The fantasy football playoffs are here as we head into Week 14.  This is where all of your hard work and diligence over the past three months will hopefully pay off.  Fortunately nothing catastrophically new happened this weekend to derail fantasy owners, but there are some lingering injuries and questionable statuses that need to be addressed in order for you to advance in your league’s playoffs.  So without further ado, here is the next edition of the fantasy football walking wounded.

Rob Gronkowski (TE – NE)

Initial reports are that Gronkowski will not be ready to return for Week 14 which is bad news for fantasy owners in the playoffs.  Hopefully you were aggressive on the waiver wire last week and grabbed Scott Chandler who paid immediate dividends in the Patriots’ loss to Philadelphia.  Look for Chandler to have another big day if Gronkowski needs to sit out one more game.

Eli Manning (QB – NYG)

Any time Eli Manning has an x-ray it is big news because he has been so durable his entire career.  X-rays came back negative on his ankle and he will be just fine to play next Monday night against Miami.  Manning’s overall numbers are worthy of starting in the fantasy playoffs, but he is suffering greatly from the lack of an effective running game.

Tyler Eifert (TE – CIN)

As expected, Eifert missed this Sunday’s game against Cleveland which was very disappointing for fantasy owners as he would have had a great matchup against an awful Browns defense.  It is not known yet whether he will play next week, but it would be a huge boost for fantasy owners in the playoffs to have Eifert back in the lineup.

C.J. Anderson (RB – DEN)

It has been a rollercoaster of a ride for fantasy owners with C.J. Anderson this year.  After finally breaking out last week, Anderson left this Sunday’s game with an ankle injury and never returned.  He was likely kept out as a precaution but his status for next week is still unknown.  Check back in later in the week for further updates as he would be a viable fantasy option once again after disappearing for the first three months.

Dontrelle Inman (WR – SD)

In a very scary moment, Dontrelle Inman had to be taken off the field on a stretcher during the Chargers game against Denver on Sunday.  The good news is that he was released from the hospital and had movement in his arms and legs.  He will be evaluated later in the week, but his status for next weekend is questionable at best.  Inman was a borderline WR3 option in deep leagues thanks to all the injuries to San Diego’s receivers.

Andre Ellington (RB – ARZ)

Ellington was held out of this past week’s game against St. Louis and will likely miss this Thursday’s game against Minnesota.  He is dealing with turf toe and the short week will make it almost impossible for him to be back.  Look for David Johnson to see a lot of work against the Vikings as Arizona will be without both Ellington and Chris Johnson.

Karlos Williams (RB – BUF)

Williams missed the last game with a shoulder injury and his status is up in the air for Week 14 as well.  He has been productive when he plays but it is has been difficult for him to stay on the field.  If he does play this week against Philadelphia, expect him to see minimal snaps because it is likely that LeSean McCoy will never want to come out of the game when he faces off against the team that traded him.

Matt Hasselbeck (QB – IND)

Hasselbeck got hit in the head and underwent x-rays during the Colts blowout loss to the Steelers on Sunday night.  His status is questionable for next week which means Charlie Whitehurst would get the start if he cannot go.  Andrew Luck is still out recovering from a lacerated spleen, so Colts players at the skill positions will not be very good options heading into Week 14.
