over his last five games and now gets the best game environment of the slate.
  • Emmanuel Miller, TCU ($7.3K DK/8.0K FD) - Miller has been Big 12 Player of the Week in two of the last three weeks. I will have one of Miller or Disu in nearly every lineup.
  • Mackenzie Mgbako, Indiana ($6.6K DK) - Mgbako gets a piece of the worst rebounding team in the nation- one of the best point-per-dollar plays of the slate.
  • Chris Ledlum G/F, St. John’s ($6.6K DK/6.1K FD) - Ledlum has settled in nicely for Rick Pitino and St. John’s with a 28.2% combined rebound rate plus is averaging 23.2 DK over his last five games.
  • Dillon Mitchell, Texas ($6.5K DK/7.2K FD) - Mitchell is coming off his seventh double-double of the season and it was against an elite Houston defense.
  • Makhi Mitchell, Arkansas ($6.4K DK) - What a price jump) from $4.9K DK) but Mitchell now has back-to-back double-doubles. GPP Only.

Top CBB DFS Value Forwards

  • Anthony Walker, Indiana ($4.4K DK) - If Malik Reneau remains out Walker becomes a top value lock against the terrible Penn State frontcourt. He is fully capable of 5X value at this price and 25-30 minutes.
  • Robbie Beran, Virginia Tech ($5.8K DK/4.8K FD) - Berna starts and plays nearly 30 minutes and gets a plus matchup in a high game total. GPP Only.
  • Evan Taylor G/F, Vanderbilt ($4.6K DK) - Taylor has started the last three games and is averaging nearly 20 DK. Today he gets a plus matchup putting him in play as a value in all formats.
  • Jalen Graham, Arkansas ($5.2K DK) - Graham is coming off a monster game (32.8 DK) at Missouri and has started the last two, but once again we cannot trust any Musselman player. GPP Only.
