2026 Fantasy Baseball Player Profile

Trevor Megill solidified his status as a premier high-leverage arm in 2025, overcoming a late-season injury to turn in the best campaign of his career. Serving as the primary closer for much of the year, the towering right-hander earned his first career All-Star selection and finished the regular season with 30 saves, eighth most in the league. Megill posted a 2.49 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP across 47 innings while racking up 60 strikeouts, good for an impressive 31.3% strikeout rate. His success was driven by an increased reliance on his knuckle-curve, which generated a league-best 48.9% whiff rate. Although a right elbow flexor strain sidelined him for most of September, he returned for the regular-season finale and remained a high-leverage weapon throughout the Brewers' postseason run, even serving as an emergency opener in Game 5 of the NLDS.

Entering 2026, Megill returns to the back of the Milwaukee bullpen after signing a one-year, $4.7 million deal to avoid arbitration. He remains the frontrunner for save opportunities, but the presence of fireballer Abner Uribe creates some uncertainty regarding his long-term hold on the ninth inning. Fantasy managers should view him as a top-15 relief option with elite strikeout upside, currently holding an ADP of approximately 131. While his history of durability concerns and the risk of a mid-season trade are factors to monitor, Megill’s ability to miss bats with both his 99 mph heater and devastating curveball gives him one of the highest ceilings among National League closers.
