CBB DFS Picks for Today: Thursday, 3/14

Best CBB DFS Plays Today: Guards

PlayerTeamOpp.DK $DK FPPGFD $FD FPPG
Kam JonesMARQVU880026.41780024.45
With Tyler Kolek still out, Kam Jones will continue being a go-to scorer and playmaker for Marquette tonight. He just exploded for 30 points and 50 DK last game after putting up 31 and 29 DK in the two previous without Kolek. Against Villanova earlier this year, Jones had 22 points and a stat-stuffing 38 DK. He’s good for cash or GPP tonight with a large shot volume likely incoming.
Ace Baldwin Jr.PSUIU870032.15810029.64
Ace Baldwin Jr. had another stat-stuffing effort in yesterday’s win vs Michigan, posting 17 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and 39 DK. The Penn State point guard continues to be a strong cash guard for DFS with his heavy usage and shot volume. The matchup tonight vs Indiana is a bit tougher, but this should still be one of the higher-scoring games on the slate. Baldwin had 23 points/9 assists/50 DK and 22 points/8 assists/40 DK in two regular season games vs IU.
Trey AlexanderCREPROV850035.39830032.89
There are multiple high-priced players to consider in this Providence vs Creighton matchup. Trey Alexander is one of them who may go overlooked compared to Devin Carter, Baylor Scheierman, or others in the same game. Alexander is playing at a high level right now, averaging 18.8 points and a stat-filled 37 DK over the past 10 games. He had 38 and 35 DK vs Providence in the regular season.
Bruce ThorntonOSUIOWA740029.54
On the DK slate, we get the earlier matchup of Ohio State vs Iowa and it’s bound to be a higher-scoring one. Bruce Thornton is the top Buckeye to roster as their leading playmaker. He’s averaging 16 points, 8.4 assists/rebounds, and 28 DK over the past 10 games heading into tonight. Thornton is a good bet to score close to 20 points with 30-40 DK in this uptempo matchup vs Iowa’s weaker defense.
Walter Clayton Jr.UFUGA710029.2670026.62
Florida is favored in the highest total of the slate, so it’s clearly a team to target overall. Walter Clayton Jr. and Zyon Pullin are both firmly in play as the Gators’ top playmakers. Over the past 10 games, Clayton is averaging 18.5 PPG & 30 DK while Pullin is putting up 16.4 PPG & 31 DK. Both should be plenty involved in Florida’s scoring output tonight in a quick-paced game. Clayton scored 21 and 18 points vs Georgia during the regular season and he’s notably cheaper than Pullin.
Jared McCainDUKENCST700025.51630023.26
Jared McCain was a key playmaker for Duke throughout conference play and that should carry right over into the postseason. The stud freshman is averaging 15.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 29 DK over the past 10 games and can exceed 30-35 DFS points at his ceiling. McCain just had 16 points and 28 DK vs NC State and should be plenty involved offensively as the Wolfpack are weaker defensively in the backcourt. He's really cheap for someone who can outperform a lot of the guys priced higher.

Justin MooreVUMARQ620019.73510018.18
Villanova needed a last-second Justin Moore three-pointer to avoid the upset by DePaul last night. That capped off a stat-filled 28 DK performance for Moore in one of his better all-around games in months. Nova is in desperation mode while squarely on the bubble, so expect the veteran Moore to be heavily involved and racking up stats as the offense relies on him more. He’s especially cheap on FD.
Michael O'ConnellNCSTDUKE570015.45460014.48
Even though DJ Horne returned yesterday, Michael O’Connell has scored 16 points with 30 DK in back-to-back games to start the ACC Tournament. He hasn’t been this productive all season but it’s hard to ignore what he’s doing now with NC State in win-or-go-home mode. Maybe he comes back down to Earth tonight vs Duke, but O’Connell is still cheap enough to throw in GPP lineups if he keeps it up.
Will RichardUFUGA540021.02470019.21
Like most of the Florida value plays, Will Richard is a boom-or-bust GPP option. At his best, though, he’ll easily exceed value with the potential to score 20+ real points and 30+ DFS points. Richard just had 23 points/34 DK vs Alabama two games ago. He also has 20+ DK in 9 of the last 14 games. The duds in between make him tough to fully trust, but he’s worth a GPP roster spot in a higher-scoring game here vs Georgia.
Langston LoveBAYCINCY480017.86430016.01
After battling an injury over the past month, Langston Love returned last game and logged 22 minutes off the bench. He had a solid stat line of 9 points, 5 rebounds, and 16 DK in his first game back. Before his injury, Love was playing around 30 minutes per game for Baylor and he could get back to that level with the Big 12 Tournament starting up. If he does, then Love can put up 20+ DFS points and would be a bargain at his discounted prices.
Isaiah WattsWSUSTAN46007.6141006.81
Isaiah Watts barely played all season but has vaulted right into Washington State’s rotation over the past couple of weeks. The freshman has 18 points/28 DK and 15 points/30 DK in two of the last three games – which were both close contests vs USC and Washington. His minutes have seen a notable uptick over the past four games too. We’ll see if this continues in the Pac-12 Tournament and if it does, he offers some upside here priced below 5k.

Kel'el WareIUPSU920035.69850033.39
Kel’el Ware has been a beast over the past month with three 50+ DK outings in the past four games and averaging 18.7 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks over the past 10 games. Penn State has a weak interior defense and poor rebounding rates, putting Ware in a good matchup. The Indiana center had 41 and 30 DK in two games vs PSU this year. He’s better suited for GPP lineups but that 50+ DK upside is already proven.
Kyle FilipowskiDUKENCST850036.3860033.83
Kyle Filipowski has actually not performed well vs NC State in two games this year. Keep that in mind, but the Duke center still has plenty of GPP upside. He’s coming off of a 23-point, 45 DK outing vs UNC and always has that 40-50 DFS ceiling at his best. NC State’s frontcourt duo of Burns and Diarra does make it tougher, but don’t overlook Filipowski for GPP lineups.
Oso IghodaroMARQVU820031.64810030.18
As Tyler Kolek remains out, Oso Ighodaro will continue being a bigger part of Marquette’s offense. He was already a key player for the Golden Eagles, but the big man’s usage and shot volume have increased in Kolek’s absence. Ighodaro has 41 and 32 DK in the past two games and is a safer cash forward now as he’s more involved offensively. He had 40 and 29 DK vs Nova in the regular season.
Josh OduroPROVCRE800032.07800030.10
Josh Oduro continues to be a safe cash forward as the Providence offense heavily revolves around him and Devin Carter. Over the past 10 games, Oduro is now averaging 18.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 35 DK. Creighton does present a tougher matchup than Georgetown yesterday, but Oduro went off for 32 points/12 rebs/56 DK against the Bluejays last month. If he can avoid foul trouble vs Ryan Kalkbrenner, the production will be there.

Felix OkparaOSUIOWA590019.62
On DK tonight, Felix Okpara is a GPP value with plenty of upside in this higher-scoring, uptempo matchup vs Iowa. The Ohio State center gets to face a weaker Iowa frontcourt that struggles to rebound and defend the paint. Okpara went off for 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 34 DK in this matchup earlier this season and has the same potential tonight.
Cody WilliamsCOLUTAH570022.85
There’s a chance Cody Williams returns for Colorado tonight after missing the past four games with an ankle injury. Williams is a game-time decision, so it may be tough to wait on the news for this late-night tip on the DK slate. Still, if he plays, the freshman stud has a good chance of returning value at a lower rostership. Williams is averaging 13.7 PPG and 23 DK this season.
Puff JohnsonPSUIU560012.95400011.88
We mentioned Puff Johnson as a value yesterday but he only had 7 points and two rebounds in the win. Still, it was encouraging to see him play 25 minutes off the bench. Johnson has been a bigger part of Penn State’s rotation over the past month with 25+ minutes in three straight games now. If his higher playing time continues, he could jump back up to double-digit points scored with 20+ DFS points tonight. Zach Hicks is also a GPP value to consider from Penn St.
Alex CondonUFUGA550020.05500018.68
Alex Condon is another GPP option from Florida tonight. The freshman big man enters the SEC Tournament with 27 and 24 DK in the past two games, which is a good sign. Condon’s minutes and overall production are very up and down to trust in cash lineups, but he can return 4x or 5x value at his best. Condon had 23 and 17 DK in two games vs Georgia this year.
