PGA DFS Coverage for Cadence Bank Houston Open

The city of Houston is quite busy this week from the World Series parade to their signature PGA Tour event, the Cadence Bank Houston Open. Plenty of excitement throughout the city and hopefully that continues to Memorial Park Golf Course.  This course will challenge these players, we won’t see another winner at 20 under this weekend. The No. 2 player in the world, Scottie Scheffler, tees it up for a second straight week. After a Top-3 finish at the Mayakoba, he returns to Houston after a runner-up finish here in 2021.  Russell Henley looks to go back-to-back following his win in Mexico, he finished Top 10 at this event in 2021.  It will be interesting to see how these players face their first real tough test of the season.

The Field: Cadence Bank Houston Open

The field of golfers in Houston is very similar to what we saw in Mexico last weekend.  We’ve got the No. 2 player in the world, Scottie Scheffler, looking to improve from his second place finish in 2021.  He will be joined by 131 other golfers including Sam Burns, Tony Finau, Hideki Matsuyama, and many more quality players.  While we’ve got a solid group at the top, the mid-tier is stacked with solid value across the board.  You should feel more comfortable with your lineups heading into the Cadence Bank Houston Open.

The Course: Memorial Park Golf Course

This course will be the first true test of these golfers for the 2022-2023 season.  We’ve got a course that’s 7,412 yards and plays as a Par 70.  It is different from typical Par 70 courses, we’ve got five par 3s and five par 5s.  Three of the par 5s are longer than 570 yards and the longest par 3 reaches out about 237 yards.  The par 4s are a mixed bag from drivable holes to a 502 yard finishing hole.  The rough looks to be pretty fierce which will put emphasis on accuracy off the tee but length will be needed.  The greens are difficult to read with lots of bumps, hills and mounds.  One bad read could cause you to fall off the greens into very tough situations.  A players’ short game will be tested at Memorial.  We need players who can get the ball close and deal with tough pin placements.

The Weather: Houston, Texas

The weather this weekend will be a mixed bag.  Thursday and Friday will be pretty typical of this time of year for Houston with temps in the low 80s and high 70s and partial cloudy skies.  Saturday and Sunday will be a completely different story as the temperatures will drop in the mid to high 50s and there is rain in the forecast.
