NFL Week 13 kicks off tonight on Thursday Night Football with a potential NFC playoff match-up as Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys host Geno Smith and the Seattle Seahawks. That means it’s time to get those football picks in for your confidence pools. These are NFL Week 13 picks straight up – no spread – and as we set our points up for which games we like the best, we have to take a deeper look into the overall standings and see where we can/should make up some ground. It’s not just about picking longshots to upset the favorites. It’s about picking games where you can legitimately see the upset happening AND being one of very few people in the pool who set a relatively high confidence pick on that game. Yes, it’s time for some contrarian picks as we look to improve our place in the standings.

  • Season Record: 110-70
  • Season Points: 954 (28 points out of the Top 10)

In my primary confidence pool where the picks in this article series are being used, we took a slight step backwards last week as 12 favorites won their games outright. It was a pretty high total, so where we may have tried to differentiate, we got caught because the chalk hit. Not a huge drop, but enough where we now have to start making some moves here in NFL Week 13. This is what it’s looking like for me this week:

Yes, that's right – the Jets at home, Tim Boyle and all. I just don't see Arthur Smith doing the right thing just yet. Robert Saleh should focus on stopping the run and letting his secondary handle Desmond Ridder. That should put the Jets in line for a potential low-scoring win. Risky? Of course, but the Jets need the win if they genuinely believe they can make the playoffs and Aaron Rodgers is coming back.
